Assassin's Creed II DLC
« on: December 01, 2009, 04:13:25 PM »
Assassin's Creed II DLC Announced

Ubisoft has announced the first two DLC packs for Assassin's Creed II. The first, scheduled for sometime in January, will be called "Battle of Forli." The second, aiming for February, will be "Bonfire of the Vanities."

Unfortunately no specific content (plot, achievement or otherwise), nor any concrete dates or prices were revealed. They did mention each download will be around 1GB, so it appears the content should be fairly decent in length, or at least add a large chunk of map if nothing else.

When more details are announced, we'll be sure to let you know.

Assassin's Creed 2 DLC Trailer & Info, Reasonably Priced Too!

Ubisoft today detailed, priced and released a trailer on their planned downloadable content for Jan & Feb 2010. As expected, it's to be the two missing sequences from the main game.

The Battle of Forli, coming January, tells the story of the Machiavelli and Caterina Sforza and their defence of the city of Forli from the Orsi family. Ezio will act behind the lines doing what he does best... being an assassin from the shadows. The DLC will cost $3.99 (around 320 Microsoft points) and will cover 6 memories that see the return of Da Vinci's flying machine and a mission involving the Piece of Eden.

The Bonfire of the Vanities, due February, takes Ezio back to the city of Florence to free the region of the reign of the mad monk, Savonarola. Presumerably, the game will take players over the southern bridge to the locked region of Florence and is said to offer 10 memories and even give Ezio a new "spring-jump" ability. The content is priced at $4.99 (around 400 Microsoft points).

This doesn't necessarily mean that the sequences were cut from the game, before anyone brings that up. Planning a game with DLC from the off appears to be the new thing in the industry these days. I suppose they need something to work on after the game has been submitted for certification though. Either way... it's more Assassin's Creed 2!

ACII DLC was originally part of game

Assassin's Creed II's dad Patrice Desilets has confirmed that the Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanities download packs due next year were originally meant to be in the main game.

"I felt that, 'Okay, there were too many things to do and to finish.' So we said, 'Okay, let's take a portion of the game that was planned and we'll give it in DLC.' We'll remove some stress to the team while giving more to fans and people who like Assassin's Creed," Desilets told Kotaku.

"I think we gave them so much content that they cannot say that we owe them, that we didn't give them a lot for their 60 bucks," he added.

The two bonus episodes are due out in January and February for $4 and $5 respectively, and fill in the "Sequence" gap in the Assassin's Creed II storyline.

Desilets also hinted that the team may reintroduce another feature that was cut in order to get the game finished - the ability to replay any mission. "Eventually maybe we'll come out with some way to do it somehow," he said.

Do you think they'll be clever and release the second DLC on 7th Feb then?

Can't wait for Shenmue 3

I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

I've had it right up to here with them.
