Rod Fergusson Opening a new 2K Studio

Having left Epic for Irrational Games in August 2012, before subsequently departing Irrational in April this year after helping the studio wrap up development on BioShock Infinite, Rod Fergusson is now opening a new 2K studio.

"It’s official: I’m launching a new studio for 2K in the Bay Area with an exciting new project! Details soon!" Fergusson announced on Twitter.

No further details have been revealed on what the exciting new project is exactly, but we love things that are both exciting and new, so colour us intrigued. Watch this space.

Apparently, where one door opens another one closes - yesterday 2k Marin (developers or Bioshock 2 and The Bureau:XCOM Declassified) announced massive layoffs.

[Polygon] is confirming that while Fergusson's new studio is opening, 2k Marin is essentially dead in the water. This has little to do with the new Fergusson led 2k studio - other than the fact that - allegedly, some of those folks who Fergusson picked up to launch the new endeavor will be from the soon to be dead 2KMarin.

Good luck to all those starting up the new 2k Studio, and hopefully those not picked up will find their way to greener pastures.
