I'm all about turning it into an animated movie using the voice actors from the game...

But they won't. And it is gonna suck.

I'd prefer it to be animated too, but I don't think it'll happen that way either.

In a perfect world, all videogame and comic movies would be animated by the magic pixies that do all of the Square-Enix cutscenes.  Live actors can never truely pull off the crazy expectations we build in our heads.

Epic Looking to Revive Gears of War Movie Project

New Line has put the Gears of War movie project on hold in order to focus on The Hobbit, forcing Epic Games reps Creative Arts Agency to look elsewhere for producer support.

New Line has been faffing around with the project since 2007, lining up various Hollywood talent including Len Wiseman (Total Recall, Underworld), and Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey (Twilight). Yet nothing has come of it.

Meanwhile, the script has leapt around more than a COG between cover, with treatments from Chris Morgan (Wanted), Billy Ray (State of Play) and Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides). It’s apparently Beattie’s script that will be carried forward into negotiations with the new production team.

We love Gears of War. We love movies. But a Gears of War movie? We can’t help but think it would be better off stuck in production hell.

With talent credits like Twilight & Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, I sadly have to agree.   #)
