Halo Wars
« on: August 03, 2009, 04:29:29 AM »
Microsoft has issued an apology to Halo Wars subscribers over the recent data loss incident.

In what the studio describes as "an unfortunate incident", all statistics on the game's Xbox Live leaderboards, including all single-player, multiplayer and Trueskill data, were reset to their original launch day status.

"This was human error related to Xbox Live servers. It is not a broader service issue and will not impact other titles or Xbox Live experiences. The Xbox Live team is investigating the cause to prevent this from occurring in the future," said Microsoft's Major Nelson.

"I'd like to apologise for the incident and any frustration Halo Wars players have experienced in having their statistics disappear from the leaderboards."

Can't wait for Shenmue 3

I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

I've had it right up to here with them.

You would be well gutted if you had put all the hours in and was sitting in the top 5 of the leaderboard only for it to be wiped out.

Fortunately, I've never been a leaderboard follower, but I can certainly empathize for those poor souls.

I find it hard to imaging that there is not a backup of leaderboard data from last week / month.  It would be better than nothing.   :-\

I can see there being a sharp drop on their Online user statistics.

Yeah, I think so too. I have often thought about getting Halo Wars. Might be a good time to get it, If all the hardcore players start to drop out.
