Ugh.  National Treasure?  Charlie's Angels?  Mark Wahlberg?  The Uncharted movie may be over before it began.   #)

Replace Wahlberg with Fillion and all will be well, shame it won't happen though!

With the uber Hollywood cred Joss Whedon has after Avengers, if he somehow became involved in the movie I'm sure casting Fillion would be his first action.

... shame it won't happen though.   :'(

Eddie Murphy and Shawn Ryan to produce beverly hills cop series

”Get the f*#k outta here!” because Beverly Hills Cop is getting a TV show spin-off. After last year’s heartbreaking news about Beverly Hills Cop 4, fans were disappointed by the studio’s decision to shelf the fourth installment in the mega successful franchise. But good news emerged soon after and Eddie Murphy was set to produce a TV series based on the hit action-comedy franchise. That was a year ago and today, almost a year later, we can finally bring you some more exciting updates.

Vulture reports The Shield creator, Shawn Ryan, is working with Eddie Murphy and Sony Pictures Television for a Beverly Hills Cop TV series. To get us even more excited about the news, the duo just pitched their show idea to the networks yesterday. In addition to producing, Murphy will also have a small starring stint in the show, hopefully to reprise his role as the hilarious Axel Foley.

According to last year’s Rolling Stone interview with Murphy, the proposed show would follow “Axel Foley’s son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit.” At the time, Murphy was already open to appearing on the show in that capacity, saying he would “do the pilot, show up here and there,” and that still seems to be the case with the actor set to star in the pilot and a few “special” episodes of the series first season (if and when it gets one).

Vulture’s sources described the show’s pitch as a “standard buddy-cop show designed to be a crime procedural with some strong comedic elements.”

More official details are bound to emerge any day now. The project has yet to find a network home, but with Ryan and Murphy on board, lets just that the show is off to a very good start.

The fan community is abuzz today with a new rumor that suggests that Batman's next big screen appearance might not be in the proposed Warner Bros. reboot but could, instead, be as a team member of the seemingly fast-tracked Justice League. The story, which originated at Batman on Film, suggests that the superhero ensemble will be the next DC Comics superhero adaptation after next summer's Man of Steel.

The major element that appears to lend credence to this report is the fact that Justice League has a completed screenplay from Gangster Squad screenwriter Will Beall while another solo adventure of the Caped Crusader currently exists almost entirely in speculation. Some have suggested that Warner Bros. should find a way to continue Christopher Nolan's trilogy while others have called for a more dramatic reboot of the character, potentially adapting a property like "Batman Beyond."

What's important to remember is that, as much as fans wish it to be the case, there's currently no guarantee that Justice League will share a cinematic universe with any films past, present or future. Although the approach certainly worked for Marvel's The Avengers, Warner Bros. doesn't necessarily need to continue with Henry Cavill as Superman nor would they need to keep whoever they cast as Batman for a franchise reboot.

After all, when the studio was moving forward with George Miller's now-defunct motion-capture take on the property a few years ago, it was being planned to feature a Batman unlike anything in Nolan's films and the two projects would have seen release independently of one another.

That being said, Justice League could indeed wind up the launching place for a new take on the Dark Knight, but only time will tell for sure what Warner Bros. has in mind for the DC superheroes.

Metal Gear Solid movie announced
Courtesy of Columbia Pictures

X-Men and Spider-Man producer Avi Arad announced at the Metal Gear Solid 25th Anniversary event in Japan that Metal Gear Solid is ready to become a movie.

There has been talk in the past of Metal Gear Solid making its way to Hollywood, but it never quite made it. Metal Gear designer Hideo Kojima did hint at a movie earlier this year, but suggested that the series wasn't ready to move into Hollywood just yet.

But clearly, now it is: Avi Arad took to the stage as a special guest at the Metal Gear Solid 25th Anniversary event and announced the Metal Gear movie.

Arad, the producer of X-Men and Spider-Man said "for many years I fought to bring comics to theaters...and video games are the comics of today."

What would you like to see in a Metal Gear Solid movie?

As reported yesterday, ABC has picked up Joss Whedon's "S.H.I.E.L.D." to the pilot stage as a part of his exclusive deal with Marvel Studios. It wasn't long after this was reported that we all started to wonder where it would fit into the larger scheme of the Marvel films.

Variety now has some quotes from Whedon about the project who said not to call it a 'spinoff.' Whedon also said the series will be 'autonomous' to The Avengers sequel that he is writing and directing.

Whedon will write the pilot alongside his brother, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen (who previously worked with Whedon on "Dollhouse" and "Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog"). All three will also join Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb as executive producers. It's rumored that Whedon may also direct the pilot, but that nothing is confirmed at this time.

So how involved will Whedon be? Variety's Cynthia Littleton tweeted that "[Joss] reserves right to pepper in bits here and there. His bro Jed and Maurissa T. will be showrunners, he'll just show up every now and then 'and take credit for everything.'"

Writers Give New God of War Movie Details

In July, it was announced that Sony Pictures had brought on board Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to write the new screenplay for the studio's God of War movie. In addition to work on the upcoming Pacific Rim, Melton and Dunstan have worked on films in the "Saw" series and the recent Piranha 3DD.

On Thursday, IGN got a chance to ask the duo about the big screen adaptation of the video game series. They told the site that their first step in updating David Self's previous draft of the script was to humanize the main character Kratos more. "In the same way that Batman was grounded with Christopher Nolan's rendition, we were attempting to do that with Kratos so that when we meet him -- like they're doing in this newest game, which is sort of a prequel to the original -- we're seeing him before he became the Ghost of Sparta, when he was just a Spartan warrior and he had family and kids."

They added that "In the game... there's that attack from the barbarians and Kratos has to call upon Ares to help him. Really, that's going to be our first act break. Before then, he's going to be mortal, and he's going to have his family. We're going to learn about him and understand how he operates. So it's potentially 30 minutes -- give or take -- of building up this character so that, when he does turn and becomes the Ghost of Sparta, we understand him as a human and we understand the journey that he's going to take. We're emotionally invested, so that it could go beyond just this one movie."

They will also be making the villain, Ares, a more proactive villain in the movie. "In the game, you know, he's immortal, and he doesn't really do much besides raid Athens... So we're trying to build him up a bit more, too, so that he can become a true villain."

Sad News   :(

Michael Clarke Duncan, 'Green Mile' Actor, Dead at 54

Michael Clarke Duncan, an Oscar nominee for “The Green Mile” died Monday at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 54.

Publicist Joy Fehily released a statement from Clarke’s fiancée, the Rev. Omarosa Manigault, saying that Duncan died Monday morning after nearly two months of hospitalization following a July 13 heart attack.

Duncan, who was nominated for an Academy Award for best supporting actor and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of  death-row inmate John Coffey in 1999's "The Green Mile," most recently starred as Leo Knox in the Fox series "The Finder." He also appeared in the film hits "Armageddon," "The Whole Nine Yards," "Planet of the Apes" and "Kung Fu Panda."

The 6-foot-4, 315-pound Duncan "suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13 and never fully recovered," the statement said.

Duncan was born in 1957 and grew up on the south side of Chicago in a single-parent household with his sister, Judy, and mother, Jean Duncan. He attended Alcorn State University, but left early to support his family when his mother became ill.

Duncan worked as ditch digger and nightclub bouncer after his college years and moved to Los Angeles to launch an acting career in 1995.He became a bodyguard for actors Will Smith and Martin Lawrence and began to draw attention after appearing in 1998's "Armageddon."

Comedian Steve Harvey was among those offering condolences on Twitter. "I will miss my friend, Michael Clarke Duncan. What an incredible soldier in God's Plan," he tweeted.

"Rest in Peace to my brother who paved the way for me and many Black actors," tweeted actor Terry Crews. "Honored to have known him and called him a friend to me and my family."

Clarke served as a spokesman for a number of causes. Earlier this year, he appeared in a video for PETA, the animal rights organization, in which he spoke of how much better he felt since becoming a vegetarian three years earlier.

Duncan also starred in a public service announcement for the American Stroke Association to raise awareness of strokes.
