Kane & Lynch film to star Bruce Willis
I read rumours about him appearing in the film ages ago but then there was never any new news on the topic, until now.Same.

I've got the anime on my Lovefilm list so I'll do a review once I've watched them.
Gears of War better be the most expensive, insanely action heavy film ever made. Costs run into the stratosphere but sh*t gets blown up and people get chainsawed in half ... and a giant worm too, made of rock, which eats cities (or is that too far fetched?)
been waiting for this for ages, out next week in the States, January for us though.

Shame about Miramax, but still can't think of a film they produced.
Shame about Miramax, but still can't think of a film they produced.
Pulp Fiction, Clerks, The Crying Game, Heavenly Creatures, Shakespeare in Love, Chicago, Dogma to name but a few.
They also had the distribution rights to the awesome Jet Li movie Hero, though they sat on it for a couple of years first, i'd already had it on R3 dvd for about 18 months before Miramax released it internationally. Same goes for Stephen Chow's excellent Shaolin Soccer.
These nominations failed as soon as Guy's Sherlock Holmes wasnt on the films list and Robert Downey Jr. Isnt on the best leading males list!!!!!
Fingers crossed The Hurt Locker sweeps the board...saw this last week, really great film.

Great film, Jeremy Renner is amazing in that though Bridges or Freeman will probably get the oscar, Avatar will win loads if the Golden Globes are anything to go by, i'd like to see Christophe Waltz win Best Supporting Actor for Inglourious Basterds, he's brilliant.
I watched Sherlock Holmes last night. Its a great film. Should definitely be on that list

Great film.Me and Nikki went to the piccies last week and see it.Don't really like Jude Law,but he was great in this.
I think Hurt Locker is next up on my Netflix queue.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role
Christoph Waltz for Inglourious Basterds (2009)
Glad to see Avatar only getting 2 and isn't the director of Hurt Locker Cameron's ex-missus ?

Ali Larter as well! COMON!! :P

The Resident Evil films are a disgrace to the games and a disgrace to zombie films in general ...
Cool h elooks younger so they'll have to do one of the alternate spideys i think. If not, they should atleast do the Man-Spider story where he turns into that monster thingy.
that's the one, that would be ace, could throw in some horror bits and have the vampire thing (Michael) and the Croc and the man who hunts aminals ... and wears a lion fur waist coat >_<
you can see i know lots of things like names for these characters
yeh but people think he's a baddy with him eating peoples plasma etc
hunter guy is called Kraven .... eventually found it on Wiki

Kraven brutally killed himself by blowing his head off with a shotgun. I'm up for seeing that in the film!
... the new untitled "Spider-Man" ... is meant to be a more teen-friendly incarnation, taking Peter Parker back to his early days of balancing girl trouble, homework, and crimefighting.

I do.
More often is just makes my eyes 'tired'. Makes the drive home uncomfortable for me (deathly scary for any passengers).
Erm, no!
I haven't actually seen Avatar yet and i'm in no rush to see it either.

You could have Martini and see double instead though!!
I didn't really find the first one funny

I thought Kane and Lynch were both white, or was the only person they could get Jamie Foxx? ;D
Look at Daredevil. The Kingpin is white, but somehow ended up as Michael Clark Duncan. But we'll let that one slide cos he's awesome.

Nope that was Ving Rhames, much better actor, who ended up being Kojak in the new TV series, another white character.
Kane & Lynch movie poster seen at Cannes
(http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2010/05/kanelynch51110.jpg)
The Kane & Lynch movie project appears to be moving smoothly -- it's to the "poster" stage already. Proving beyond a doubt that the casting is a "done deal"(as tweeted by writer Kyle Ward), Empire spotted a Kane & Lynch movie poster with billing for both Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx at the Cannes Film Festival. This poster covers the entrance to the Majestic Hotel, making it look a bit more like the Tacky Hotel.
According to Empire, the poster gives the film a 2011 date, but we don't see it. Perhaps it's behind that inconsiderately placed luggage cart.

Pretty cool video in the link, Michael Jai White as Jax and Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade and what looks like Rick Yune as Scorpion. Worth a look.
I see the green lantern and can't help think of Big Bang Theory! :D :D
Sub Zero is going to be awesome!
Maybe a new game will arise from this also, MK v DC was a joke! ;D

I really love Sub Zero always have had a hard on for him... I hope he's not the bad guy.
Yesterday Jeri Ryan, who played Sonya in the short, explained that it was "made for the director to sell [rights-holder Warner Bros.] on his vision for a re-imagined MK film".

What a genious way to secure a job. Get the internet to promote your vision before you even have a contract. Far more effective than 'pitching' scripts. 8)

Saints Row film to launch with next game
THQ has been pushing its "transmedia" efforts recently, having signed a deal to produce a two-hour TV movie based on Red Faction, which could turn into a TV series if successful.
That has to be a mockup. No way the voice actors would actualy portray the characters in a Hollywood production. I do like the poster though. Very Valve-esque. ;)

Your right there, Asian horror is pretty scary... but there just is this element to PA which just freaks me the frak out.... not sure if it was the first of it's kind in the horror genre but it was pretty scary, I almost slept with the light on :'(

I think the 'hype' killed it, because everyone was expecting some kind of Oscar-winning horror movie. Fortunately, I saw it before the ad campaign took over the internet.
I also watched it alone, in my home, in my bed, with the lights off, around 2am. ;D
Which Paranormal Craptivity ending do you prefer? Despite not liking the movie I preferred the original 2007 ending as opposed to the way too obvious reshot endings.
Which Paranormal Craptivity ending do you prefer? Despite not liking the movie I preferred the original 2007 ending as opposed to the way too obvious reshot endings.I prefer any ending because it meant the film had finished. I scare really easily and this didn't scare me at all
The second one looks scarier. But I might not be able to watch it. I shall have to make sure the baby is unharmed before I do :-[
Which Paranormal Craptivity ending do you prefer? Despite not liking the movie I preferred the original 2007 ending as opposed to the way too obvious reshot endings.
SPOILER ALERT!
I've only seen the ending where the police show up. Personally I liked how it ended with a very frank/realistic type of scenario. It kind of gives you that feeling that "Maybe this could really happen?"
I searched online and read the descriptions of the other endings. I like the sort of clever (perhaps unintended?) humor of the demon killing the girlfirend the same way the boyfriend threatened to kill the demon.
The "HEY JUMP AT THE CAMERA!!!" ending didn't really make sense to me. Maybe I have to see it. I understand it's an obvious setup for a sequel, but why the hell would the demon jump at the camera? And how did they film him/her/it carrying the boyfriend's body up the stairs? I really need to go watch this ending ...

Ok. I just watched the "HEY JUMP AT THE CAMERA!!!" ending. That's not at all what I had visualised when I read it. Why carry a body up a flight of stairs just to throw it at a camera? Why bite the lense of the camera?
Forget about the fact it's a movie, created by directors, writers, actors, etc. Let's just say it is real, which is what the whole movie was going for. If it was real, that ending would make it very difficulty for me to believe it.
The police ending is definitely my favorite.

If you ever see a movie that scares you (or eat a food that burns your tongue), PLEASE WARN US!!!! We don't want to get anywhere near it! :D :D
Old Boy is an excellent movie but the scene where he ties everything together is fantastic, anyone that has seen it will know what i'm talking about. It's something mainstream Hollywood wouldn't really go near, hence my love for Asian cinema, always pushing the boundaries of taste. :)
I could go on forever. :)

No doubt Eclipse will be even worse than the first two so we'll get a spoof of that soon that will be far superior too.

I saw the first 2 movies with my sisters (who are in their 30's by the way). I refused to watch the 3rd movie with them, but the next day they promised me it was better than the first 2.
I'm considering watching the 3rd just to see it's true. At least it couldn't get any worse. :D

It's the shiny part that most gets on my nerves, I can handle the crappy acting and crappy story and even worse special effects as i've seen far worse in other movies (The Matrix sequels being just two) but to mess with vampire lore like that is a disgrace, but whatever. :)

Would someone please explain to me why Robert Pattinson is considered "HOT". As far as I could tell it was the other guy the women at the cinema were drooling over. R-Patz is just some moody, dorky looking weirdo who will forever be the kid killed by Voldermort in one of the Harry Potter movies!
ew harry potter...

Are you excited, upset, indifferent, or ambivalent to the news? Put me in the ambivalent camp. While I'd love to see the original Star Wars trilogy on Blu-Ray, I'd like to have the option to choose between the theatrical and remastered versions.

Still buy it though!

If you thought the recent Street Fighter movie was bad, spare a thought for the King of Fighters movie, which is even worse.
Not that this is a bad thing. It looks so bad that it's worth a watch, if friends and booze were involved. Just...leave your feelings for King of Fighters - and Maggie Q - at the door.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Earlier today, I sat down at the W Hotel in Hollywood to talk with Darren Aronofsky and Natalie Portman about their new film, "Black Swan," and we'll have those conversations here for you in the week before the film opens.
For now, though, there's one tidbit worth passing along from our conversation. When Aronofsky was settling in for the interview, I mentioned to him that I had run into Matty Libatique the other night, and Aronofsky smiled. "I saw that." He offered up one correction to the information that we've run on the film so far, though, and as far as I can tell, this is the first time I've heard this.
The film that he's directing is officially called "The Wolverine," and there won't be a number attached to it. In our interview, he referred to the movie as a "one-off," and he emphasized that the film isn't a sequel in any conventional sense.
It's an interesting move, and it certainly separates this from Gavin Hood's movie, and from the larger "X-Men" franchise in general. Between this film and Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class," it sounds like any rules we've got in mind about these films and what to expect based on the first four films in the franchise are out the window.
Frankly, I like that. Comics have always made room for different artists and writers to take these icons and bend and twist them and try different things with them, so why shouldn't the films be the same way?
Neato you sat with Aronofsky & Portman today? Sweet :)
I love Ryan Reynolds .... he's soooo dreamyfunny you said that cuz i just thought of that..

This. 10 Things I Hate About You is one of my all-time Top 50. Love it.
The only other movie from that list in my Top 50 is The Dark Knight.
Toy Story 3 FTW.
I have to go with The King's Speech. It was definitely the best film I've seen in some time.
Plus Colin Firth is dreamy.
That's pretty funny.
Facebook (as a company) scares me.
Facebook (in general) scares the hell out of me.
I think the "hack" must have been an inside job. I find it hard to believe they don't have customized IP / MAC filters restricting access to his page. Someone using a company FB computer must have done it.
Henry Cavill - Henry Cavill Named As New Superman
The new film will be directed by Zack Snyder and released in December 2012.
I've got some official 'Avengers' news...they've cast Mr J. Hinton as 'Street Man #4'. Who's he you might ask, he's my bro... ;D
Just started working as an extra, he's been filming night-shoots with the second unit in LA for $100 a day.
Well 360DF now have an inside man...I'll post any proper news from him when I get it.

Actress Felicia Day, star of the blockbuster web series "The Guild" is teaming up with BioWare to create an all-new miniseries based in the Dragon Age universe called 'Dragon Age: Redemption'. Premiering online this summer. Felicia stars as Tallis, an Elven assassin working for the Qunari who gets a last chance at redemption.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF2mPgwrlT4
Felicia Day is cute and all, but even she can't salvage the DA2 web series. It looks awful. It is Xena, except the campyness is purely unintentional.

Even if it has no redeeming quality, there is undoubtedly a rabid obsessive niche audience that will empty their bank accounts if asked by a elven-eared Felicia Day. That's like 7 different nerd fantasies in 1.

I have to agree. I know Star Wars basically paved the way for modern sci-fi, but it took me several attempts to actually find the will to watch them.
I'll take Indiana Jones (even Willow) of Star Wars anyday. ;)

Paramount Pictures is feeling the need for speed again.
According to Vulture, the studio has officially has made offers to producer Jerry Bruckheimer ("Pirates of the Caribbean") and director Tony Scott ("The Taking of Pelham 123") to develop a sequel to 1986's "Top Gun."
Christopher McQuarrie will pen the script and Tom Cruise is slated to return, albeit in limited capacity, as Maverick.
McQuarrie's rep confirmed to EW.com Thursday that the screenwriter had, in fact, been approached to write the film.

'Bill & Ted''s Third Excellent Script Nearly Complete
(http://www.nextmovie.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/BillAndTed.jpg)
Here are some of the things that have happened since 1991: the United States elected its first African-American president, Pluto ceased being a planet, the Boston Red Sox won the World Series and Justin Bieber was born. But the one thing that still hasn't come together? A script for the long rumoured third "Bill & Ted" film.
Until now, that is.
MTV News has a new exclusive interview with Keanu Reeves and no less an authority than Ted himself swears that within the next few weeks, a script will be delivered to him for "Bill & Ted 3." Probably. Maybe. Check out the Earth-shattering interview right here (http://www.mtv.com/videos/movies/639059/rough-cut-keanu-reeves-talks-bill-and-ted-3.jhtml) and find out for yourself whether we'll see it soon -- or if we'll have to wait another 20 years. Good thing those guys can time travel!
Oh and another thing that hasn't happened since 1991, Liverpool winning a league title! ;D
I'm still waiting for Mr Reeves to do us all a favour and retire!
Still waiting for that ['Bebop (http://splashpage.mtv.com/2011/04/05/cowboy-bebop-keanu-reeves/)] film that's been promised on and off again by Mr. Reeves.
This is nuts...... in a good way!

I saw the documentary on this guy a few years ago. It should make a really good movie. Heres the wiki link about the man himself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Kuklinski
In 1949, Kuklinski, 14, ambushed and beat Charley Lane, the leader of a small gang of teenagers known as "The Project Boys," who had bullied him for some time.[7] Following a particularly bad beating Kuklinski sought revenge, attacking Lane with a thick wooden dowel, eventually beating him to death, although he denied wanting to kill Lane. Kuklinski then dumped Lane's body off a bridge in South Jersey after removing his teeth and chopping off his finger tips with a hatchet in an effort to prevent identification of the body.[8] He then went on to savagely beat the remaining six boys in Lane's gang. He later joked that "Giving is better than receiving."

Ready For A Twins Sequel? Triplets may be on the way...
Someone obviously decided that this is Announce Sequels Many Thought Would Never Happen Week. This one is even more unexpected than Anchorman 2 yesterday. After years of rumours, chit-chat, denials, whispers and Danny DeVito mentioning the idea, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Universal is planning to produce Triplets, a sequel to 1988 comedy Twins. And it’s one that would not only reunite DeVito with onscreen brother Arnold Schwarzenegger but also… wait for it… would add Eddie Murphy as their new surprise sibling!
This could either be the greatest thing to happen to ‘80s comedy film franchises in the history of the universe or, you know, it could be an appalling concept that will bring about the Mayan apocalypse a few months early. :P
True, the first film – which hinged on an experiment to create the perfect human that spawns Schwarzenegger’s Herculean philosopher Julius and yet somehow also burps out DeVito’s low-rent Vincent – couldn’t be more of a mixed bag if it was found in a bag containing several smaller bags of pick ‘n’ mix. In a food mixer. Which in turn is in a cement mixer. But there was some decent comic material to be had as the mismatched men thwarted nasty loan shark types who were after small-scale shyster Vincent.
Right now, all that exists is a twinkle in producer Ivan Reitman’s eye, but he’s working with his Montecito Picture Company and the studio to track down a writer and flesh out the concept that would see Julius and Vincent joined by Murphy’s fellow relation. The actors are all attached, but it remains to be seen if this will make it down the development birth canal.
Reitman won’t be calling the shots this time, so there’s a chance for someone else to bottle the magic that only happens when you combine the Austrian Oak and the man who spins stories of monkey attacks on his genitals… And let's face it, after A Thousand Words, Murphy could use a comedy people might actually want to see...

First promo posters for Sin City 2 and Machete Kills
Sin City 2 and Machete Kills, the forthcoming projects from Robert Rodriguez, have both released their first promotional material in the form of a pair of cool new teaser posters.
First up, we have the one-sheet for Machete Kills, which harks back to the film's grindhouse origins with a scuzzy, peeling image spattered with blood and miscellaneous grime. You can just picture it hanging outside a dingy fleapit cinema, giving passing gorehounds the come-on...
The poster for Sin City 2 is a far more stylish affair, making great play of the film's A Dame To Kill For subtitle, alongside a host of visual cues reminiscent of the first film. Monochrome background... check. Flash of blood-red foreground colouring... check. Driving rain... check.
Machete Kills will be the first to film, with Rodriguez having added a number of new cast members in recent weeks including Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard and Michelle Rodriguez. Oh, and then there's Mel Gibson, of course. Sin City 2 will come along shortly after, although Rodriguez has suggested he could delegate some filming on Machete, should he need to make his schedule work.
Both films are expected to arrive in 2013. In the meantime, you can feast your eyes upon both posters, below...

Sony developing Shadow of the Colossus movie
Chronicle director Josh Trank is in charge
A movie based on Team Ico's beloved PlayStation 2 adventure Shadow of the Colossus is currently in the works at Sony Pictures, according to a Deadline (http://www.deadline.com/2012/05/chronicle-helmer-josh-trank-takes-on-shadow-of-the-colossus-for-sony-pictures/) report.
Josh Trank, the man behind this year's solid found-footage superhero flick Chronicle, has signed on to direct the live action adaptation and is currently looking for a scriptwriter.
No indication was offered as to when the film might arrive in cinemas or who might be cast in the leading roles.
For the uninitiated, the 2005 game tells the story of a young man who sets out on a quest to slay 16 giants in an attempt to revive a girl named Mono.
Trank is apparently a huge fan of Team Ico's work and deliberately sought out the project.

Here's the first official pic from the new Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger movie: The Tomb, with Arnie rocking the silver look.
The film follows Ray Breslin (Stallone), the world's finest designer of high security prisons. After being framed for a crime he did not commit (like people get 'framed' for crimes they did), Breslin's expertise will get put to work in the most challenging test he's ever faced: escaping from a high-tech prison facility he designed. Arnie is an inmate who cares to join him.
Curtis Jackson,Vinnie Jones, Amy Ryan, Sam Neill, Vincent D’Onofrio and Jim Caviezel also star. It'll be out next year.
Scribes Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, who were the architects of Disney's "National Treasure" franchise, have been tapped to rewrite "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" for Sony Pictures, Atlas Entertainment and Arad Prods.
Neil Burger ("Limitless") is no longer attached to direct the big-budget adaptation of Sony PlayStation's blockbuster "Uncharted" videogame franchise, developed by Naughty Dog. Project will wait until the Wibberleys complete their script to tap a new helmer.
Story charts the journey of protag Nathan Drake as he seeks the fabled lost treasure of El Dorado.
Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are producing for Atlas, while Avi and Ari Arad will produce through their Arad Prods. banner.
The Wibberleys wrote both "National Treasure" pics as well as Sony's "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle." The WME-repped duo also created the USA Network series "Common Law."

Eddie Murphy and Shawn Ryan to produce beverly hills cop series
”Get the f*#k outta here!” because Beverly Hills Cop is getting a TV show spin-off. After last year’s heartbreaking news about Beverly Hills Cop 4, fans were disappointed by the studio’s decision to shelf the fourth installment in the mega successful franchise. But good news emerged soon after and Eddie Murphy was set to produce a TV series based on the hit action-comedy franchise. That was a year ago and today, almost a year later, we can finally bring you some more exciting updates.
Vulture reports The Shield creator, Shawn Ryan, is working with Eddie Murphy and Sony Pictures Television for a Beverly Hills Cop TV series. To get us even more excited about the news, the duo just pitched their show idea to the networks yesterday. In addition to producing, Murphy will also have a small starring stint in the show, hopefully to reprise his role as the hilarious Axel Foley.
According to last year’s Rolling Stone interview with Murphy, the proposed show would follow “Axel Foley’s son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit.” At the time, Murphy was already open to appearing on the show in that capacity, saying he would “do the pilot, show up here and there,” and that still seems to be the case with the actor set to star in the pilot and a few “special” episodes of the series first season (if and when it gets one).
Vulture’s sources described the show’s pitch as a “standard buddy-cop show designed to be a crime procedural with some strong comedic elements.”
More official details are bound to emerge any day now. The project has yet to find a network home, but with Ryan and Murphy on board, lets just that the show is off to a very good start.

Michael Clarke Duncan, 'Green Mile' Actor, Dead at 54
(http://www.thewrap.com/movies/sites/default/files/imagecache/scale_width_640/main_image/green.biginside.jpg)
Michael Clarke Duncan, an Oscar nominee for “The Green Mile” died Monday at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 54.
Publicist Joy Fehily released a statement from Clarke’s fiancée, the Rev. Omarosa Manigault, saying that Duncan died Monday morning after nearly two months of hospitalization following a July 13 heart attack.
Duncan, who was nominated for an Academy Award for best supporting actor and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of death-row inmate John Coffey in 1999's "The Green Mile," most recently starred as Leo Knox in the Fox series "The Finder." He also appeared in the film hits "Armageddon," "The Whole Nine Yards," "Planet of the Apes" and "Kung Fu Panda."
The 6-foot-4, 315-pound Duncan "suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13 and never fully recovered," the statement said.
Duncan was born in 1957 and grew up on the south side of Chicago in a single-parent household with his sister, Judy, and mother, Jean Duncan. He attended Alcorn State University, but left early to support his family when his mother became ill.
Duncan worked as ditch digger and nightclub bouncer after his college years and moved to Los Angeles to launch an acting career in 1995.He became a bodyguard for actors Will Smith and Martin Lawrence and began to draw attention after appearing in 1998's "Armageddon."
Comedian Steve Harvey was among those offering condolences on Twitter. "I will miss my friend, Michael Clarke Duncan. What an incredible soldier in God's Plan," he tweeted.
"Rest in Peace to my brother who paved the way for me and many Black actors," tweeted actor Terry Crews. "Honored to have known him and called him a friend to me and my family."
Clarke served as a spokesman for a number of causes. Earlier this year, he appeared in a video for PETA, the animal rights organization, in which he spoke of how much better he felt since becoming a vegetarian three years earlier.
Duncan also starred in a public service announcement for the American Stroke Association to raise awareness of strokes.
After establishing himself as a Hollywood actor, Duncan continued to work in games. He voiced the character of Atlas in God of War II, Benjamin in the first Saints Row, a crime lord in survival horror game The Suffering: Ties That Bind, the character of Ygori in fantasy game Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone, and SEAL Operative Wardog in tactical shooter SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs. Other games he did voice work for include first-person-shooter Soldier of Fortune and Star Trek Klingon Academy.

Ghostbusters 3 Planned For Summer 2013 Shoot
Rumored for more than two decades, Ghostbusters 3 appears to finally be moving forward, albeit without leading man Bill Murray. Deadline reports that the current schedule calls for Ivan Reitman to return as director with a summer 2013 production start being targeted.
Dan Aykroyd previously confirmed reports that the plot will revolve around a new generation of Ghostbusters and hinted at the states of his and Harold Ramis' characters.
"My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can't drive the cadillac," he said, "He's got a bad knee and can't carry the packs... Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that's the promise. We're gonna hand it to a new generation."
Etan Cohen was recently brought in to rewrite the script, working from a draft by Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg.
Assuming Ghostbusters 3 hits its production mark, it's likely that the sequel will be released in 2014, tying into the original film's 30th anniversary.

Disney to Buy Lucasfilm for $4.05 Billion; New 'Star Wars' Movie Set for 2015
(http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/sites/default/files/2012/10/robert_iger_george_lucas_signing_a_l.jpg)
The Walt Disney Co. has acquired Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion in cash and stock and announced a new Star Wars movie to be released in 2015.
Kathleen Kennedy, current co-chair of Lucasfilm, will become Lucasfilm's president, reporting to Walt Disney Studios chair Alan Horn as part of the stock and cash transaction. Disney is paying approximately half the price in cash and will issue 40 million shares of stock, the company said Tuesday in a statement.
Kennedy will serve as executive producer on new Star Wars feature films, with the franchise's creator and Lucasfilm founder George Lucas, 68, serving as creative consultant. There are plans to release a new Star Wars film every two or three years.
“For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next,” said Lucas, chairman and CEO of Lucasfilm, in a statement. “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come. Disney’s reach and experience give Lucasfilm the opportunity to blaze new trails in film, television, interactive media, theme parks, live entertainment and consumer products.”
The deal comes on the heels of Disney's 2009 acquisition of Marvel Entertainment and its 2006 purchase of Pixar Animation Studios, two potent entertainment brands that appeal to families. The Disney board has approved the Lucasfilm acquisition, but it is subject to antitrust scrutiny by the U.S. government.
While Lucas and Disney have had a long relationship, it has been most visible at the company's theme parks, where Star Tours and other attractions have been popular for more than two decades.
However, the Stars Wars movies have been distributed through Twentieth Century Fox, which will now be cut out of future Star Wars and other related business. (Though Fox already has been set to release 3D versions of the past Star Wars movies, it is unclear if that relationship will be impacted by the sale. The acquisition also raises questions about the future of Stars Wars: Clone Wars, a highly popular series on Cartoon Network, which is owned by a Disney competitor, Turner Broadcasting, a division of Time Warner.)
Disney also is acquiring Lucasfilm’s hugely profitable consumer products and merchandising businesses, which should be a good fit for the buyer.
“Lucasfilm reflects the extraordinary passion, vision and storytelling of its founder, George Lucas,” said Bob Iger, Disney chairman and CEO, in a statement. “This transaction combines a world-class portfolio of content including Star Wars, one of the greatest family entertainment franchises of all time, with Disney’s unique and unparalleled creativity across multiple platforms, businesses and markets to generate sustained growth and drive significant long-term value.”
In a call with investors, Iger said the first new Star Wars movie was targeted for 2015, and that the company planned for another movie every 2-3 years after that. Disney releases 8-10 pictures per year, including one from Pixar and up to two from Marvel Studios. The plan is for a Star Wars movie in one of those tentpole slots.
Iger told investors that Star Wars was a perfect proerty for TV, particularly the company's young male-skewing network Disney XD, and plans to expand its presence in its theme parks.
In addition, while Star Wars merchandise has been a big business, that business has mostly been domestic, Iger said. Using Marvel as a model, Disney plans to grow international marketing of Star Wars products by increasing the brand's presence in their stores, with more toys and with with other products.

Hobbits get serious about air safety
(http://cdn.cnet.com.au/story_media/339342297/air_1.jpg)
Weta has teamed up with Air New Zealand to produce a Hobbit-inspired safety video that includes a cameo by Peter Jackson.
Those airline safety videos they make you watch as the plane taxis out can be a massive yawn-fest. We may or may not be guilty of tuning out in favour of reading something vastly more interesting — the instructions on the air sickness bag, for example.
Air New Zealand understands this. For a while now, the airline has been producing funny safety videos in a variety of styles in order to get people to pay attention.
The latest — An Unexpected Briefing — was made in partnership with Peter Jackson's Weta, and features a motley cast of elves, hobbits, dwarves and other assorted characters from Middle Earth.
Conclusion: Every airline safety video from now on should have at least one hobbit.

Today, AMC announces the season 4 pick-up of The Walking Dead.
AMC also jointly announces with Glen Mazzara today that for future seasons, the two parties have mutually decided to part ways. Glen guided the series creatively for seasons 2 and 3. AMC is grateful for his hard work. We are both proud of our shared success.
Both parties acknowledge that there is a difference of opinion about where the show should go moving forward, and conclude that it is best to part ways. This decision is amicable and Glen will remain on for post-production on season 3B as showrunner and executive producer.

There was a deal in place, and it was in production at Universal - Gore Verbinski was directing it," he said. "My theory is that Gore wanted to make a hard R film - which is like a 17/18 plus, where you can have blood and naked girls. Well, I don't think he wanted naked girls. But he wanted a lot of blood.
Then Watchmen came out, and it didn't do well for whatever reason. The studio then got cold feet about making an R rated $200 million film, and they said what if it was a $80 million film - and Gore didn't want to make a $80 million film.
They brought another director in, and I didn't really see the match there - and 2K's one of these companies that puts a lot of creative trust in people. So they said if you want to kill it, kill it. And I killed it.
...It was saying I don't need to compromise - how many times in life do you not need to compromise? It comes along so rarely, but I had the world, the world existed and I didn't want to see it done in a way that I didn't think was right. It may happen one day, who knows, but it'd have to be the right combination of people.

Zack Snyder confirms that Man Of Steel sequel will be a Batman-Superman movie: Comic-Con 2013
Makes the announcement at the Warner Bros panel
(http://cdn.mos.totalfilm.com/images/z/zack-snyder-confirms-that-man-of-steel-will-be-a-batman-superman-movie-comic-con-2013-140609-a-1374357760-470-75.jpg)
Zack Snyder appeared at the end of Warner Bros' 2013 Comic-Con panel to confirm that the Man Of Steel sequel would be a Batman-Supeman movie.
He didn’t give away any plot details, but he did get Man Of Steel actor Harry Lennix to read out a line from the comics that suggested Superman and Batman might not be best buds in the film, which is currently being written.
“I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.,” read Lennix in his authoritative tone, recalling the famous line that Batman says to Superman after an almighty smackdown in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.
After that, the lights went down and a logo appeared on the Hall's giant screens...
Snyder said the line was hint, rather than a direct indicator of where the story would go.
Unsurprisingly, the news blew the roof off of Comic-Con’s Hall H, and will likely be the biggest announcement of the festival.
Start the Batman casting rumours now!

YESASIA and HKFlix are the best places to get Chinese stuff imported, you'll also get the fully uncut version and not the version Wong Kar Wai had to cut to keep Harvey Weinstein happy, he's always forcing cuts on Asian films, apparently US audiences can't watch films over 2 hours long!
The actor will replace Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne in the upcoming untitled Superman-Batman feature for Warner Bros., the studio announced Thursday.
Affleck becomes the eighth actor to play the Caped Crusader, following Bale, George Clooney and Michael Keaton.
“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some,” WB president Greg Silverman said in a statement.
Directed by “Man of Steel” filmmaker Zack Snyder, the Superman-Batman feature will open worldwide on July 17, 2015, with Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Diane Lane reprising their roles.
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne,” Snyder said in a statement. “I can’t wait to work with him.”
The announcement of a Batman-Superman film was revealed last month at Comic-con to much excitement of fanboys, who will surely be watching as the studio begins to assemble its Justice League.
The irony of Thursday’s news is that at one point Warner Bros. was interested in having Affleck direct the “Justice League” movie and his participation in this film will now spur interest if whether his casting means a possibility of directing that film.

Seriously? He's a one dimensional character/actor. Bit like Nicholas Cage. Same person in every movie!
We are saddened to learn of Tom Clancy’s passing and our condolences go out to his family. Tom Clancy was an extraordinary author with a gift for creating detailed, engrossing fictional stories that captivated audiences around the world. "Fast and Furious" Actor, Paul Walker Killed In Car Accident
(http://www.eonline.com/eol_images/Entire_Site/20131030/rs_560x415-131130183425-1024.Paul-Walker-RIP-2-jmd-113013_copy.jpg)
Star of the Hollywood Blockbuster Franchise "Fast and Furious" was involved in a deadly single car accident in Southern California on Saturday. Officials claim speed was definitely a factor in the actor's death.
Walker was a passenger in a friend's 2005 Porsche Carrera GT and both were attending a charity event for his organization, Reach Out Worldwide, in the community of Valencia in Santa Clarita, about 30 miles north of Hollywood.
The website for the charity said the Saturday event was intended to benefit victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
The wreck took place about 3:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. ET), about 300 yards from the office park where the event was held. The speed limit there is 45 mph. Up and down the road near the crash site were burned rubber and doughnut marks as though someone smoked their tires in figure 8 patterns.
"I don't know if the marks in the road are related to the crash," said Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Brian Allen.
Once fire crews put the flames out, they found two occupants, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene Saturday evening, all that remained was the burnt mangled metal of the red car and a light pole that had been knocked down. The county coroner said that, given the condition of the bodies, it will take some time to definitively identify them.
Paul Walker was 40 years of age and leaves behind a 15-year old daughter, Meadow.

Haven't really kept up with wrestling since age 12 or so, but definitely remember the character. The timing of this seems really eerie too, since a few days prior he'd apparently been inducted into the HOF.
The actor Bob Hoskins has died aged 71. His agent said that he died on Tuesday, surrounded by his family, suffering from pneumonia. He retired in 2012 following a diagnosis with Parkinson's disease in the autumn of 2011.
One of Britain's best-loved actors, Hoskins was known for his gruff bonhomie, and career that spanned more than 30 years. He first found fame on the small screen in Dennis Potter's Pennies from Heaven, and then in cinemas as a London gangster-turned-businessman in The Long Good Friday (1980).
Hoskins had leading roles in Brazil (1985), Mona Lisa (1986), Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988), Mermaids (1990) and Super Mario Bros (1993) – which he described in a 2007 Guardian interview as "the worst thing I ever did".
Many will also remember him fondly for a series of adverts shot in the late 80s and early 90s for BT with his catchphrase, "It's good to talk". He teamed up with Shane Meadows for Twenty Four Seven (1997) and A Room for Romeo Brass (2000), and winning much acclaim for his role in Atom Egoyan's Felicia's Journey (1999).
Speaking to the Guardian, Meadows said:
"Bob Hoskins is the most generous actor I have worked with. He not only took a huge chance on me when he agreed to star in my first feature film, he taught me so much about the business, how to survive it and how to stay true to yourself. When we travelled to New York together back in the late 90's to promote Twenty Four Seven, the film company had put Bob in first class and me in with the chickens. Bob refused to go unless they upgraded me to first or downgraded him to economy. They upgraded me thank goodness but knowing he would have forgone the champers and flambé steak to sit in twerp class with me says it all really; he was a true gentleman."
In 2005 he starred alongside Judi Dench in Stephen Frears's Mrs Henderson Presents. Dench told the Guardian: "I'm so very sorry to hear this news, and am thinking of his family at this sad time."

Uncharted Film Expected To Begin Shooting In Early 2015
(http://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/35727840/5246241367_596144767e_o.0_cinema_960.0.jpg)
A film of "Uncharted" has been in development since early 2008, with directors David O. Russell and Neil Burger both accepting the project and then eventually passing on it. Gordon is confident that "Uncharted" will finally get its movie adaptation this go around because of both its timing to the upcoming "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" video game, as well the fact the team "just got the script to a really good place."
When asked when he expects "Uncharted" to go in front of the camera, Gordon says, "I think very early next year. That's the plan." Though that is months from now, he notes, "That's like tomorrow, essentially, because the prep is so complicated for the movie." Gordon says the setting of the movie will be "very international" and "all over the world."
Mark Wahlberg was previously attached to play the character of Nathan Drake, and Gordon says the production is still looking for an actor of Wahlberg's caliber. "I want it to be a great actor," Gordon says. "That's number one, and then if it's someone who has an actual jaw, that's even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There's no way we'd do the inverse of that where it's somebody famous who can't [act]."
Few plot details have been revealed about the "Uncharted" script, but Gordon will say that it doesn't completely rehash Drake's story from the games. "It's going to honor the mythology of the game, but I would say honor some of the most interesting stuff from the first one and build from there," he says. "There's some stuff that isn't in the game."
Gordon continues, "I love the complexity and frankly the sophistication of the storytelling in the game, and we aspire to that -- but don't want to tell the exact same story, of course -- so something that doesn't break the rules of what it did but expands. Because I feel like the people who play the games and know them well don't want to just see the same story told. You want extra shades."

Oscar Winning Actor Robin Williams Dead At 63
(http://www.robin-williams.net/images/interviews/general/11-04.jpg)
Legendary actor and comedian Robin Williams died on Monday, a suspected suicide. He was 63.
The Marin County coroner said in a statement that the death was suspected "to be a suicide due to asphyxia."
"Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late," said the comedian's spokeswoman Mara Buxbaum. "This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time."
His wife, Susan Schneider, added: "This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."
Williams, who won the Academy Award for best supporting actor for 1998's "Good Will Hunting," is survived by his wife and three children – son Zachary, 31; daughter Zelda, 25 and son Cody, 22. Williams married Schneider, his third wife, in 2011.
Williams, who most recently starred in the CBS comedy "The Crazy Ones," had recently entered rehab in July, though it was reported at the time that he had entered the Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center in Minnesota in order to maintain his long-term sobriety.
The actor, born in Chicago, rose to fame on the "Happy Days" spinoff "Mork and Mindy," playing the space alien Mork from the planet Ork. The actor, who struggled with substance abuse through the decades, went on to big-screen success in films such as "Good Morning, Vietnam," "The Fisher King" and "Good Will Hunting," which earned him the Oscar in the supporting actor category.
As a comedian, Williams was known for his manic genius, though he also proved adept in dramatic roles.
The Marin County Sheriff's Office Coroner Division made the following announcement:
On August 11, 2014, at approximately 11:55 am, Marin County Communications received a 9-1-1 telephone call reporting a male adult had been located unconscious and not breathing inside his residence in unincorporated Tiburon, CA. The Sheriff's Office, as well as the Tiburon Fire Department and Southern Marin Fire Protection District were dispatched to the incident with emergency personnel arriving on scene at 12:00 pm. The male subject, pronounced deceased at 12:02 pm has been identified as Robin McLaurin Williams, a 63 year old resident of unincorporated Tiburon, CA.
An investigation into the cause, manner, and circumstances of the death is currently underway by the Investigations and Coroner Divisions of the Sheriff's Office. Preliminary information developed during the investigation indicates Mr. Williams was last seen alive at his residence, where he resides with his wife, at approximately 10:00 pm on August 10, 2014. Mr. Williams was located this morning shortly before the 9-1-1 call was placed to Marin County Communications. At this time, the Sheriff's Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made. A forensic examination is currently scheduled for August 12, 2014 with subsequent toxicology testing to be conducted.

Today, Guillemot confirmed recent reports that the movie is slated for a Dec. 21, 2016, release.
Leonard Nimoy, Spock of ‘Star Trek,’ Dies at 83
(http://static01.nyt.com/images/2015/02/27/arts/leonard-nimoy-obit/leonard-nimoy-obit-videoSixteenByNine540-v2.jpg)
Leonard Nimoy, the sonorous, gaunt-faced actor who won a worshipful global following as Mr. Spock, the resolutely logical human-alien first officer of the Starship Enterprise in the television and movie juggernaut “Star Trek,” died on Friday morning at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles. He was 83.
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/27/arts/television/leonard-nimoy-spock-of-star-trek-dies-at-83.html?_r=0
Following the passing of Leonard Nimoy last week, space games like Star Trek Online, Elite: Dangerous, and Star Citizen all have heart-warming plans to memorialize the man who brought Spock to life.
Players on Star Trek Online have found their own ways of paying respects to Nimoy already—as MrMorlonelycat posted on Reddit, many players logged in to the in-game version of Vulcan, the planet that Spock hailed from. Hearteningly, around a thousand players congregated and paid their respects.
Given Nimoy's immense influence on the sci-fi world, it's probably not surprising to hear that Star Trek Online isn't the only game memorializing him in some way. Eurogamer reports that Elite: Dangerous, an outer-space sim that lets you take on the role of a space commander, has memorial plans as well. According to executive producer Michael Brookes, an upcoming Elite: Dangerous expansion will bring with it a "Nimoy Memorial station."
Similarly, space sim Star Citizen plans to add something special to the game to commemorate Nimoy. "I think it's safe to say that Mr. Nimoy was an inspiration to all of us on the team, both acting as Spock and because of his core, kind humanity," Ben Lesnick, a developer on the game, wrote on Star Citizen's forums. "We will find an appropriate way to honor him."

The Joker will be played by Jared Leto; Deadshot will be Will Smith; Harley Quinn is Margot Robbie; Boomerang is Jai Courtney; Enchantress is Cara Delevingne, and Tom Hardy is Rick Flagg.
David Ayer (Fury) is both writing the script and directing.
Warner Bros. President, Greg Silverman released this statement about the future film:
