Demo Impressions:
You get a little bit of each of the three campaigns with all 6 characters playable.
The hud is all reworked and looks nice enough.
Graphics are of a high standard and voice acting/mouth syncing is very well done with some nice movement on the muscles around the mouth/jaw.
There are two menus (I'll correct this if I'm wrong!):
1. For weapons + grenade types
2. For items such as herbs (3 options: combine/use/discard)
Menus are real time.
Auto fire/single shot on auto weapons.
Dual weild pistols (for leon optional)
Parkour across objects. Melee actions are easy to perform with RT and easy executions.
Only played with Chris + Jake so far, but I have to say that I don't like the ''ACTION'' of Chris and partner Piers Nivens campaign. The enemies seem dumb. It could be just on easy mode though so worries on that count.
Co-op play is included as well.
Update:
The demo is the ten minute gameplay videos shown recently.
Options show various colour choices for laser target eg red/green/purple/yellow etc.
Various camera angle changes in options to suit each player.
Leon auto runs with the pistol pointed down except it seems when the game is pulling a ''tense'' moment.
There are skill pick-ups which are not explained in the demo.
There are destructible environments in Jake's section albeit ''here's a barrel, oh it's beside a wall let's see what happens'' but it it looks good if not script built.
The Ustanak is a bow that looks like a super mutant from Fallout with mechanical attachments (Jake + Sherry's campaign) and is pretty fast and nasty.
In Chris/Piers + Jake/Sherry's campaigns there are what appear to be gun weilding humanoid antagonists that ''vaporize'' upon death (unknown as to what they are, but zombies they are certainly not, some kind of low-spec disposable military bow?)
There is a health regeneration system ala ME3 herbs are still in.
Leon is now Bruce Lee apparently!
Pros:
The frustrations of Resi 5 are gone, being able to shoot and move at the same time is a welcome change.
Nice shadowing, good looking textures, high sound standard and solid controls.
Various campaigns that have a different feel to the them including the huds.
Cons:
Feels a little soulless except in one part
The action campaign of Chris could be the weak link as the action just isn't intense.
The tension moments feels a little too forced such as ''who turned the lights out?'' yes Leon's partner Helena does actually say that!
Story wise if you've seen the previously mentioned videos then you know already what to expect. If you haven't then I won't give away any spoilers, even though the demo doesn't really give anything away which is a good thing.
Overall: Still hanging on the fence here.
With the new controls mercenaries could be the saviour of the project.
