The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man Tie-In Game Found Stuck to a Wall

Having recently shipped Spider-Man: Edge of Time, Activision and developer Beenox are working on the next Spider-Man title already, and predictably, it's a game that will tie-in with the 2012 movie reboot starring Andrew Garfield as Spidey/Peter Parker, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben and Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors AKA The Lizard.

The game's existence was verified via an Amazing Spider-Man poster spotted by IGN at the New York Comic-Con, sporting the Activision and Beenox logos, confirming that as you'd expect, a movie tie-in game is in development and on the cards. And if anyone knows Spidey games, it's Beenox, the studio behind Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time.

There's no release date on the poster, but one would assume that The Amazing Spider-Man the video game will be released to coincide with the movie, which releases in the multiplexes on July 4th, 2012. Here's the web-slinging poster:

Shattered Dimensions was a pretty solid game, but Edge of Time has been getting some stank reviews.

Beenox's future isn't looking too bright if their next game is a rushed movie tie-in.  Prove me wrong, Beenox.

The Amazing Spider-Man Spins its Web This June

With The Amazing Spider-Man movie swinging into cinemas this summer, it was obvious when the game was going to arrive too, but Activision has released a specific release date for the webslinger's latest movie tie-in foray, which in the past haven't turned out too badly on the whole. Well, Spider-Man 2 was a pretty fine game, anyway.

The Amazing Spider-Man will be launching on June 26th, ahead of the movie's debut in the multiplexes, with a menagerie of villains for Spidey to fight, including the big old grey horned one and human wrecking ball himself, the Rhino.

You can see Rhino in the new trailer and screenshots below, and expect more villain announcements in the run up to The Amazing Spider-Man's June 26th launch.

Stan Lee is a playable character in The Amazing Spider-Man
89-year-old comic book legend to swing through the streets

Comic book legend Stan Lee is a playable character in forthcoming movie tie-in The Amazing Spider-Man.

The 89-year-old Spider-Man creator confirmed the news himself during an interview with Addict of Fiction.

Precise details as to exactly how this will work are yet to be confirmed by publisher Activision or developer Beenox.

The game is due out on every platform under the sun from 29th June - one week before the movie of the same name swings into cinemas.

Look promising.

There is one simple concept that most superhero videogame developers overlook ... make the player feel like they are the superhero.

Spider-Man 2, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, and the Batman: Arkham series did it right.  Beenox was on the right track with Shattered Dimensions, but Edge of Time fell flat.  Let's hope the 3rd time's the charm.

True, for sure. Which is why I found it interesting that - with regards to Hulk: Ultimate Destruction - people didn't give Prototype more of a break. I'm guessing the character, Mercer, wasn't as likeable and that may have gone a long way in shaping the opinion on the game, but the free-roaming sky-scraper stomping was essentially the same as Hulk: UD (especially in the free-roaming portions), with a slightly more diverse element thrown in.

But I digress....I may have to give this a shot, I haven't played a Spidey game since Spider-Man 2 on the PS2.
