"How can we be more transparent and let people see it in actual dollars? You've got to think that we have one service that we're offering around the world. The nice thing about Points is that no matter if you're on the JPY or the EUR or the USD - something that's 200 Points is 200 Points everywhere around the world."

"There's more technical complexities to being able to put local prices in," he added. "You have to do that for every product in every country and you then have to deal with currency fluctuations. So there's some challenges to that, but we absolutely did it with the Games On Demand, response has been good and absolutely it's something we're looking at doing."

I know people like to complain about "real money", but I've always agreed with the Big Picture purpose of Microsoft Points.  A universal currency that can be used in every country.  Instead of changing the price of each individual item across regions, you simply change the price of the Microsoft Points themselves.

Much more efficient way to market internationally.  Sony's PSN Store's content doesn't come close to the amount of individual items for purchase on XBL Marketplace.  In a year or so once Sony has more to offer in their Store, it's going to be a nightmare trying to keep pricing for everything equal across borders.

They do seem to have increased the 'price ' of everything lately.
What used to be 800 msp now seems to be 1200msp.
