Nah, the N64 version is far superior and made by Rare, this is not.

Goldeneye's Return to Wii Confirmed

Nintendo just confirmed the return of the beloved first-person shooter Goldeneye. The title will be a Wii exclusive. Daniel Craig will star as James Bond and the game will feature eight classic bond characters. It releases this holiday.

This is definitely not "GoldenEye".  It looks like a good game, but it's definitely not "GoldenEye".  They could have called it anything else, they just wanted to cash in on the name "GoldenEye".

... "GoldenEye".   ;)

GoldenEye: Activision explains Wii exclusivity
Why they decided to go Nintendo

Activision has defended its decision to bring its GoldenEye remake to Wii, following comments from Michael Pachter that the Bond game should have been released on Xbox 360.

As the Wedbush Morgan analyst told us last week, "most of the original audience is pretty hardcore, and I think a Rare game on the 360 would have a better chance." He added: "a Wii exclusive is odd."

However, Activision senior producer Brian Pass has hit back, saying "It's a great opportunity. This game was originally on the N64, so there's the nostalgia factor for people that are Nintendo fans. So we wanted to partner with Nintendo for this.

"The opportunity on the Nintendo Wii platform is huge," he said. "There's roughly 12 million Wiis in North America. But it's not really a console that a lot of shooter fans are playing on. So we wanted to offer them their own first-person shooter, that's unique and exclusive to that console."

Yet he didn't seem completely convinced by his own argument, asking, "Why are people not playing shooters on the Wii? I don't know.

"Maybe it's because people don't like using the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck. They don't like using the pointing device. Now they've got the Classic Pro Controller. This is dual analogue stick. It's got the exact same layout you find on PS3 or 360."

Loads of GoldenEye Wii Information

Are you excited for the new GoldenEye remake for the Wii? Well, you should be, even if it's just for the fact that you can play the amazing multiplayer modes online. If not, perhaps the HUGE list below can convince you otherwise.

- Judi Dench will be appearing as M
- Tanner from more recent Bond movies will also appear
- More fleshed-out mission briefings
- Bond now has regenerative health
- Approach situations with guns blazing, or try stealth
- New cinematic moments (helicopter sent in while you're at the damn)
- Longer, more involved missions
- Dam mission sees 006 at your side for a large portion
- All classic multiplayer modes returning
- unreachable island from the dam level returns
- Complex is not returning, as it's not part of the film
- Statue Park is a level in multiplayer
- no Bond death music in split-screen, due to it getting annoying
- Bond death music remains for single player and onlline multiplayer
- improved character animations
- Daniel Craig's stunt-double from the films, Ben Cooke, was used for motion capture
- David Arnold handling composing duties
- costume designer Lindsay Pugh and concept artist Robert Cowper are involved with art direction
- stealth allows for context-sensitive neck snaps
- guards ramble through inane chatter
- different routes open up through stealth play
- "Because this is Daniel Craig's Bond. We have what Daniel Craig's Bond means within the gameplay. That's all the agility: he can roll over, jump down from heights, all of that strength. We've also got his physicality, which we're using the Wii motion control for. You can punch through glass, you can fall through glass, you interact with objects with a melee gesture." - Activision producer Dawn Pinkney
- improved enemy AI
- deactivate alarms through your PDA
- "Like the one at the edge of this tunnel, we've got a main door. You go through the main door, you will likely take on a firefight on the other side because you've alerted on AI. Whereas, there's a more covert route around through a manhole tunnel and that allows you to enter the next area covertly. Adding that replay ability to the game and just providing lots of choice, you can go back and try different things." - Activision producer Dawn Pinkney
- online has XP, perks and an unlocks system
- nine different modes for online
- menu has quick options for "inversion" and "skin."
- 'skin' refers to the character you're playing as
- cannot pick two of the same character

Glad I don't own a Wii, this sounds bloody awful, no Complex, no Pierce (far better Bond than Daniel Craig), Regenerative Health is a big no no, glad i've still got the original and obviously a million times better N64 version.   :)

Why did they do this? I think they took the meaning of 'remake' a bit too literally.
I would have been glad of just a slight update in graphics and had it on XBLA like Perfect Dark. It would have made so much more sense than to change all the story elements and have only the design of some levels in common with the original. No doubt I'll end up playing it eventually anyway.

Wii GoldenEye 007 to blow up campers

Wii shooter GoldenEye 007 will tackle pesky campers with a clever new mode that blows up players who stand still for too long.

The game includes an anti-camping modifier called Move Your Feet, according to Bitmob.

With Move Your Feet enabled, players who stand still for three seconds will automatically explode.

"It worked beautifully in practice, morphing the map into a hectic affair that zeroed out any chance of a foe settling in to camp," reports the site.

GoldenEye 007, created by UK studio Eurocom and published by Activision Blizzard, is a re-imagining of the classic N64 shooter.

Earlier this month Martin Hollis, he who made the original, said he'd be surprised if anyone at the publisher was bothered about doing the original game "justice" (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-09-03-wii-goldeneye-motivated-by-money-hollis).

GoldenEye 007 will be released on Wii this November.

i try not to stay still when sniping anyway, good way of losing your brain out the back of your head. I try and strafe a little to make it harder to hit, but your easier to spot. tough trade off sometimes.

GoldenEye is proof of Wii "core" market

Activision's GoldenEye 007 revamp is doing great business on Wii, Nintendo has claimed, proof that there is a healthy market for core games on the system.

Nintendo's UK communications chief Rob Saunders told MCV, "The sales of GoldenEye show that these titles can and do perform well on Wii.

"The idea that Wii owners are only after smaller mini-game compilations or first-party titles isn't true. A good quality title, supported well by both publisher and retail, has just as much chance of performing well as any Nintendo title."

The Eurocom-developed Bond shooter scored a solid 7/10 (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-11-04-goldeneye-007-review) from Eurogamer's Simon Parkin last month and entered the UK charts at number 13, five places above its HD counterpart, Blood Stone.

We're not sure that quite qualifies as a smash hit but Saunders is right - it has performed better than most recent high profile third party core games.

Ubisoft's Red Steel 2 limped into the UK charts at 34 earlier this year, Rising Star's No More Heroes 2 couldn't even manage the top 40 and EA's on-rails shooter Dead Space: Extraction sold dismally.

The next third party to try its hand at a beefier Wii experience is Disney Interactive with Warren Spector's Epic Mickey, out on 25th November.

Man I used to love the hell out of this game back in the day.

My favorite thing was shooting dudes in the groin and watching their agonizing 10 minute death animation.
