Placed down a pre-order for this today, nice steel case - just got to thinking, there most likely won't be many "Leaps of Faith" in this one, what with the lack of buildings and towers. Either way, that trailer looks sweet and the 4 player co-op could be interesting too

Actually, there might be a lot of leaps of faith. There are a lot of incredibly tall trees and tons of mountains and cliffs here in New England. Throw a pile of leaves at the bottom of a tree or cliff and voila! And we all know how plentiful the leaves are here...at least those of us with yards that need to get rid of them every autumn.   :o

Ha! My ignorance about the topography of New England is rooted in being a U.S. West Coast (Cal) kid...... btw...what the hell's an 'autumn'? ;)

Assassin's Creed III Special Edition Exclusive to GAME

Assassin's Creed III is set to get a Special Edition in the UK that'll be available exclusively at GAME. As you'd expect, the Special Edition comes with additional DLC, including an extra single-player mission and an extra in-game weapon to unlock.

The single-player mission is called 'A Dangerous Secret' and sees Connor fighting against a "secret that could jeopardise the funding of the revolution." Upon completing the mission, you'll unlock the exclusive weapon, Connor's classic Flintlock Musket.

Assassin's Creed III will be launching on October 30th, 2012 with the GAME exclusive Special Edition available to pre-order now at no additional cost.

If I'm remembering right, "towns/cities" feature less in this than previous games, with the wilderness a big thing; I saw a trailer earlier that sees him diving through a window, running through a building and out the other side. That's something I've been dying to see for Assassins Creed. A proper seamless inside/outside experience is brilliant.

Still haven't finished the last one in the series, might not even bother at this rate, but this has renewed some faith in the franchise - adding something a little different.

Well it's set over a 30 year period so given the time period the cities will be smaller/lower scale wise. I'm expecting Philly in there and a lot of New England snow. I didn't play Brotherhood/Revelations, I'm only really interested in the main series itself. This looks excellent though. Shortbow ftw, welcome back AC.

Naval warfare in the caribbean, snow, short bow, tomahawk, desmond (they did say he was a huge part of AC3), tree climbing, bayonetes, click it I'm in. First game of E3 to win me over. Xcom was the second, it's funny because on the gamespot chatlog for their show stream so many people said how sh*t it looks, they obviously never played the previous Xcoms! Next up C&C generals 2 on frostbite, c'mon sell it me, bring back the rts which for me has been a long dead genre, god I must be getting old if my tastes are changing!!!

Not trying to derail the topic (since all signs point to it being a bag of ass kickery), but AC III needs to incorporate some of this:

Part of me really wants a "modern day" AC - but I think if they made it 100% modern day, it'd kill the feel of the game. Hopefully we'll get to do something a little more interesting with Desmond, missions and the like rather than just the odd snippets from the prior games.

And cut out that weird first person sh*t from the last one. Blech.

lol very apt :)

I'd agree with that Backup, having it set in the modern day would blow the whole thing and there are too many games in the modern day/near future. The town environs and the trees and wilderness remind of RDR and that's no bad thing. I just hope they don't do an ACII and pull a chapter out and have it as dlc!
