Randy Pitchford Drops Borderlands 2 DLC Hints

With Borderlands 2 out this week, Gearbox CEO and Borderlands Executive Producer, Randy Pitchford has offered up the first hints regarding DLC for the game during the 2K Borderlands 2 panel at the Gearbox Software Community Day. Apparently, Pitchford wants to do something that would pay homage to Return of the Jedi's sand skiff.

"I've always wanted to ride a sail barge and drive a sand skiff," said Pitchford. "I've always wanted to do that, and we've got some cool stuff that's along those lines."

There's four DLC packs planned for Borderlands 2 to release by June 2013. You'll be able to grab the Borderlands 2 Season Pass in order to get your hands on all four packs for the price of three, which works out to roughly $30. Borderlands 2 is out on September 18th in North America and September 21st in Europe.

I'm picking my copy up from GameStop at midnight tonight.  This will be the first midnight game release I've taken part in since Halo 3.

Borderlands:Borderlands 2::Left4Dead:Left4Dead2

I couldn't justify spending $60 + possibly $30 for DLC for a game that is largely identical to the previous one :(  The classes scream similarities to the first games classes, still just one actual active skill per class, etc.  I mean I guess if I really wanted to experience the same game with a different story, I'd pick this up, but to me action-RPGs aren't about the story.

Besides, two days after Borderlands 2's release date will see my already downloaded copy of Torchlight 2 unlock, which will satisfy my action-RPG craving for some time.  TL2 offers significant features the first one didn't, while only costing $20.

Some people drink Pepsi, some people drink Coke...and well, other people drink neither or something else. ;)

I don't think I was personally drawn to the storyline of Borderlands specifically, but the world and characters and humor fell right in my wheelhouse.

And if playing Borderlands 2 continues to shell out more of this, sign me up: ;D

Unbelievable.  The Deluxe edition is $100, and comes with such extras as the "Game case" and "Game disc" as well as *gasp* FOUR STICKERS!  At $10/sticker that's gotta be a steal, right?  Oh, almost forgot the comic book it comes with.  Wait, no, that's just a download, they didn't want to spend any money to print it.

I won't even get into the $150 dollar edition.  What gets me most though, is that the DLC pass is an additional $30, EVEN IF you buy the $100 or $150 editions.

It also feels like no risks or innovations were taken with the game.  It's got a different story and "different" (lol) classes, as well as some cosmetic differences in the guns you find I guess?  Oh and different terrain to look at.

Some people like Pepsi, some people like Coke.  I like Mountain Dew, and I've already paid for a Pepsi.  I don't want to pay for Mountain Dew to have Gearbox laughing all the way to the bank as they hand me another Pepsi.

What I'm taking away from this is that Kade don't like Pepsi.  ;)

I'll have a refill please...the first was damn refreshing. I might try Mt. Dew next time. But isn't Mountain Dew kinda 10 yrs ago or is it the new Fanta?

The best part about the game was playing the co-op in my opinion.  I debated for a long time about picking it up and decided against if for now.  I might still pick it up eventually though.

So you guys have a good build for the gunzerker? I started out with him and I feel I made some bad skill choices. Maybe all I need are bigger guns.

I've gone Assassin Style - but I believe you can reset your skill points in Sanctuary. Just go to the Quick Change kiosk, select "Reset Skill Points" and you should be able to re-asses your "bad skill choices". ;)
