Rock Band Blitz
« on: April 04, 2012, 06:53:08 AM »
Rock Band Blitz Coming To XBLA From Harmonix

A Rock Band game using a standard controller and not a big plastic guitar peripheral? On the Xbox Live Arcade, no less? Madness... That's exactly what Harmonix has announced today though, with Rock Band Blitz, which looks to be a game more akin to the developer's early output like FreQuency or Amplitude.

There's 25 songs that are part of Rock Band Blitz as standard, but should you own any Rock Band tracks as part of your overall RB library, you'll also be able to play them in Blitz. That means you can access potentially every one of the 3700+ tracks already available for Rock Band for RB Blitz.

Rock Band Blitz's 25 tracks meanwhile, will be instantly playable in Rock Band 3. There's a pinball bouncing around, special purple keys and a bunch of other stuff too.

Rock Band Blitz is coming to XBLA this summer.

Rock Band Blitz Rocking Out on XBLA in August

Harmonix has announced that Rock Band Blitz is but a month away from launching on XBLA, bringing with it 20 tracks from a variety of major artists, as well as the ability to export tracks from the thousands already available in the existing Rock Band library.

Taking its cue from Harmonix's early titles, Frequency and Amplitude, Rock Band Blitz doesn't require any peripherals (other than a controller, of course), which means you needn't dig out the guitars, drums et al. Here's the first 15 tracks originally revealed in May and four new tracks revealed today, highlighted in bold.

All-American Rejects - Kids in the Street.
    Barenaked Ladies - One Week.
    Blink-182 - Always.
    Collective Soul - Shine.
Elton John - I'm Still Standing.
Fall Out Boy - A Little Less Sixteen Candles....
Foster the People - Pumped Up Kicks.
Great White - Once Bitten Twice Shy.
    Iron Maiden - Wicker Man.
Living Coulour - Cult of Personality.
    P!nk - Raise Your Glass.
    Quiet Riot - Metal Health.
    Rick Springfield - Jessie's Girl.
    Shinedown - Diamond Eyes.
    Tears for Fears - Shout.
Avenged Sevenfold – “So Far Away”
Fun. ft. Janelle Monáe – “We Are Young”
Kool & The Gang – “Jungle Boogie”
    My Chemical Romance – “Sing”

There are more tracks to come for Rock Band Blitz that will no doubt be announced prior to the game's launch date. Rock Band Blitz will be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade on August 29th for 1200 Microsoft Points. Rock and rooooooll!

Rock Band Blitz to be removed from digital stores
Rock in Peace.

Rock Band Blitz will be delisted from digital stores at the end of the month.

In the post on the Rock Band forum, developer Harmonix said the 2012 download title would be removed from the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Live Marketplace on or before 28th August.

Unlike the other games in the Rock Band series, Rock Band Blitz is played with a traditional control rather than plastic instruments. This was thought to lessen the cost of entry for players, who didn't have to buy the additional equipment for the rhythm game.

The delisting comes as no surprise. Harmonix has gradually removed content from Rock Band Blitz, primarily due to music licences expiring. This is a common beast for certain games, often resulting in their removal from digital shops rather than extending the licence. Last month, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD was removed from Steam for the same reason.

It doesn't help Rock Band Blitz isn't backward compatible. But don't fret! All 25 songs on the Rock Band Blitz soundtrack can be moved over to Rock Band 4 at no additional charge, as long as you own the game. Otherwise, you can buy the tracks individually in the Rock Band Music Store, as "those versions will remain up until further notice".

If you have bought Rock Band Blitz, you will still be able to download it after it disappears. If not, grab it while you have the chance.

Here's the list of songs:

• The All-American Rejects – “Kids in the Street”
• Avenged Sevenfold – “So Far Away”
• Barenaked Ladies – “One Week”
• Blink-182 – “Always”
• Collective Soul – “Shine”

• Kelly Clarkson – “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”
• Kool & The Gang – “Jungle Boogie”
• Iron Maiden – “The Wicker Man”
• Living Colour – “The Cult of Personality”
• Maroon 5 – “Moves Like Jagger”
