Power gig: rise of the six string

1) This will fail when up against RB3 which also has a real guitar
2) I watched this video and have no idea what this guy is going on about
3) This has to be the dullest presentation ever. If there was any hope for this game, it has been killed by their own lead designers charisma bypass surgery.
I dare you to watch this and not fall asleep!

I was getting ready to do this and then realized somebody already did.  Thank you!   :-*

I saw this last night, and the exact same thoughts came to mind.  The concept of the game's story is interesting, it kind of reminds me of Brutal Legend.  But the guy presenting it is gawdawful!  Why the hell did they release that video to promote their game?  They should be embarrassed.

the hardest part was finding the original post it was that far back in the listings .... that's because this game isn't GH or RB

i think i remember Dfuzz being quite intrigued about it

... until Rock Band confirmed RB3 would use a real guitar as well.

I still haven't heard whether or not you can use your own real guitar, or if you have to have their own branded guitar to play.  Anyone know?

80 percent of Power Gig setlist is new to music games

Here she is: the full Power Gig: Rise of the Six String setlist -- all 70 tracks of it. As promised, Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews Band and Kid Rock are all on board (for the first time ever in a music game, no less), along with John Mayer, Paramore and harder rocking from the likes of Mastodon and Incubus. 80 percent of the tracks have never appeared in a music game before at all -- pretty impressive for an original IP. Power Gig will have plenty of competition this fall, but it looks like the setlist won't be a weak spot.

Take a look at the tunes below and answer this question: What's the absolute best song on the list? If you said Bad Religion's "I Want to Conquer the World," you're exactly right.

Eric Clapton - Layla
Eric Clapton - Lay Down Sally
Eric Clapton - Let It Rain
Dave Matthews Band - Funny The Way It Is
Dave Matthews Band - Tripping Billies
Dave Matthews Band - Why I Am
Kid Rock - All Summer Long
Kid Rock - Rock 'N' Roll Jesus
Kid Rock - Son of Detroit
John Mayer - No Such Thing
Jane's Addiction - Been Caught Stealing
No Doubt - Platinum Blonde Life
Ozzy Osbourne - A.V.H.
Queens of the Stone Age - You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire
Smashing Pumpkins - Cherub Rock
Disturbed - The Night
Rage Against the Machine - Bombtrack
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Couldn't Stand The Weather
Black Sabbath - The Devil Cried
Stone Temple Pilots - Plush
Living Colour - Cult of Personality
John Mayer - Who Do You Think I Was
Snow Patrol - Hands Open
Three Days Grace - Break
Paramore - Ignorance
Silversun Pickups - Substitution
The Offspring - You're Gonna Go Far Kid
The Black Label Society - Retribution
Breaking Benjamin - Breath
The Tragically Hip - New Orleans Is Sinking
The Used - Blood on My Hands
Mastodon - Crack the Skye
A Perfect Circle - The Hollow
Buckcherry - Tired of You
Firewind - Head Up High
The Black Keys - Strange Times
Flyleaf - Again
Godsmack - Awake
Incubus - Wish You Were Here
Jet - She's A Genius
The Hives - Tick Tick Boom
John Mayer - Crossroads
Bad Religion - I Want to Conquer the World
Korn - Hold On
The Academy Is... - His Girl Friday
Lacuna Coil - Spellbound
MuteMath - Chaos
New Found Glory - Listen to Your Friends
P.O.D. - Alive
Puddle of Mudd - Blurry
Rise Against - Paper Wings
Sick Puppies - You're Going Down
The Donnas - Fall Behind Me
The Get Up Kids - Martyr Me
Idlewild - Reader and Writers
Surfer Blood - Swim
Channels - Chivaree
Superdrag - Aspartame
Envy on the Coast - Headfirst in the River
Damiera - Silvertongue
A Cursive Memory - Everything
The Hounds Below - She's Alchemy
A Love Like PI - Innocent Man
The Willowz - I Know
I See Stars - Comfortably Confused
The Paris Riots - Hotel of Infidels
School Boy Humor - Camera Shy
So Many Dynamos - Artifacts of Sound
Taxpayer - When You When Young
The Fatal Flaw - Don't Start Believing

Some good songs don't manage to save a weak set list when in comparison to RB3. Unless this game gets some amazing reviews, which it won't, then i am gonna just buy RB3 and miss this one out entirely. And does anyone know if you can play a plastic guitar or do you have to use a real one, and can you use your own real one? If you can use your own i would be tempted.

It comes with it's own guitar that is compatible with GH and Rock Band games so yes there will be a plastic guitar, not sure if current guitars work on it though, I guess they probably do but you'll miss out on certain game features in the same way as using a GH guitar on Rock Band means you can't do the solos properly.

If current guitars are compatible then it's a definite rental.   :)
