Title: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Post by: GamerMan316 on April 23, 2010, 06:05:15 AM
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood outed
Ubisoft also registers web domain for Driver: San Francisco

Ubisoft has registered website domains for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Driver: San Francisco.

It seems likely that Brotherhood will be the title of the new adventure due for release this year - which will once again star Ezio (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=231616).

Meanwhile, Driver: San Francisco is obviously the firm's new driver game - which was first outed in an earnings call in January (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=231530).

The domains registered were, tellingly, AssassinsCreedBrotherhood.com (http://whois.domaintools.com/assassinscreedbrotherhood.com) and DriverSanFrancisco.com (http://whois.domaintools.com/driversanfranciscogame.com).

In addition, Ubisoft also applied for LaserHomeBattle.com, but your guess is as good as ours on that one.

If we had a house, we'd bank it on these being revealed at E3.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Confirmed

Do you remember January? Do you remember reading about Ubisoft's plans for 2010, as reported in the Ubisoft's Plans for 2010-11 news post? What do you mean no? What are you, colourblind?! Pay more attention, dammit!

I'll recap for you: in amongst Ubisoft's fiscal report and announced plans for the coming year was a mysterious Assassin's Creed "episode," independent of Assassin's Creed II, but continuing Ezio's story, and including online multiplayer.

Today - thanks in no small part to a box art leak from GameStop - Ubisoft have confirmed that that game is indeed in the works, entitled Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

The title of the game has been rumoured for a while, solidified by Ubisoft's purchase of the assassinscreedbrotherhood.com domain name a few weeks ago. Until today though, no details had existed about the game. Well, thanks to the leaked photo of the placeholder box art (you know the drill, external link below), we know at least a little bit to whet your appetite. The blurb on the box art reads:

Live and breathe as Ezio, now a legendary master assassin, in his struggle against the Templar order. Lead your own brotherhood of Assassins and strike at the heart of the enemy: Rome. And for the first time, take part in an innovative multiplayer layer allowing you to embody an assassin of your choosing and define their killing style.
Not a whole lot of information sure, so maybe quench that appetite a bit more with some mango or falafel for now. But, Ubisoft have confirmed that the box art is authentic, and "will provide more information next week."

The box art states that Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is scheduled to release this Fall/Autumn.

Assassins Creed multiplayer doesn't make sense. In single player the enemy AI allows you to sneak up and stealth kill them, how do you do that with another human player?

Ubi teases new Assassin's Creed

Ubisoft has popped up a teaser website for its next Assassin's Creed title featuring Dr Warren Vidic banging on about the Templars.

The new game, pretty much confirmed as Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, is apparently due out this autumn.

"The destiny of man rests in our grasps. We will lead their hearts and minds to absolute peace," Vidic dramatically intones on the teaser site (http://assassinscreed.us.ubi.com/abstergoindustries/#/weapons).

"Those who deny us fight for the wrong side of history and will not survive. Behold now the promise of victory in the visions of the Animus. Join us! The future awaits! The Templars await!"

Once Vidic's finished you can spin through a selection of weapons - an axe, fan, syringe, dagger and claw - and then if you click some symbols in a particular order you can unlock a sixth and a downloadable Abstergo wallpaper.

"You're a quick thinker! You'll be handy with this weapon," Vidic says in response to your display of wits. "Now commit as a Templar and end this war once and for all."

GameStop pre-orders of AC: Brotherhood include Harlequin bonus character

The description of the "GameStop exclusive" Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood pre-order bonus seems apt for the terrifying Harlequin character: "Behind the gaudy costume and twisted smile lies the soul of a merciless assassin. You call yourself the Harlequin. Your victims will call you a walking nightmare." Presumably the whole "walking nightmare" thing is because you're a "merciless assassin," but for us, the clown makeup is sufficiently horrifying in its own way.

No details have been provided on what other retailers might give to pre-order customers, but if past Assassin's Creed "retailer exclusive" bonuses are any indication, the Harlequin will be available for all to play eventually (presumably for a few virtual bucks). We've dropped an additional image of the terrifying multiplayer character in our gallery below, should you be so inclined.

E3 2010: Brotherhood is Assassin's Creed 3 'in scope'
But numbered sequels need new setting and era, says designer

Brotherhood is Assassin's Creed 3 "in scope", Ubisoft Montreal designer Patrick Plourde has said.

Speaking to CVG in a just-published Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood interview (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=251113), the designer said numbered Assassin's sequels require a new setting and era.

He said: "In terms of scope, yes it is Assassin's Creed 3, in terms of a brand we want to keep the numbers for when there is a new protagonist and a new era. It's more consistent.

"So you have Assassin's Creed in the crusades, Assassin's Creed 2 which is in the renaissance... let's say that we go onto the moon for Assassin's Creed Astronaut; that is going to be Assassin's Creed 3 - I don't want to spoil anything."

He added: "The historical setting is so important in the franchise."

E3 2010: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood gameplay videos
Impressive E3 movies of Ezio's next adventure

It may be more Assassin's Creed 2.5 rather than the full blown sequel, but we're still salivating at the prospect of Ezio's second major outing arriving before the end of this year.

One of the big attractions of course is a whole new bunch of multiplayer modes which will come with the game, but even hardcore Assassin's Creed fans (like ourselves) have been pondering how will they work actually work in practice?

Well, wonder no more, as we've secured two fine new movies, the first of which shows exactly how 'Wanted' assassination missions play out in the new game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQiJ_e0y7gU

In it, you'll discover the saucy looking courtesan skin, how to track down and execute your AI victim and then how to evade fellow assassins for a maximum points score. Looks very intriguing indeed.

The second movie is drawn from the single-player version of Brotherhood and sees the villa Auditore under heavy siege from the Borgia forces.

An excellent opportunity to showcase some of the new gameplay variety in Brotherhood like using cannons against enemy siege towers and how joyriding your horse through cities and towns is well, sheer joy.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood pre-orders beating ACII's
Title will "reaffirm" Ubisoft's online dominance, says Guillemot

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has revealed that pre-orders for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood are 20 per cent ahead of those enjoyed by Assassin's Creed II a year ago.

The news bodes well for the game: ACII went on to storm the UK charts and become one of 2010's most celebrated releases.

Speaking in a conference call last night following the announcement of the firm's fiscal Q1 results, Guillemot said that Brotherhood would see Ubi "reaffirm" its position as the No.1 multiplayer video games developer.

"Pre-orders are currently higher than last year, and according to EDAR-IMG metrics coming out of E3, Assassin's Creed ranked number one in terms of purchase intent," he said.

He added: "Assassin's Creed Brotherhood should allow us to reaffirm our position as one of the industry's best multiplayer developers.

"The pre-orders are the strongest ever seen, already 20 per cent above those from the same period last year, even before the awards announced following E3."

In the same call, Guillemot claimed that Ubi was confident that Brotherhood had no direct competition in the Christmas market.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will be released in November on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Well if your definition of being "number 1" is having some games in the catalog that just happen to feature multiplayer, then Ubi is super dominant indeed (along with 99% of all the other publishers out there at this point). But if your definition has more to do with having a multiplayer component that people actually play/care about, then Ubi loses before it even starts.

I'd say that a better measure of being number 1 is having the most active players. If that is the standard, I'd say Valve has probably had the crown since Counter-Strike was first released. Or maybe Blizzard, if you count MMOs as games ( ;) )

I'd rank the Rainbow Six franchise among the top 10 multiplayer games on Xbox Live.  I have a few people on my FL that still play Vegas 1.

Ubisoft is no Valve, and will never be.  But considering the average lifespan of Xbox Live multiplayer games, you have to give credit to a game still active after ~4 years.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood producer envisions more multiplayer for franchise

While some still lament  the addition of multiplayer to the Assassin's Creed franchise, it seems likely that the online features of Brotherhood  will be revisited in future iterations of the series. Speaking to Videogamer, associate producer Jean-Francois Boivin addressed why fans are so opinionated on the subject. "I think there's this dichotomy in the gaming world, that ... people who are sold to single-player don't necessarily care about multiplayer," he explained. "The wink we give to that in our universe is that the single-player [game] is Assassins, and the multiplayer is The Templars. I think in the end we're giving a lot to the single-player, because we're giving a full single-player campaign - so they won't feel cheated with Brotherhood."

Boivin hopes that the addition of a competitive angle to the Assassin's Creed universe will open up the series to a new audience, beyond fans of the single player experience. "Hardcore multiplayers might say 'I'm going to try this multiplayer. Hey, this universe is kind of cool! I might look into the single-player,'" he mused.

But will we see multiplayer in Assassin's Creed 3 (or whatever the next title might be)? While not a confirmation, Boivin admitted that "there's a lot of room for expansion in that universe," and envisions "a multiplayer component being there for a long time." Presumably, that would mean about two years from now.

CVG has revealed that Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is three times bigger than Florence from Assassin's 2.
Ubisoft Montreal's Mission Designer Gaelec Simard was the man talking to CVG, as he revealed that the Rome of Brotherhood is 'the biggest city yet' and is at least 'three times as large as the city of Florence' from Assassin's Creed 2.

CVG also says that Rome takes in famous landmarks like the Coliseum and the Vatican. Sounds good!

Unlock Raiden in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Metal Gear man brings the stealth to Rome

Metal Gear Solid's Raiden will appear as a playable skin in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

Joystiq sources say the Raiden "outfit" is unlocked by completing all tasks in the Animus' new "virtual training" mode.

You might remember being able to unlock Altair's robes (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=192304) from Assassin's Creed in Metal Gear Solid 4. You had to complete the game with 50+ knife kills, 50+ CQC grabs and trip less than 25 alerts.

Ubisoft announced free PS3-exclusive DLC (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=273350) for AC: Brotherhood yesterday.

The game's out on November 19 in the UK.

I saw this offer in Decembers Empire.

I'd been waiting for ages for a decent offer to appear in order to subscribe to the magazine.  Subscribe for 12 months and will get a free copy of AC:Brotherhood thrown in.

I saw this on hotukdeals but the deal was expired so I didn't read it further (it may have been for 6 months instead of 12 though), I used to subscribe to Empire, now might be a good time to subscrube again!

Reading the thread about it on hotukdeals, it seems it takes about a month to get the game & sometimes you don't get it all, I think that's why they expired the deal, still worth a shot though.   :)

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood review - 5/5 in T3
"The best Creed yet," says tech mag

The first Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood review has arrived - with top marks being given out in the latest issue of tech mag, T3.

The mag boldly calls the game "the best Creed yet", praising its "epic, surprising" gameplay and "really well executed" Brotherhood feature, which has you building an Assassin army and dispatching them across Europe.

According to T3, the series' new multiplayer mode seems "unique and promising" in its pre-release state.Good stuff.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is out on Xbox 360 and PS3 next week, on Friday November 19.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood gets 9.25/10 review from Game Informer
The top notch scores just keep coming in

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has just revealed that Assassin's Creed Brotherhood has been granted an exceptional review score by respected US mag Game Informer.

Speaking to investors following the announcement of the publisher's half-year fiscal results today, Guillemot revealed that GI had awarded the game a "92.5 per cent" review - equating to 9.25/10 on the mag's scoring scale.

Guillemot also said that pre-orders for the game represented a "record high" for Ubisoft. Brotherhood has seen 25 per cent more pre-orders than those drawn by Assassin's Creed 2.

The score chimes with similar praise from outlets such as PSM3, The Guardian and Italian mag Play Generation.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is due for release tomorrow in the US and on Friday (November 19) in the UK.

gonna pick this up in the new year, only 20 more feathers to find on assassins creed 2, then i have to wear the cape that's a reward in ever location in the game and i will have the full 1000. Getting the full amount on brotherhood may be a lot harder though, what with it having multiplayer and all.

Free Assassin's Creed DLC before Xmas

Ubisoft must be feeling festive, because on 14th December it will release a free lump of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood DLC on both PS3 and Xbox 360.

Dubbed the Animus Project 1.0, the add-on twists the existing Alliance multiplayer mode into Advanced Alliance. This is in addition to the original mode.

Advanced Alliance will be more challenging - something to do with target identification and engagement - and be playable by three teams of two players each.

This mode's new map, Mont Saint Michel - narrow streets, bell tower, rocky island - makes for the perfect killing playground.

More free AC: Brotherhood DLC coming

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is to get a second batch of DLC in January, publisher Ubisoft has confirmed.

The Animus Project 2.0 update will add Chest Capture Multiplayer Mode, which pretty much does what it says on the tin. You'll be running around trying to either steal or protect boxes of loot from various other greedy assassin types.

There'll be a new multiplayer map added too, set in the Italian hill-top town of Pienza.

Like the Animus Project 1.0 pack, which is out today, it won't cost you a dime.

Just to jog your memory, the Animus Project 1.0 pack adds a new game mode, Advanced Alliance, as well as an additional multiplayer map.

The new mode is essentially a tougher version of the the game's Alliance Mode, tweaking target identification and engagement to put more emphasis on stealth tactics.

The new map, on the other hand, sees you stalking the streets of Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy. Ubisoft insists that, "Its particular topography of narrow streets, high-perched bell-tower and multi-leveled architecture is perfect for hunters and predators alike to surge from out of nowhere to execute their prey."

Take a look at the screens below for more.

The rather fabulous Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood crept out of the shadows and pilfered a perfect 10/10 from Eurogamer's Tom Bramwell back in November.

What's the MP like Lukehi, I would definitely get Brotherhood, But it would be more for the single player, So I'm in no rush to get. Unless the MP is good enough to warrant a buy soon.

You may remember a few weeks ago that Ubisoft laid out a challenge for the Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood community. The challenge was to amass 25 million total kills.

Well all your hard work seems to have paid off, as on Gabriel Graziani's twitter this morning he announced that the community challenge had been completed! The new map is entitled Rome at Dusk, a variant of the Rome map that came with the game. Note that you do not need to download anything, as the map shows up on the map selection screen and is part of the rotation on multiplayer.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood DLC is free, out now
Animus Project Update 2.0 hits Xbox Live and PSN

Ubisoft has launched a new free DLC offering for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

The previously announced content, dubbed Animus Project Update 2., includes a fresh multiplayer game mode and new map.

The 'Chest Capture' multiplayer mode sees two teams, comprised of three players each, partner with fellow Templars to either defend or capture chests.

Meanwhile, the 'Pienza' map "provides the perfect free-running playground where predators and targets can blend and disappear".

Also included in Animus Project Update 2.0 is the new 'Templar Score' feature.

"To achieve order and maintain competition, Abstergo created the Templar Grade," Ubisoft says. "Updated weekly and based on the users scores of the previous four weeks, the Templar Grade splits recruits in 10 specific slices - each representing part of the hierarchy of the community. The goal is to reward diligent work by Abstergo recruits."

Animus Project Update 2.0 is out now on Xbox Live and PSN.

Ubisoft announces new DLC for AC: Brotherhood.

Looks like this is gonna be a heavy packed item as it includes a single player component in which Ezio must rescue a kidnapped Leonardo DaVinci - also included are four new characters for the MP (The Dama Rossa, the Knight, the Marquis and the Pariah). A map will be added, entitled "Alhambra" - as well as other game modes, including Escort, where two teams of four players are tasked with assassinating the opposing team's VIP while protecting their own and a mode called Assassinate, a ten minute round of Deathmatch.

The pack's set for release early March 2011 and will run ya 800msp / $9.99 on PSN.
