I used a different, but similar approach to stealth.  I was mostly mage, and would use only a few spells.  One to make them very weak to fire, a powerful fire touch attack, a massive heal that took almost all my magicka, and invisibility.

Invisibility became such a low costing spell that lasted forever, and no enemies would attack you in it.  So I'd do my two attacks, go invis.  Wait til full magicka, do a massive heal, go invis.  I'd just repeat that til everything was dead and it provided almost zero challenge.

Some mods helped 'fix' that.  I did enjoy Midas Magic spells mod, as some of them were completely awesome and very useful.  Portable chest, flying carpet, and crazy powerful attacks.  Let's not forget the cheese atronach either!
I like my women how I like my coffee: ground up and in the freezer.

The doctors say his chances are 50/50... but there's only a 10% chance of that.

There is a combat overhaul mod out there for Oblivion that is really cool as well. It adds some depth to the combat, soups up the AI, and allows you to do cool finisher attacks. The downside is that it is buggy as hell and doesn't play well with other mods.

I played oblivion as a mage, and pretty much went all out magic or used enchanted daggers and such. In fact i still need to finish the game, and the dlc.

I'm not all that sold on Gears, actually. Gears 2 for me felt like Halo 3. That is it felt tired, been-there-done-that, and unimproved (not to mention they both had plots that made absolutely no sense at all). Gears 3 will have to really be something special to get me back into the franchise.

It can be done, though. I did end up eventually buying Halo: Reach after holding out for several months. And to be fair my good will with the Gears franchise isn't as low as it was with Halo after Halo 3 (because after all Halo 3 followed Halo 2, which was an even more mediocre game).

Bethesda confirms no dynamic difficulty in Skyrim
Monsters no longer scale to match your level

Bethesda's Todd Howard has confirmed that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim won't have constantly scaling dynamic difficulty, as seen and moaned at in predecessor Oblivion.

"It's similar now to what we did in Fallout 3, where we changed it a lot," he told OXM.

While the game will evaluate your hero and assign an appropriate difficulty as you enter individual dungeons, you won't find the entire world levelling up in step with your hero.

"We have the ability now to set a dungeon and say that 'this dungeon is this hard.'"

But that doesn't neccessarily mean that it'll set itself as easy, he warns. "It might be much harder, just because of what it is... it might be much easier because of how we set it."

"The other thing it does is save the state of the monsters. So if you come in and it says, okay it's going to be this hard for your character... it won't change its difficulty if you leave."

good news. it's no good levelling up your character to be a bad ass if the monsters then become harder to kill, it was annoying on oblivion glad they have got rid of it.

Character models aren't that impressive, but the lighting is fantastic.  Of couse I'll have to see it in motion.

As I get older, I think lighting in a game has become one of my most important details.  It really immerses me in a game, especially RPGs.

Lighting is huge. I don't judge these official screenshots as being worth much, though. There is so much doctoring of these things to make them look better that you can't really tell much from them.
