Arkham City's New Game Plus detailed

Unlike its predecessor, Batman: Arkham City features a New Game Plus mode, developer Rocksteady Studios has confirmed.

According to a post on the game's official forum, the mode will unlock when you finish the game on either the Normal or Hard setting.

You'll then be able to play through again with all your gadgets, XP and unlocked upgrades intact.

However, no counter icons will appear on enemies, tougher foes will be available from the start of the game, opposition will be configured differently and bosses will be harder to take down.

New Game Plus will be the same difficulty regardless of whether you finished the game on Normal or Hard.

Batman: Arkham City The Album revealed

Cool.  With the exception of "††† (Crosses)" and "Daughtry", all are artists frequently in my listening rotation.

GameStop listing outs Catwoman DLC episodes
“I don't know about you, Miss Kitty, but I feel so much yummier.”

In just a few short weeks we’ll all be gliding into the crime-ridden Arkham City as the Caped Crusader for one of the most anticipated games of the year. But what happens after we’ve done all there is to do in Arkham?

According to GameStop’s website, there’s more planned than we’ll be getting at launch. Buried in the bullets of the description for the Limited Edition game guide is a mention of downloadable content, promising some additional playtime spent as everyone’s favorite whip-carrying jewel thief, Catwoman. It’s not the DLC that’s surprising, but the wording: “Bonus Catwoman's Walkthrough: Get complete coverage of Catwoman's DLC content! All 4 episodes are revealed!”

Sure, it’s not the most official source of information, but we doubt the copywriters at GameStop are just making this stuff up. Plus, it’s too specific to be a wild guess. Not only does it mention DLC, but specifically four episodes worth, though we really don’t know exactly what they may entail. The obvious answer would be that they are going to come in the form of Challenge Rooms, as was the case with most of the DLC in Arkham Asylum, but those could hardly be considered “episodes.” If we were the type that looked too far into things (which we are), we’d say that this episodic content might be more story missions, fleshing out Catwoman’s side of things in the Arkham City story. That sure sounds more like an “episode” to us.

Still, maybe it really will just offer more Challenge Rooms. We’re really hoping that’s not all Rocksteady Studios has in store, because for as much fun as those score-driven Challenge Rooms were, we’d be much happier parting with our hard-earned money if it meant a continuation (or expansion) of the story. We’ve reached out to some of our friends at Warner Bros. for more information using our top-notch detective skills, and we’ll keep you posted if we hear anything interesting.

Batman: Arkham City review - 97% in GM, 'one of the greatest games ever'
Another incredible verdict for the Rocksteady sequel

The latest Batman: Arkham City review score to hit the net is from the issue 244 of Games Master and it's an absolute celebration of the Rocksteady sequel.

The mag's given Arkham City 97% but it's the words that really give an indication of just how special this game is.

Reviewer Rob Taylor urges readers to "revel in one of the greatest games ever conceived." He describes the combat as "near perfection" and "elevated to an entirely new level" while Arkham City as a location is "brooding and bloody massive.

Most excitingly though, the mag teases a "knockout ending" which of course (thankfully) is kept tightly under wraps.

Taylor concludes by proclaiming Batman: Arkham City to be, "brave, brutal, brilliant - the gold standard by which all future videogames should be judged."

Games Master isn't alone in its gushing though. The Batman: Arkham City review in German mag Play 3 ended with a score of 92 percent and praise calling the sequel "The best superhero game ever made."

Similarly OPM in Australia ended its Batman: Arkham City review with the full 10 and agreed with Games Master calling it "one of the best games ever made".

Batman: Arkham City review - 10/10 in Game Informer
"The best use of a license in the industry's history," says mag

The latest Batman: Arkham City review score is in and it's another massive victory for Warner and Rocksteady.

Game Informer gave Arkham City the full ten at the end of its review but, as with all the other Batman: Arkham City reviews to date, the real praise comes in the words.

The mag says that "Gotham City is lavishly detailed with dark hues and soaring architecture.

"Most of the central story missions take place indoors in environments that are just as striking. The museum is particularly impressive."

The review even goes as far to call Arkham City "the best use of a license in the industry's history."

Excitement levels must be at maximum for you lot right now, but are you worried that all this hype will lead to disappointment when it comes to playing Arkham City yourself?

Just ordered mine on Amazon.  Bonus $10 credit.   8)

I don't even remember the last time I bought a new game at GameStop.  Amazon's "credit" offers are always too good to pass up.  Which is a shame since I have well over $100 of in-store credit piled up at GameStop.

Those renders of Nightwing look like a gay anime character.
