Still haven't been able to understand why it costs 800msp to change a gamertag...other than the obvious, "It's Microsoft..." answer.

I think originally, you couldn't change your gamertag at all. To make people happy, they later created the option, but made you pay to prevent abuse/scams/etc.
But this generation, all of your gaming history and stuff carries with you regardless of what your gamertag is, so the abuse/scams/etc. factor isn't as likely. I think now we're just experiecing the "
Companies will charge what people are willing to pay" price theory.
Consumers control the market, they just keep forgetting. I don't blame a company for taking money from stupid people. I blame stupid people for making companies charge more than I'm willing to pay.
