Game of Thrones
« on: June 15, 2011, 09:48:00 PM »

Following my enthusiasm for Sean Bean in the movie Black Death, a friend of mine recommended this show.  Holy s***!

I knew nothing of the TV series, or the novels it's based on.  I just watched all 9 aired episodes in 2 days (thanks tv dome).  I need more.  This may be the best epic-fantasy-drama I've ever seen.

Who else watches Game of Thrones?  ... and why have you been hiding it from me!?!   ;)

I'm enjoying it too.  A little cliched in parts but enjoyable none the less.

quick question though, where did you get that picture from as I dont recognise two of the four characters... :-\

It's an early promo from before the show started, I stole it from EMR8 (an entertainment blog).

The 2 on the left are obviously the Queen and the Winerfell Lord.  The boy on the right is the "bastard" son, but looks much younger without the beard & long hair.  The girl on the right is a mystery.  I just presumed she's a character that hasn't appeared yet.

Massive fan of the books, some of the best epic fantasy ever! (Just hurry up and finish the story before you die!!)

Couldnt wait for the tv series to start, been watching teaser's and promos from HBO site and Martins blog/website since about 2009, havent been too disappointed yet, theres a few characters traits that are different from the books and some scenes/parts missing that would of been great to see, but on a whole its true to the books.

Emilia Clarke is smoking hot, so glad they kept most of the sex/nudity in  :o

The final episode of series one aired this week - I was impressed.

Knew nothing of the books etc but after being frustrated by the first few shows where the place was very slow it developed quite nicely.  Shame it was only 10 episodes.

Can't wait for the next series to start - anyone know expected dates?

Not that I can find.  HBO greenlit Season 2 in April, so I would imagine it won't be ready to air until the end of this year or early next year.

However, I could be wrong.  HBO's filming schedules may be more efficient than network TV since they control the entire production ... or maybe longer since they don't have to answer to sponsors.   :-\

It says it's a "trailer" but it's really a recap of the entire 1st season.  If you haven't watched the first season, you may not want to watch it.

Was a little turned off in the beginning.  Glad that I gave it a second chance, 'cause I found myself burning right through the remaining episodes and eager for more.
So, I borrowed the series from my brother and I just finished the latest novel yesterday..  Now, I'm really looking forward to seeing the it unfold on-screen.

I tried watching this but couldn't get past the first episode.

Hey, I'm a new character and this is my deal.

Hey, I'm also a new character, and this is MY deal.

Hail! I am yet another new character, and my deal is this.
*random cutaway*
Hello again viewer, I thought you might enjoy a random and graphic sex scene.
*random cutaway*
Greetings, I am a brand new character, and I have a deal. This is it.
*random cutaway*
Remember me? No? Well, this new random and graphic sex scene might well jog your memory! Huzzah!
*random cutaway*

Rinse and repeat until there are 30 seperate characters who I don't care about, and I've seen about 20 of them naked and having sex.
Your mom!

There are a lot of characters that you're forced to know fast.  I think dislike for the 1st episode is pretty common.

My friend forewarned me to not judge it until I watched 3 episodes.  At that point you start piecing together how everyone is connected, and where the story is going.  Especially if you haven't read the books.

Not sure if 3 was enough for me, it felt like 5/6 before it got interesting.
