32-player MP in Modern Warfare 3 - report

At least some of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer modes will support 32 players, according to leaked gameplay footage.

As reported by SFX-360, a clip of an anonymous user cycling through the game's multiplayer menus popped up on YouTube yesterday. It's since been removed but not before someone took notes.

Though there could of course be more in the finished game, 13 maps were sighted: Carbon, Coast, Dome, Exchange, Hardhat, Interchange, Lambeth, Meteora, Mogadishu, Paris, Plaza, Radar and Seatown.

Some matches will apparently support 32 players, up from 18 in Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2.

Finally, the as-yet unannounced Bomb Mode was also sighted in the 25 second clip, though it's unclear what exactly that entails.

Activision issued a standard "no comment on rumour and speculation" response. Maybe we'll find out more at the Call of Duty XP event taking place in Los Angeles later this week.

The Call of Duty XP event in Los Angeles gave attendees the first look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer details, as well as tournaments, real-life map recreations, and more. We were also treated to details of the upcoming limited Hardened Edition.

Here's what's inside:

Quote
-Modern Warfare 3 game with unique disc art
-1 year Call of Duty Elite Premium Membership, which includes all future Call of Duty MW3 downloadable content (including map packs)
-Special Founder status in Call of Duty Elite. Includes a special in-game emblem, playercard, weapon camo, clan XP boost, and more exclusive benefits
-Exclusive Special Ops Juggernaut Xbox Live avatar outfit
-Limited Edition, 100-page collectible field journal chronicling the entire saga with authentic military sketches, diagrams, and written entries
-All in a collectible steelbook case

The Hardened Edition will set you back $99.99. The Call of Duty Elite Premium membership is valued at $49.99/year alone, so it's up to the consumers to decide if the Hardened Edition with its one year of Elite included, Founder status benefits, avatar item, field journal, and steelbook case is worth it. Those holding their breath for a Prestige Edition like in previous Call of Duty titles may want to exhale, because no details were unveiled, leading us to believe that no such edition is in the works, and at this point, it looks like the Standard and Hardened Editions will be the only ones for MW3.

Speaking of Call of Duty Elite, Activision has taken to the XP event to detail everything you get in both the Free and Premium versions of Call of Duty Elite:

Call of Duty Elite (Free)
Quote
-Career Player Profile (Compare 1000's of stats, bests, trends from Black Ops, MW3, and future titles)
-Create-a-Class Online
-Public Groups and Private Clans
-HD Video Sharing
-Call of Duty Elite Apps (on your iPhone, iPad, Android, and Xbox 360)
-and much more

Call of Duty Elite (Premium)
Quote
-All the Free features
-Monthly DLC
-Daily Competition with Prizes
-Level Up Your Clan (earn in-game tags and emblems in tournaments and leagues. Earn Double XP and level up with operations and challenges)
-Pro Analysis & Strategy (expert analysis of weapons, maps, modes)
-Call of Duty Elite TV (exclusive episodic entertainment from top talent)
-and much more

Modern Warfare 3 campaign longer than MW2 - Sledgehammer

So it's probably 5 hours long as opposed to just 4!

Cod4 was a mark they will never reach again, it's unfortunate really competition is always good.

I just hope that these strike packages please Cod players, cuz it looks like another re-skin.

Don't get me wrong I've tried and tried to like COD but it's just getting more and more stale.

I really liked the SP in COD4.  I lost interest 1/2 through MW2.  I doubt I'll be picking up MW3 before it hits the bargain bins.

'There is no Modern Warfare 3 Prestige Edition' - IW
No super package to empty your bank account on this year, confirmed Robert Bowling

Infinity Ward man Robert Bowling has confirmed there will be no Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 3. Sorry, gamers with too much money.

You may have enjoyed the night vision goggles and the pretend bomb R/C car, but there won't be any ridiculous toys sold with this year's Call of Duty.

Speaking on Twitter, Bowling confirmed that the only special copy of the shooter releasing this year is the Hardened Edition, which will cost $99.99 and boasts a full year's subscription to the Call of Duty Elite service as its main perk.

How can you top night vision goggles and an R/C car, anyway? A Desert Eagle would have been nice, but not entirely legal.
