Backup
« on: February 18, 2010, 03:16:43 AM »
Daft question (maybe), but is there anyway to backup the data on a 360 hard disk to say a PC hard disk, just in case the 360 hard disk ever "died"?

Thank god for the new Tomb Raider, helped me de-stress after a tough week! More of the same please

Yeh me too!!! Still don't see the point though, if the screen's too small to read and it's too awkward to actually use it what's the point?

Phone = phone calls and texts, plain & simple :)

Your right. I am totally with you. Most of the time I never have my phone charged up. If someone wants me they can call me at home. I hate mobile phones

Yes you can, not sure how good these are but i've seen them mentioned a few times before

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Datel-Direct-Ltd-XSATA-Xbox/dp/B000GBADDC

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Datel-Data-Transfer-Kit-White/dp/B000G02KGG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1266486930&sr=8-2

I use the Datel XPORT.  It's much more convenient than the XSATA, which you have to physically attach to your console.

Alternatively, you can also use the official Microsoft Transfer Cable thing if you already have one.  You just need to download the drivers and navigation software separately.

If I can rememeber, I'll post a link to download the drivers and software directly.  A lot of the websites you have to visit in order to find them will likely give you some type of virus.

If I can rememeber, I'll post a link to download the drivers and software directly.  A lot of the websites you have to visit in order to find them will likely give you some type of virus.

Click the name of each program to download the file.

XPort360 is the official Datel software that is intended to be used with the Datel XPORT device.  The ZIP file includes the installation file along with a PDF manual that explains how it works, and a ReadMe file that is very helpful if this is your first time connecting your Xbox 360 Hard Drive to your PC.  The installation will create a directory on your PC for the program, as well as the drivers you'll need for your PC to recognize your Xbox 360 Hard Drive when you connect it to your PC for the first time.  The Manual gives detailed instructions on how to install the drivers.  If this software doesn't work with your official Microsoft Transfer Cable, you may need to use the following ...

XPlorer360 is a homebrew app that was made by some 1337 h@kz3r$.  It fixes some of the bugs that some experience with XPort 360, but it's does have its own unique bugs.  Depending on what I'm trying to do, I sometimes use both programs, since neither work 100% flawlessly.

I strongly recommend only using these programs to CREATE and RESTORE complete Hard Drive Backups.  If you try to navigate and change the data inside of your Xbox 360 Hard Drive, you may end up losing all of your data, or even risk getting banned from Xbox Live for tampering.

Both of these programs are virus-free.  However, the manuals and help files may refer you to certain websites for "more info".  Ignore those ... the internet can be a dangerous place.    :-X  If you need "more info", ask here.
