Metal Gear Solid HD trilogy coming to PS3?
Official PlayStation Magazine's insider whispers say 'yes'

An HD reworking of the original Metal Gear Solid trilogy is on the way to PS3, according to 'insider whispers' heard by the ears of the UK's Official PlayStation Magazine.

In the mag's new issue, in stores now, it reports that Snake is "in the facelift queue", and that the "first three" MGS games are set to be reborn in High Definition.

No details of release window, price or whether the trilogy will be a boxed or digital product are given.

However, any reworking of Kojima-san's much-loved original trio will be music to the ears of PlayStation nuts, with the games still very much considered classics of the genre.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots is currently the only MGS title to be released for PS3. It enjoys a very healthy 94 per cent average review score on Metacritic. Could it be joined by its predecessors in full HD later this year?

Sony & Konami are yet to comment.

I'd buy it.

I never did play MG3.  It's been ages since I played MG2 (and even longer since MG1).  I wonder if they'll keep all of the pervy easter eggs intact.

This could be their big chance to make a shitload of cash off the Xbox people who want to play MGS. I really hope they take advantage of it, especially with MGR coming out next year multiplatform, and my burning desire to replay these classics.

To answer that and update this topic:

Today Konami announced MGS along with Zone of the Enders will receive the HD treatment. And for the first time, these franchises will be seen on Xbox 360.

The Metal Gear Pack will be released in November and contain MGS 2, MGS 3 and MGS: Peace Walker. The games will include remastered audio, HD graphics and achievements.

Zone of the Enders Collection will include Zone of the Enders 1 & 2, and have the same features as the MGS pack included. This isn't hitting stores til 2012 though.

Kotaku is also reporting that news on a Silent Hill HD collection is forthcoming.

More awesome!  Great game, but I never finished it on PSP.

Five games in the box. Best value since The Orange Box.
The Japanese version doesn't get Peacewalker but they get a code to download ''Metal Gear Solid''.

Here's a little article from 1up

http://www.1up.com/news/metal-gear-hd-collection-includes-first-two-metal-gears

So we have Metal Gear 1+2 thanks to Subsistence. Christmas list for this one alongside Dark Souls.

And ''Peacewalker'' has 4 player co-op!

MGS HD Collection spans two discs on 360

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection won't fit on one Xbox 360 DVD disc - Konami has had to use two.

On PS3, only one Blu-ray disc was needed.

There's no word on how the Xbox 360 content is split across the two discs.

Konami has also revealed that the HD, console revamp of PSP game Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will have online mulitplayer for six people. We found out earlier this month that Peace Walker HD will also allow online co-op for four.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection contains HD remasters of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Also included are "conversions" of MSX games Metal Gear 1 and 2. The VR Missions released alongside MGS2: Substance are thrown in, too.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be released in Japan on 23rd November. A European date hasn't been announced.

If you have a PS3 the collection has Transfarring for the PSP and for PS Vita. That means that you can transfer your save and progress between the games if you have them for each device. (wonder if this means the Vita is getting the collection too someday)
