Merrill, like Talia from Mass Effect 2, is the stereotypical shy nerdy girl. You can't introduce a character like that without it being like ringing a dinner bell for the entire lonely male nerd population, of which I am a long time member.

why cant there be a shy nerdy dude?
OFCOURSE NOT i have to freaking romance a abomination Q .Q;
whatever hes sexy when he rages..

He doesn't "rage", he whines. Ceaselessly. If this game has a Mass Effect 2 style "everybody keeps dying" ending, I am so putting his annoying ass on the chopping block.
OMGNU :<  hes just slightly angry
and half whines.
merrill is gnna be the 1st one to go... she cant ever stay alive in battle long enough...

I knew I was gonna try and get in Merrill's pants before I even saw her. I could tell from the first word she said, off-screen, that she was voiced by Eve Myles (Gwen from Torchwood), and this is probably the closest I'll ever come to doing her :D
Aside from that though she's got a naive charm and is quite funny.

The game on the whole is great, great enough that I finished it (all 32 hours of it) in less than two days. And now I'm  burnt out from gaming for a while.  The story was definitely not what I expected despite Biowares warnings, but was still great ... until the ending. It was a massive 'we're gonna be lazy and finish the game later, and also we're gonna charge you extra for it' DLC copout. Nothing is explained. It just ends, very abruptly.

And Anders is not whiny, he's a dark and necro tortured soul, he needs our love and compassion. And lust :D

I only have room for so much angst in my group, and Elf-Slave-Dude fills up the quota. Anders can go die. Every time he gives me lip I just remind him about Carver. You think that was an accident? That was no accident.

I'm hearing a lot of grumbling over how hard the rock monster boss is in the deep roads. Funny, that is the only boss so far that I don't have a complaint about being too hard (on hard difficulty). You beat it up until he does his ultra laser deathbeam of doom move, then drag the entire party behind a rock for cover for a minute until he is done, then rinse and repeat about 10 times.

Hah, that's a good point. I took Fenris with me most of the time aswell. I do like Anders though. He's Awakenings Alistair, he made that game a bit more enjoyable.

I don't see honestly how anyone would have trouble with the rock monsters. They go down so easily. The only fight I had trouble with was the dragon before you get to the rock monsters. I had to restart three times with that one. Even the last boss went down easier.

Yes to this. That dragon was a jerk. I only beat him because I got him stuck on the stairs.

Stairs have done more to help me on my quest to become the Champion of Kirkwall than any member of my merry fellowship. So far stairs have saved me from two dragons, two giant spiders, and a giant demon thing. Being a mage, I'm considering creating a new spell of ultimate power: Summon stairs. Ah, but the Templars would never allow such devastating potential to exist. Oh well.

Game Critics just smacked Dragon Age 2 with a 2.5/10 score.

I don't agree with that at all, but neither do I agree with The Escapist giving it 100% or PC Gamer calling it the "RPG of the decade". Having just finished the game literally ten minutes ago, I feel that DA2 is worse than DA:O. While that is super disappointing, it is still a solid game.

How odd, for me it is a hundred times better than the DA: O, purely because it looks a lot nicer and it's a lot more user friendly.  :)

Thank god for the new Tomb Raider, helped me de-stress after a tough week! More of the same please

It's also my favourite game of the year so far  ;D (Just as Mass Effect 2 was my favourite game of last year)

I feel that DA2 is worse than DA:O.

for me it is a hundred times better than the DA: O

BioWare found a formula in DA:O that was really satisfying to a niche audience, and moderately satisfying to the masses.

I'm guessing they were trying to balance the appeal-scale with DA2 (as they did with ME2) by removing/adding/mixing various elements in the game.  It didn't achieve what ME2 achieved, instead it just tipped the scale in the other direction.
