Post by: GamerMan316 on May 07, 2010, 07:03:04 AM
Takeuchi not keen to work on RE6

Capcom's Jun Takeuchi, who served as producer on Resident Evil 5, he says he isn't interested in working on the next game in the series.

"Personally, I don't think I'm gonna deal with Resident Evil 6 at all," Takeuchi said in an interview with Xbox 360 World (thanks, CVG). "As far as the series is concerned I'm not planning to return until at least two more Olympics have passed!"

Elsewhere in the interview, Takeuchi said his team felt "extreme pressure" and the effects of "[Resident Evil 4 Director Shinji] Mikami-san's shadow" while they were working on the RE5. "However, because we were creating the sequel to this huge franchise we wanted to make our fresh direction clear," he said.

Takeuchi has previously said that the next Resident Evil game will "reboot the series", though apparently he would prefer it do that without him on board.

No more of these please

And plenty more of these, not too much to ask for is it?  :)

They didn't change much from Resi 4 though to be fair, which is still a far superior game, I don't mind the gameplay it's just one thing that needs to be changed and you all know what that is.  ;D

The games industry has had a rough year, and few publishers would know that better than Capcom. To help combat this, the company hopes to increase the output of titles in popular franchises, such as Resident Evil.

According to a report from Nikkei, Capcom is aiming to achieve a release rate of three to four titles yearly in its biggest IPs. This would be an increase of 30% over their current model. In order to reduce the development time on titles to achieve this goal, the Japanese publisher will continue its practice of outsourcing development to European and North American firms.

More games can be a good thing, but isn't that part of the problem we already have? Gamers have a lot of choice, far more than they ever have before, but the iterative nature of exploiting high-profile franchises has the effect of making product seem homogenized. I'm not sure if the solution should be foisting more product on wallets that are already feeling the pinch of a tough economy and already have games releasing at a rate faster than they can buy them.

Capcom probably had the biggest presence of any videogame company at Comic-Con this year.  They're really pushing to expand their franchises.  Now I know why.

I love Capcom.  I hope it pays off for them.

The Res 5 boss fights were lame-o, and really kept me from enjoying the game more. I'm with Gamerman in that I'd like to see a return to REAL zombies.

But then I also wouldn't mind if the whole franchise either rebooted or just went away.

More About Resident Evil 6 "Soon"

Capcom, the studio behind Resident Evil, loves sequels. That's fine, people love Capcom sequels. How does another Resident Evil game sound?

While in Spain, Capcom's Keiji Inafune apparently said Capcom wants Resident Evil 6 on the market as soon as possible and that there would be news about Resident Evil 6 "shortly".

This isn't the first time that Resident Evil 6 has been mentioned. The game is a complete reboot. Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi will not be returning for the sixth entry in the series.

Voice actor wants Resident Evil 6 work
Albert Wesker wants in on Resi 6

Voice actor DC Douglas, who fans of Capcom's survival-horror series Resident Evil will know as the voice of long-time bad guy Albert Wesker, has requested Capcom to allow him to audition for Resident Evil 6.

Although Capcom has not even officially announced Resident Evil 6, a new Resi title is pretty much a sure thing.

Speaking to Hellsdescent, Douglas said rumblings on the internet have spurred him into asking Capcom to let him reprise his role as Albert Wesker.

"Hell yeah! I know RE6 is in the works, so hopefully I'll get a chance to audition for it... Or you guys could bug Capcom into casting me in it! ;-) I'm workin' it, baby!" he said.

Before his departure Capcom exec and Mega Man designer Keiji Inafune teased the announcement of the sixth game, saying the success of Resident Evil 5 meant that Capcom is keen on getting a new title in the acclaimed horror franchise out soon.

Marvel Vs Capcom 3 producer Ryota Niitsuma has said the company is "a lot closer" as a company since former global head of production Keiji Inafune left the Japanese firm.

RUMOUR: RESIDENT EVIL 6 TO BE “BRUTALLY SCARY”

THE BUZZ: EGM spoke with a reliable insider with knowledge of Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 6 – rumoured to be unveiled in more detail at TGS in the days ahead – who reveals it will “go back to its roots” by revamping the game with an emphasis on what made Resident Evil so great to begin with.

“This will be, by far, the most gruesome Resident Evil game to date,” according to our source, who commented on the condition of anonymity.  “A real emphasis is being placed on making the game brutally scary.”

EGM’s TAKE: Capcom PR, en route to Tokyo Game Show, has not surprisingly issued a standard “Capcom has not made any announcements [about Resident Evil 6] and does not comment on rumours,” statement in response to EGM’s request for confirmation. But how awesome would it be to see the horror quotient, which most agree was lacking in part five, amped up for the next installment?

More info

Capcom announces Resident Evil 6
Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy star

Resident Evil 6 launches on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 20th November 2012, with a PC version to follow later, publisher Capcom has announced.

Set 10 years after the initial Raccoon City outbreak, the game sees series regulars Leon S Kennedy and Chris Redfield dealing with zombie outbreaks across the globe.

As seen in the reveal trailer, Kennedy is fighting off the undead in a small town in the US after the president gets infected, while Redfield is in an unnamed Chinese metropolis dealing with a bioterrorist threat there.

We reckon we spotted Resident Evil 4 damsel in distress Ashley in there somewhere too.

"From the outset the team's intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror. We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers," commented executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi

"Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series," added Capcom R&D boss Katsuhiko Ichii.

"The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world."

That's all the information Capcom has released for now, but promises news on "new characters and co-op details" soon.

The last numbered entry in Capcom's long-running survival horror series came out back in 2009, picking up a 7/10 from Eurogamer.

Exec Producer Lifts Lid on More Resident Evil 6 Details

Following the announcement of Resident Evil 6 at the Resident Evil anniversary party, executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayasi took the stage to share some additional details on the game.

As reported by Andriasang, Kobayashi said that Capcom are aiming to make the game the "ultimate horror entertainment." To achieve this, the team have been working with two main goals; to maintain the level of fear throughout and to overwhelming the player with the scale of the game, its story and the feeling of being mixed up in it all.

Kobayashi also revealed that Resi 6 will feature the return of zombies, following the series' “infected” focus in recent years. They'll be joined by other enemies, including the fearsome “Javo,” the green-eyed monster featured in the trailer. Kobayashi said that Javo will have a “greater impact” than any of the zombies in the game.

As well as Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield, Kobayashi also confirmed that you can play as another male character. The exec producer didn't mention the character's name, but described him as "the man who's told to save the world." You can see him in the trailer too. He's the shaven-headed dude.

The story begins in America, where Kennedy witnesses a bioterrorist attack that transforms the President into a zombie. He then embarks on a journey to Tall Oaks with a character called Helena Harper, a member of the President's security detail. Again, as seen in the trailer, she's the girl that says, “it's all my fault,” following the attack on the President.

Redfield, meanwhile, is hard at work investigating a bioterrorism case in China. While the two character's stories will unfold simultaneously, said Kobayashi, the action in China will remain focused on one particular city.

Kobayashi also mentioned that Resi 6 employs the largest staff count in the history of the series. Though a core team of around 160 people are working on the game, if you include overseas staff and contributors that figure rises to over 600.

Rounding up the presentation, the executive producer promised more revelations to come.

Six-player Online Co-Op, EIght-player Online Multiplayer for Resident Evil 6

More details on Resident Evil 6 emerged over the weekend, shedding a little light on what we can expect from Capcom's latest iteration of the venerable horror series.

First comes the news that the game will support two-player offline co-op (Failed will be pleased), up to six players for online co-op and up to eight players for another online multiplayer mode. The details, unconfirmed by Capcom but almost certainly on the money, come from the game's Xbox.com listing.

Beyond that we've got some tasty little titbits via the game's official Twitter page. Engaging with fan interest, the account has said that the game has been in development for 2 years and features an "overhauled" control scheme, featuring "a number of new elements."

It also revealed that the zombies are "unlike any in past Resident Evil games" and that "There will certainly be a survival horror element to the game, mixed in with classic Resident Evil moments."

Resident Evil 6 was unveiled last week with a generously long trailer and a bunch of details. The game comes out in November this year.

Bring back the scares or don't, go full action or go back to the slower pace but go one direction full on. Resi 5 was really half-arsed it didn't know what it wanted to be. Overhauled control system is welcome though, I think during the more frantic parts of 5 that was a killer, the stiffness of the controls just made me go ''oh whatever!!''

Resident Evil 6 demo hits Xbox 360 first, coming in July
But only if you buy Dragon's Dogma

Capcom's announced a Resident Evil 6 demo for 3rd July on Xbox 360. Other platforms have to wait till September. Sold? Don't dance for joy just yet - you'll need a copy of Dragon's Dogma, out 25th May in Europe, if you want early access to the new Leon Kennedy.

Stranger to Dragon's Dogma (http://www.oxm.co.uk/27420/capcom-unveils-new-ip-dragons-dogma-screens-and-info/)? It's a sprawling fantasy action game which sees players hunting mythical beasts with the aid of AI companions. It's got serious depth - you can completely re-customise your squad at any point, and there's a mighty open world to wander - but we're still waiting to discover whether the associated running, slicing and dicing is worth the asking price.

Resident Evil 6 is a safer proposition: it doesn't seem to be turning back the clock to survival horror's heyday, but it's got three standalone campaigns, online co-op and a welter of predictably tentacle-tastic setpieces. Lovers of ripped-up B-movie tropes should be amused. Discussing the franchise as a whole, Capcom has said it's eager to seduce Call of Duty's customers.

Resident Evil 6 levels, controls, "demon" zombies, Mystery Man detailed
Capcom talks characters, enemies and gameplay

How do you like your zombies? Shambolic and dim-witted, or mobile and adaptable? Capcom has released a bevy of new Resident Evil 6 details over at Capcom Unity, touching on the game's characters, setting and enemies.

A few basics to start us off: this won't be your classic, fire-from-standstill Resident Evil. Players can move and shoot simultaneously, take cover behind objects and perform evasive rolls. OK, none of that's exactly rocket science post-Vanquish, but it's nice to know we can back away from things while we're blowing them to hell.

Resident Evil 6 begins a few years after the events of Resident Evil 5. Among other blighted locations, it'll take you to the fictional coastal town of Lanshiang in China. That's Chris Redfield's beat - on the strength of the trailer, Leon Kennedy will spend most of his time gunning down elected officials in North America.

There are new zombie types (or "BOWs", as Resident Evil loremasters may prefer), including leaping undead and the J'avo - more evolved super-zombies who can understand speech and coordinate their attacks. Blast one of these suckers and it'll regenerate, but doing so risks further mutation.

Remember that bit in the trailer when Chris Redfield gets hoisted from cover by an undead Mr Fantastic? Yeah, that was a J'avo. The name means "demon" in Serbian, apparently.

There are a few quick notes on some of the game's characters.

Leon Kennedy

After the Raccoon City Incident, Leon was recruited into government service by one Adam Benford, who would go on to become the current in-game President of the United States. Since those horrific moments at Raccoon City, he's dedicated to the cause of confronting bioterror wherever it lies.

Helena Harper

Another government agent who was just about to become part of the Secret Service. All we really know about her is she regretfully claims to be responsible for the latest outbreak.

Chris Redfield

Part of the bioterror incidents from the very beginning, Chris continues to take the fight to the frontlines. Some kind of personal trauma, which takes place prior to RE6, haunts Chris, though he's committed to protecting Lanshiang and serving in the BSAA.

Mystery Man

Still no concrete details on who this is or what his agenda might be (seriously, even I don't know!), but we can tell he's a mercenary. At some point he's told he could save the world, though money seems to be on his mind...

Ingrid Hunnigan

Eagle-eyed fans probably spotted Leon's helpful Field Operations Support officer in the trailer. Ingrid continues to aid Leon in his mission.

Adam Benford

The current President of the United States. Though he's a zombie now, so he's probably not up to much.

This is "just the tip of the iceberg" for Resident Evil 6, with several months remaining till release. We'll keep you posted. There's a demo coming in July, providing you invest in a copy of Dragon's Dogma.

Resident Evil 6: Other Christmas games can 'get the hell out of the way'
Capcom not worried about launching in busy period

Capcom's Christian Svensson has said Resident Evil 6 is off to a great start, with early pre-order numbers topping all of the previous entries in the much loved survival horror series.

Speaking to GameInformer (http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/03/13/capcom-going-big-with-resident-evil-6.aspx), the senior VP of strategy was asked about the timing of the Resi 6 announcement, which coincided with the release of Resident Evil: Revelations for the Nintendo 3DS and in the thick of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City promotion.

He replied by saying the decision was intended to raise overall awareness of the series, and record pre-order numbers are an indication that the strategy worked.

"Our pre-orders for Revelations and Raccoon City were both helped on an upward spike with the announcement of Resident Evil 6. The pre-orders for Resident Evil 6 are off to a fantastic start. The best start a Resident Evil game has ever had," he explained.

The Capcom exec went on to justify the early November 20 release date announcement for the title and said it isn't worried about other big games launching in the same period.

"We're saying, 'Get the hell out of the way.' We're a big game. We're letting you know we're coming. We're giving people plenty of room to move around us. The other part is the nuts and bolts of it. If we put our stake in the ground, we can start lining up retail channel promotions, etc."

GAME and Gamestation won't be stocking Capcom's Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City or Tecmo Koei's Ninja Gaiden 3 and Warriors Orochi 3 when the titles launch later this month.

Capcom: survival horror market too small for Resident Evil
"We need to keep going in the action-oriented direction."

The survival horror market is too small for Resident Evil, Capcom has admitted.

That's why the series has, and will continue, to branch out into more action-oriented areas, Resident Evil producer Masachika Kawata told Gamasutra.

"Especially for the North American market, I think the series needs to head in that [action-oriented] direction," Kawata said. "[Resident Evil's primary games] need to be an extension of the changes made in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5.

"RE4 started in that direction, and RE5 kept going in that direction. And I think that especially for the North American market, we need to keep going in that direction, and take that a step further. And that's exactly one of the reasons that [3DS game] Revelations is the way it is."

Resident Evil's evolution from tense, survival horror thriller into over-the-top third-person action territory began with the release of Resident Evil 4 in 2005. Resident Evil 5, released in 2009, went one step further.

Now, series fans are faced with multiple Resident Evil games, including third-person shooter Operation Raccoon City, the first Resident Evil to be developed outside Japan.

Why the change? Kawata said sales of survival horror games can't compete with those of the industry's big-hitters, such as Call of Duty.

"Looking at the marketing data [for survival horror games]... the market is small, compared to the number of units Call of Duty and all those action games sell," he said. "A survival horror Resident Evil doesn't seem like it'd be able to sell those kind of numbers."

What does this mean for Resident Evil 6, due out later this year? Will it be the most action-oriented game in the series so far?

"I can't really speak for Resident Evil 6, but I don't think that it necessarily has to go all the way in that [action-heavy] direction, the Call of Duty direction," Kawata said. "It doesn't have to be a straight up shooter. But my impression is that Resident Evil 4 and 5 aren't shooters, per se."

Despite the need to sell more units, and thus the need to move away from survival horror, Kawata said there are opportunities for Capcom to satisfy fans who still hunger for the franchise's old school gameplay.

"So we have our numbered series, and we can say we have a more adventure-oriented version, like a Revelations-style game. And we also have Operation: Raccoon City, which is a third-person shooter.

"So I think that by extending the market in this sense, we can still have the numbered titles keep their identity about what Resident Evil is supposed to be, but still expand and hit other markets as well."

Either way, according to Kawata, a good game is a good game, and should sell off the back of its quality. "If you're going to be selling a game based on its good gameplay, then you don't have to worry about the market in which it will be sold," he said. Here, targeted marketing takes over.

"If we're going to make games that sell based on quality content, they should be able to appeal around the world. That might be obvious, but that's why Grand Theft Auto IV, Skyrim and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare also sell in Japan, because their gameplay is interesting."

Title: Resident Evil 6 release date brought forward
Post by: Smithk4 on April 11, 2012, 02:47:24 AM

Resident Evil 6 is having its release date brought forward to early October, with a demo of the latest in the survival horror series coming early this summer.

Originally slated for worldwide release on November 20 this year, it's now due out on October 2.

"First, let me say that we're not really afraid of other companies and their titles," Resident Evil 6's executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi told Eurogamer when asked if there was any game in particular that had prompted the change.

"The problem for us is when we brought this idea to the dev team and told them they'd have to cut some time off of their dev cycle to put this out early - that was the scariest thing, not the fear of other company's games."

"After we announced the game back in January, the reaction from fans was pretty impressive," continued producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi. "In response to that, we decided that we wanted to get this game in people's hands as soon as possible."

A demo will be released later this year, with those who buy Capcom's forthcoming RPG Dragon's Dogma getting early access. A token will be included in all new copies of the game upon its release on May 25 (May 22 in America) with the demo being made available for download on July 3 on Xbox 360 and September 4 on PS3.

Resident Evil 6 introduces multiple playable characters to the series, each with their own distinctive style of play.

Resident Evil 6 Premium Edition costs £817
Includes Leon's leather jacket

Capcom has announced the Resident Evil 6 Premium Edition, one of the most expensive video game special editions of all time.

Currently limited to Japan, the Resident Evil 6 Premium Edition will cost 105,000 yen.

That's £817.

The Premium Edition includes the game, a set of four case covers and, best of all, Leon Kennedy's funky new leather jacket (now available to pre-order (http://www.e-capcom.com/bio6/) in Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large sizes), reports Siliconera.

Leon is set to model a dark and rugged looking number in Resident Evil 6, with a dashing looking collar and pockets to spare. It's far removed from the snug fleece-lined coat he wore in Resident Evil 4.

Each of the Premium Edition's case covers will sport one of the protagonists revealed thus far: Leon, Chris Redfield and Wesker offspring Jake Muller. The fourth cover features a "secret" design yet to be revealed. Hmm.

I like the camera in the gameplay video and shoot while you move oh my god thank god!!
Here's where I stand on this, Resi has always been a favourite but 5 stung so hard it almost me made cry (not really of course but it's a terrifying image right!). If I like the demo then it's most likely on, of course demo's can be deceptive in themselves but at least I get to play it in a couple of weeks to see and have plenty of time to contemplate a pre-order. Wow me 6 I dare ya!

Ps3 looks attractive, I don't think they're are any improvements to the included games just what's on PSN store (resi 1-3 ) but it sure is the better package.

Resident Evil 6 Collector's Edition detailed for UK, contains Resident Evil 6 DLC
Plus: Tall Oaks hoodie, Resident Evil emblems

Capcom has announced and detailed the Resident Evil 6 Collector's Edition, which will be exclusively available from unannounced retailer(s) in the UK. Do you like zombies? Do you like fashion? You should probably preorder this, then.

Besides the usual artbook, the CE contains a hoodie from Ivy University, Tall Oaks, one of the new Resident Evil's campaign locations. You'll explore it as Leon S. Kennedy, in what are reportedly the game's spookiest sections.

Here's the content sheet in full:

- Resident Evil 6 game

- Zombie Steel Book

- Exclusive Resident Evil 6 hardback artbook showing concept art from the game

- Resident Evil 6 Avatar DLC code for 360 owners OR an RE6 Dynamic Theme for PS3 owners

- Ivy University, Tall Oaks hooded sweatshirt (one size)

- 'The RE6 forces emblems' - High quality enamelled zinc alloy emblems of the three main protagonists squad insignias, mounted and set in a limited numbered frame authenticated with signatures from Senior producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and RE6 Director Eiichiro Sasaki. A must have piece for any fan of Resident Evil!

- All of the above amazing goodies are bundled together in the lenticular 'Needle Bomb' collectors box (as seen in the RE6 announce trailer)

Sold? If you haven't got space in the cupboard for all that amazingness, you can always pick up the Resident Evil 6 Steelbook Edition - cheaper, compacter but still indicative of a respectable level of fan worship.

Oww sting or what, I wonder why they didn't issue the same sets as the US it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense :(
Shopto have a limited edition advertised, it's the steelbook and 3 dlc maps, presumably for mercenaries or something.

Found this as well Game uk are offering the maps but no steelbook and get this piece of info the red text is the important part. Now correct me if I'm wrong but didn't someone from Capcom say that Mercernaries was open from the start? mmm:

Preorder Resident Evil 6 and you will receive a code to download 3 exclusive maps to use in Mercenaries mode. This code also unlocks the Mercenaries mode, without having to first complete the game. The 3 maps are:
Rail Yard
A multi level stage set in the steel and concrete confines of a railroad yard
Enemies are lurking everywhere, from inside the trains, to the roof of the yard
Stand still for two long and you’re a goner.
High Seas Fortress
A huge map that sees you battling on the decks of an aircraft carrier, to the interior of the hangars.
Expect epic shootout battles on the deck but get ready to perfect those close quarters combat skills for the inside of the hangars.
The Catacombs
A dark and mysterious series of tunnels
Booby traps add a twist to the game, set traps on your foes but be careful not to get trapped by them.

Demo Impressions:

You get a little bit of each of the three campaigns with all 6 characters playable.
The hud is all reworked and looks nice enough.
Graphics are of a high standard and voice acting/mouth syncing is very well done with some nice movement on the muscles around the mouth/jaw.
There are two menus (I'll correct this if I'm wrong!):
1. For weapons + grenade types
2. For items such as herbs (3 options: combine/use/discard)

Menus are real time.

Auto fire/single shot on auto weapons.
Dual weild pistols (for leon optional)
Parkour across objects. Melee actions are easy to perform with RT and easy executions.

Only played with Chris + Jake so far, but I have to say that I don't like the ''ACTION'' of Chris and partner Piers Nivens campaign. The enemies seem dumb. It could be just on easy mode though so worries on that count.

Co-op play is included as well.

Update:

The demo is the ten minute gameplay videos shown recently.

Options show various colour choices for laser target eg red/green/purple/yellow etc.
Various camera angle changes in options to suit each player.

Leon auto runs with the pistol pointed down except it seems when the game is pulling a ''tense'' moment.

There are skill pick-ups which are not explained in the demo.
There are destructible environments in Jake's section albeit ''here's a barrel, oh it's beside a wall let's see what happens'' but it it looks good if not script built.

The Ustanak is a bow that looks like a super mutant from Fallout with mechanical attachments (Jake + Sherry's campaign) and is pretty fast and nasty.

In Chris/Piers + Jake/Sherry's campaigns there are what appear to be gun weilding humanoid antagonists that ''vaporize'' upon death (unknown as to what they are, but zombies they are certainly not, some kind of low-spec disposable military bow?)

There is a health regeneration system ala ME3 herbs are still in.

Leon is now Bruce Lee apparently!

Pros:
The frustrations of Resi 5 are gone, being able to shoot and move at the same time is a welcome change.
Nice shadowing, good looking textures, high sound standard and solid controls.
Various campaigns that have a different feel to the them including the huds.

Cons:
Feels a little soulless except in one part
(click to show/hide)
The action campaign of Chris could be the weak link as the action just isn't intense.
The tension moments feels a little too forced such as ''who turned the lights out?'' yes Leon's partner Helena does actually say that!

Story wise if you've seen the previously mentioned videos then you know already what to expect. If you haven't then I won't give away any spoilers, even though the demo doesn't really give anything away which is a good thing.

Overall: Still hanging on the fence here.
With the new controls mercenaries could be the saviour of the project.

Resident Evil 6 'Agent Hunt Mode' Revealed

Resident Evil 6 is to get a new mode to accompany the fast and frenetic Mercenaries Mode, turning the tables on the game's heroes for 'Agent Hunt Mode', in which you get to play as a virus-addled creature and take down Leon, Chris and co.

The new mode is detailed in the latest issue of weekly Japanese games mag Famitsu, revealing that it's integrated into the main game and unlocked once you've cleared the story. Mercenaries will be available immediately in Resident Evil 6 and upon completing the game, you'll be able to set some of the stages to Agent Hunt Mode.

Using voice chat to communicate and plan out your tactics, you'll spawn into the stage as a bio-organic weapon or a zombie, at which point you can team up to tackle a single player. When players enter the stage as a creature, the player will be alerted, but they won't know which is human-controlled.

Sounds like an intriguing twist for Mercenaries Mode. You'll be able to give the new Agent Hunt Mode a spin when Resident Evil 6 launches worldwide on October 2nd, 2012.

Resident Evil 6's Ada Campaign To Be an Unlockable Bonus

If you thought Ada Wong's secret campaign might be Resident Evil 6's first dose of DLC, you were dead wrong. It will in fact be an unlockable bonus for completing all three of the game's campaign storylines, meaning you'll need to beat the game with Leon, Chris and Jake to acquire the additional extra.

Ada is armed with her crossbow and time bombs, and unlike the rest of Resident Evil 6, Ada's campaign will be a single-player only story thread. It's also entirely possible that Ada will be in Mercenaries Mode, which for the first time in Resident Evil history will be unlocked from the get-go.

Capcom also revealed the new Agent Hunt Mode, which enables players to drop in to the game as a J'avo, zombie, Bio-Organic Weapon or other Resident Evil creature. Resident Evil 6 is out on October 2nd, 2012.

Free Resident Evil 6 Update Unlocks Ada Wong Campaign, Improves Camera, Adds No Hope Difficulty, More

Capcom is releasing a free (repeat free) update for Resident Evil 6, addressing issues some players had with the game nd adding new functionality.

The update, which will be made available mid-December, includes improved camera controls and a wider range of subtitling options, plus it’ll unlock Ada Wong’s campaign from the start and add the No Hope difficulty setting.

Read on for a full breakdown of the update’s contents, in Capcom’s own words.

Gamers will be able to adjust the camera to give a greater field of view as best suits their play style. *Please note that this feature is still in development and may change without further notice before the title update is released.

Subtitle options have been improved so that English language audio can be combined with subtitles in an alternative language.

As recently announced, Ada Wong’s campaign will be unlocked from the start and have an optional player-controlled co-op partner added. It was previously necessary to complete all three other campaigns in order to unlock Ada’s story.

‘No Hope’ difficulty level will be added above the existing levels, for players who want an extreme challenge.

The release ends, “Capcom values user feedback on Resident Evil 6 and ResidentEvil.net and is working continuously to improve the experience for players.”

Cliff Bleszinski Expresses a Desire to "Fix" Resident Evil

It seems that ex-Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski hasn't been particularly fond of Resident Evil's continued foray into action territory either, as he now fancies having a crack at "fixing" the game. Having departed Epic Games, it appears that Bleszinski could be on the lookout for new post-Gears of War projects.

"Hey, Capcom. Call me. We can fix Resident Evil. Together. :-)" Bleszinski tweeted, to which Capcom UK replied, "bring Pizza". Capcom UK later noted that Bleszinski's tweet was "a bit cocky".

Would you like to see Cliff Bleszinski joining forces with Capcom to "fix' Resident Evil?

First Major Resident Evil 6 DLC Announced, Timed Xbox 360 Exclusive

Capcom has announced the first major post-launch DLC for Resident Evil 6 and it’s a timed Xbox 360 exclusive.

The add-on brings three new modes to the game; Predator, Survivors and Onslaught.

Capcom has announced the first major post-launch DLC for Resident Evil 6, which will include three new modes, exclusive for the Xbox 360.

Here’s the breakdown of each mode in Capcom’s words:

“Available for two to six players, in Predator one player takes on the role of the Ustanak, the fearsome B.O.W. that stalks Jake Muller throughout his campaign, and tries to eliminate the human players.  The humans’ task: stop the deadly B.O.W. in its tracks, or at least survive until the end of the session.

“Survivors takes the classic solo and team-based versus mode and adds a twist. Get killed and respawn as an enemy character with the ability to attack the human characters. Take down one human character to resurrect in human form. Last man or team standing wins. Survivors can be played by two to six players.

“Onslaught sees two players go head-to-head in an attempt to clear waves of oncoming enemies. Chaining combos provides the key to success in Onslaught as this will send enemies over to the opponent’s screen, the more that are sent over, the quicker the victory will be."

The DLC will be available from December 19th. You can either buy each mode separately for 320MSP or all three in a pack for 720MP.

In addition to this, on December 17th Capcom will issue a free title update for the game.

The patch unlocks Ada Wong’s campaign and allows co-op play through her campaign. It also adds an extra-tough No Hope difficulty, increased subtitle support and a the option to widen the in-game camera view.

Resident Evil 6 Siege Mode Revealed, Priced and Dated

Capcom has revealed that Resident Evil 6 is set to get another additional mode with the online multiplayer Siege Mode, which supports action for 2-6 players.

Siege Mode has a lone AI rookie BSAA agent in trouble and in desperate need of help, while two teams battle it out to save or kill the agent. One team assumes control of playable characters from Resident Evil 6's campaign to protect the agent, while the other team plays as enemy creatures hell-bent on taking the vulnerable rookie down.

Each Siege match consists of two rounds wherein teams alternate between human and enemy creature roles, defending and striving to kill the rookie respectively.

Siege Mode will be coming to Xbox 360 in March for 320 Microsoft Points.
