Gnomeo and Juliet, pretty good but avoid if you're not a fan of Elton John! 3 stars.

Monsters
4 Stars
Slow-paced, subtle, and surprisingly good low-budget sci-fi suspense. Made with a crew of only 5 people, and home-computer special effects, the movie has a great quality. The acting is decent, and the characters are oddly likeable. I almost gave it 3 stars, but it's definitely not mediocre enough to deserve 3 stars.

THOR
3 and a half stars.
Not bad. Started well and finished well, Just a little weak in the middle. Nice little nod to the Avengers in the movie.

X Men First Class 4 stars
Really good, not as good as x2 in my opinion but a worthy addition to the series with one excellent cameo complete with swearing also pretty violent although in a dark knight implied kinda way with Magneato ( Fassbender ) being the stand out for me even if his irish accent does slip in on occasion

Nice.
I've been hearing good things about First Class. I really thought it was going to be horrible, but now I've decided to go see it. Thanks, A-Ninja.

Green Lantern: Emerald Knights
4 Stars
The Green Lantern equivalent of Batman: Gotham Knight. It's a series of interconnected short stories that sort of layout the Green Lantern mythology for those that aren't familiar. Definitely great to watch before seeing the new Green Lantern movie. It is surpisingly violent, probably the most violent DC animation I've seen. I guess it's ok to show people be literally ripped apart, as long as their blood is purple, green, blue (... anything but red).
PS. For all of you geeks, Nathan Fillion is the voice of Hal Jordan. Enjoy.

X-Men: First Class
Not really first class but a solid three stars from me. Surprisingly some of the SFX were poor...

X-Men: First Class
3 Stars
Almost 4 stars, but was held back by some poor character/acting choices. Isolating First Class from the other X-Men films, the movie is very good in itself. It is surprisingly the most mature of the movies, which is ironic since it has the youngest cast. The story is coherent (which can't be said for X3). The action is pretty enjoyable, but not as good as X2. Magneto (actor and character) was probably the highlight for me.
The bad. The timeline makes no sense in the X-Men movie universe. Havok is Cyclops' YOUNGER brother. Why is he 16(?) years old in 1960? The same applies to the very quick cameo of Storm (if you saw it). I guess Halle Berry is 60+ years old the earlier X-Men movies?
The (horribly inaccurate) backstory with Mystique and Xavier was good, but makes no sense in relation to X-Men movies 1-3. I would excuse all of the above if they treated this movie was a standalone story, but they intentionally tied it to previous X-Men movies.
The movie would have been an easy 4 stars if the writers/producers put a little more thought into how the movies tied together. And, while January Jones is obviously an attractive blonde woman, that doesn't make her Emma Frost. White Queen was one of my biggest disappointments. Such a great character ruined by such a generic performance.

Black Death
4 Stars
I caught this on Netflix Instant. Much better than I would have expected. The acting is great. The characters are interesting. The story is familiar, but a few minor twists make it feel new enough to not bore you. If you like violent medieval action, and a gritty realistic take on magic/superstition, you'll like this.

Hall Pass
3 Stars
Not as good as previous Farrelly Brothers movies but still fun, Owen Wilson is on top form as always but it's Jason Sudeikis that steals the show.

Scream 4
1 and a half Stars.
Quite poor really. Was surprised at how little suspense was in the film considering Wes Craven directed it. The slasher genre would be my favourite type of horror movie but this tries to hard to be a parody of it's original which was of course a parody of the genre, But it forgets the first rule of any slasher movie....Suspense.
