NBA Live 13

NBA Live 13 Returns to the Hardwood This Fall

Having taken a long hiatus following the cancellation of EA Sports' NBA reboot, NBA Elite 11, EA's sports range will be seeing the return of basketball later this year, as NBA Live 13 is coming back this autumn with a new studio and dev team working on the title.

"We have a new studio and a new development team, and this fall we’ll launch an all-new experience that captures the future of basketball with NBA Live 13," reads the announcement on EA.com. "We’re looking forward to players giving us their feedback on the game, and next month we’ll welcome in fans from around the country to join in on the process of creating NBA Live 13 as well – more on that on Monday..."

NBA 2K will no longer be the only game in town then where virtual basketball is concerned, leaving us waiting with bated breat to see what EA Sports can bring to the table with NBA Live 13 come the autumn months. We'll soon see whether it's a slam dunk or a slip on a wet patch in the paint and a broken leg.

That's a shame really. A few more revisions might do it good. It's got somewhat of a clunky look to it, but that's just from footage seen so far.

Here's their latest trailer:

Beta Gameplay leaked a few weeks ago:

NBA Live 13 Cancelled

Following the game's recent indefinite delay, EA Sports has cancelled NBA Live 13.

The game had been due to hit next month but EA’s "commitment to deliver a high quality experience" has led the publisher to hold the game back. It’s the second NBA title on the bounce to be cancelled.

"After a lot of consideration, we have made the decision to not launch NBA LIVE 13," said EA Sports executive vice president Andrew Wilson.

"When we started the process of bringing back NBA LIVE, we knew it was going to be a long journey. We started by moving the game to a new studio. We brought in some of the best new technology that has helped fuel innovation in our other games. We launched an even deeper level of engagement with our community to gather more feedback directly from fans. And we built a whole new development team to bring it all to life. We felt like we were on the right path.

"We also made a commitment to deliver a high quality experience — this is what our fans expect and what we demand of ourselves at EA SPORTS. But making great games is not easy, and we're just not there yet on NBA LIVE 13. Having continued to look at the game over the past few days, it's clear that we won't be ready in October.

"And rather than launch midway through the season, we're going to sit out the full year and stay focused on making next year's game great. This decision puts us on the right track for success well into the future in a rapidly changing industry."

"This wasn't an easy decision," continued Wilson, "but it's the right one for our fans. I hope you'll agree when you're able to play the game next year."

The last NBA Live title, a rebrand called NBA Elite, was canned in 2010 just weeks before release.

I can respect that.  Better to not release a product than release a crap product.

If they ever pick this up again, I'm guessing it would be safe to guess it's going to find its home on the next generation of consoles. ???
