Title: LOVEFiLM
Post by: Jaynestown on December 04, 2009, 04:21:21 AM
I know a few of you use Love Film on here, I've been sent a free 30-day trial, before I sign up could someone give me the basics of how it works and, most importantly, how much it'll cost me once my 30-day trial runs out.

I'm with TescoRental (on and off) and they are the same as LoveFilm, i even get LoveFilm discs. Game rental is only good to play games that are old or that you ever thought, wow that looks good, but i aint gonna pay for it.

Don't expect Assassins Creed 2 or Modern Warfare!

I didn't spot your post initially, that's a bit crap, didn't realise that. I wouldn't expect them on release day, but could i not get, say Borderlands, now that it's been a few months since release?

i always put new/upcoming releases on my rental list, it's pretty much hit & miss what game you''ll get, in 2 years i've managed to get 2 games the day after release, Lego Batman and the new Ashes game

On the web site before signing up it's talking exclusively about film hire, is there a seperate section for game rental or is it all the same thing, it's a bit confusing, especially since I wouldn't be using it for hiring films.

No worries Craig, I'll probably take the free trial and see how I get on. As long as you can cancel at any time I'll be happy :)

from the lovefilm help section

Can I change my tariff during my free trial?
It is not possible to do this online as it could result in you being charged and losing the remainder of your free trial. However, if you contact the Customer Service team, they will be happy to do this for you.

so you can change it but start paying straight away or wait till the trial ends and then change

Thanks TJ, not sure if promo codes and reactivation codes are different as i tried about 20-30 different codes to no avail,
keep getting the message "KRMCH89DT is not a valid reactivation promotion code."

Ill keep searching but may have to start a new account or put my hand in my pocket. xx

It's like Netflix and GameFly had a baby, and didn't get put out of business (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GameZnFlix).

I was just thinking of signing up for Love Film, but as far as I can tell the 30 day trial period doesn't include game rental, just for DVDs only. I'm not really bothered about film rentals so can someone who's already a member tell me how it works please?

I have a question. Do Love Film send an extra rental as "compensation" if you have a faulty disc. My last rental of the month, Lego: Harry Potter, was faulty so I sent it back and they've re-dispatched it, plus they've sent Assassin's Creed II as well, despite not having any rentals left and despite also having a film rental at home still to watch. Have they screwed up?

no, they did this to me as well when CoD5 was dodgy. You get an extra rental.

Complain, i did when my disk turnaround started taking 5-6 days and they added 1 month free time onto my account.

Disc turn around is usually pretty slow at this time of the year but i'd rather just blame Royal Fail instead of LoveFilm themselves, they're getting loads of flack at the moment so I like to throw a little more blame their way.   ;D

Complaining also works very well.   :)

I love that they just gave us an extra disc for no real reason (other than market competitiveness but trying not to think about that!)

I usually have 1 DVD and 1 Game, though swapped it to 2 DVDs after buying all these new releases lately. Now I'm sat here having to decide which of my 3 movies they've just sent all at once I should watch. Can't complain really! :D

I had some of those free trial things somewhere, nice to see everyone sharing the wealth like a proper community. Kudos.

I only ever get high priority titles but then there are about 50+ games set to that on my list!
Only ever had one game not work from there, one of the Tony Hawk games, quite a few of the TV series that I rent are scratched to death which is bloody annoying especially as they play for a while so you think they'll be ok and then they start jumping and skipping scenes.
