EA will drop Tiger Woods
« on: December 15, 2009, 01:08:04 PM »
Could the next EA golf game revert back to it's original PGA Tour Golf roots?

EA will drop Tiger Woods, says Forbes
"Forget about any golfers picking up the sponsorship slack."

A Forbes national editor has said that EA will drop Tiger Woods from its PGA series and struggle to replace him.

With the current Tiger Woods scandal seeing him taking indefinite leave from golf, that leaves EA with the awkward position of deciding what to do with its Tiger Woods PGA Tour series.

While EA has declared it would stand by Woods, Michael K. Ozanian of Forbes thinks otherwise.

Sponsors like Gillette and Electronic Arts are going to drop Tiger Woods regardless of what they are saying now," says Michael K. Ozanian. "Forget about any golfers picking up the sponsorship slack. According to E Poll Market Research, aside from Tiger, they generate no buzz with consumers."

What will EA do? We'll just have to wait and see. If Woods' indefinite leave overlaps with a new PGA Tour game, then EA is going to have a tough decision to deal with.

The irony of the matter, I know 2 men much older than I am that actually bought the latest Tiger Woods 2010 for Xbox 360 BECAUSE of the current media scandal.

The guys haven't played a videogame in over a decade.  NEW CUSTOMERS!

Thanks, Tiger Woods.  Now take a hike.

Maybe they could have regional games with regional sponsored golfers.

Padraig Harrington for the UK
Phil Mickelson for USA
and YE Yang for the Asian version.

Just call it PGA Tour (no numbers, as it's a complete rebrand) and have the person on the front with a little signature underneath them. All three of them would cost half of what Tiger wood.

i just dont see it happening. the only reason this is a big deal is because he wont get in front of a camera. once he stands up and owns it, the story will die down and he'll be fine.

I dont know what the problem is. He had a few dirty days and all of a sudden everyone is ashamed. Mike Tyson bit someones ear of and still appears in films Kobe Bryant got let of with r*pe (thats a private joke by the way)
Tiger Woods is still a great sportsman. I feel sorry for him as this is his PRIVATE life.
Can't wait for Shenmue 3

I agree & thats pretty much what John Daly said the other day & he's been through his fair share of scandals so he'd know.

True but it's extremely popular & Tiger is the most famous sportsman on the planet, only Beckham and maybe Usain Bolt comes close.

I feel bad for celeb's that get hit by the media hammer, though they are inspirational to our youth so in a way they should step down from the lime light etc.  But on the opposite argument I myself produce hardcore music and us artists get media slaps for doing things wrong too! Hope they dont find my porn collection one day!  jk! :P

Tiger seems like a good guy too cause he stated hes dropping from golf to sort his life out.. which is very commendable. End of the day when I think of Tiger Woods I think of a exemplary golfer!  Nothing more :)

Honour, Respect, Loyalty.
