Sega has announced Rise of Nightmares for Kinect at Tokyo Games Show.
It'll be a serious survival horror game, which is surprising because it's not an area Sega specialises in and survival horror doesn't seem like the most appropriate genre for Kinect.

Yet it is very much a 'serious' survival horror game, so colour us intrigued.

Rise of Nightmares is scheduled for release next year.

maybe the first of a possible wave of kinect games aimed at an adult audience? hopefully. And hopefully playable sat down too, i don't mind standing for the casual kinect games but if it's story driven i'm gonna wanna sit to play

Rumour: Project Milo cancelled

Peter Molyneux's controversial Kinect game Project Milo has been cancelled, sources have claimed.

Development on Lionhead's motion-sensing relationship simulation was officially halted yesterday, with "19 contractors" let go, according to a source claiming to be close to the situation.

Two teams will now focus on the Fable franchise, Eurogamer was told. According to our source, the old Milo team will reuse the Milo tech for a "Fable themed Kinect game".

So far Microsoft and Lionhead have refused to comment on the claim, but we're working on that.

The news comes as some surprise. Only last month Molyneux told Eurogamer Project Milo was on.

"Of course!," he said when asked whether we'll be able to buy it in the shops at some point in the future. "I wouldn't be working on it if I didn't hope that to be true, yes."

In July Molyneux admitted he finds it "insanely hard" to convince others of the validity of his new game ideas before they're realised.

UPDATE: Microsoft and Lionhead have responded to Eurogamer's enquiries with the standard: "Microsoft does not comment on rumour or speculation."

They also don't negotiate with terrorists.   ;D

Just had this message from a friend:

I've just played Kinect! I'm at a business centre near east midlands airport and MS are in the meeting room next to me doing demos to game shop employees (game/pc world, etc).

I walked past the room and noticed it was empty apart from a couple of MS guys. I popped my head around the door and asked if I could have a go. They said no at first, but said I was welcome to have a look. The kinect camera is about twice as big as I'd thought it would be. I asked him how bad the lag was, to which he got quite defensive. So defensive, he shut the blinds, locked the door and let me have a go! I played a few levels of kinect adventures. Great, great fun and minimal lag.

It's a yes from me!

There you go, "a word of mouth" review.

Every game shown so far does indeed have the potential to kill Kinect, I agree.   ;D
