First 15 Batman: Arkham Origins screenshots arrive - Bats, Black Mask, Deathstroke strut their stuff
Also: pre-Penguin Cobblepot, new environments

The first Batman: Arkham Origin screenshots are here, care of Game Informer, care of All Games Beta's roving fingers. If you can't call a morning complete without staring into Bruce Wayne's crotch as he kicks some ne'er-do-well in the chops, scroll down.

The shots are consistent with Arkham City's direction, obviously, and the new villains look like they're well worth beating on. Any initial thoughts? Hit the image to start the gallery, and read yesterday's announcement post for details of platforms, developers and release dates.

Batman:Arkham Origins To Boast Multiplayer [According to Kotaku Sources]

Details:
Quote
According to our tipster: during at least one section of multiplayer, you play as a member of Joker or Bane's gang while trying to take down Batman and Robin. The villains involved—who may be playable and customizable—include Killer Croc, Deadshot, Firefly, Black Mask, Deathstroke, and "some kind of Electroman character," our tipster said. (Maybe Electrocutioner?)

That's all unconfirmed, but we feel comfortable sharing it, since our tipster was spot-on about the name and cover. This could be one multiplayer mode, or it could be the only one. We don't know. We'll find out more this fall.

Batman voice actor won't return for Arkham Origins
Perhaps he's Alfred up with the series.

Veteran voice actor Kevin Conroy will not voice Batman in Warner Bros. Montreal's upcoming Arkham City: Origins.

It's unclear whether Conroy was asked back. The prequel is known to star a younger version of the character than shown in previous Arkham titles and South African gaming magazine NAG has reported that a younger voice is being sought.

Conroy has voiced almost every non-live action appearance by Batman since the early nineties.

He first took on the role of the Dark Knight for TV's Batman: The Animated Series and earned his first video game credit for 1994 Sega CD title The Adventures of Batman and Robin.

Conroy's recent video game appearances as Batman have included DC Universe Online and Injustice: Gods Among Us, as well as both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

Mark "Luke Skywalker" Hamill, voice of the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and both Arkham games, previously said he would not return, either.

I'm not sure that the lack of the classic voice talent(Hamil & Conroy) will make or break the game, but it's definitely not going to help.

Liking what's being shown. Don't know why (might be the video), but the animations look very cartoon-ish or fluid in texture and modeling in the character movements, especially visible during fight sequences. Nothing wrong with it, but the feel is...different.

And I guess there's no way around this, being that it's a prequel - but having more advanced versions of gadgets in this game makes things feel out of place with regards to "Asylum" and "Arkham City"...

Batman: Arkham Origins Collector's Edition steps into the light
Contains art book, exclusive DLC and collectable figurine

Poor Bats. For a guy who dresses up in black and likes to hide around in the shadows it must be awfully embarrassing when his secrets get exposed. Secrets like the contents of the upcoming Arkham Origins collectors edition.

As spotted by Arkhamverse, French PS3 (ahem) website PS3Gen has uncovered the image which shows off the collection of goodies hardcore Batfans will get if they pick up the Collector's Edition of the game.

Inside an impressive-looking holographic box, the game itself comes in a fancy 3D SteelBox case featuring Batman in his natural scowling state. Alongside that is an Art of Batman: Arkham Origins book containing, naturally, artwork from the game and its development along with two pieces of "exclusive" DLC - the resolution of the image makes it a bit hard to see, but it looks to me like an alternate costume for the Caped Crusader and the Deathstroke pre-order bonus revealed earlier this year. A quick Google translate on the French page also mentions a "challenge mode" DLC, although no word on what that actually entails or whether it's similar to the Riddler's Revenge challenge mode featured in Arkham City.

The main star of the show though is a 23cms Collectible Figurine showing the Caped Crusader and arch nemesis Joker in a rather threatening pose. Presumably, Brucie's not a fan of the Joker's brand of homicidal comedy. Everyone's a critic. According to the PS3Gen website, the pack is expected to cost around €99 - no word on UK pricing yet but expect it to be roughly similar when Arkham Origins swoops in on the 25th October.

Mad Hatter Outed For Batman: Arkham Origins

Mad Hatter has been outed as the latest villain to be added to the Batman: Arkham Origins line-up.

The revelation comes via this month’s issue of Official Xbox Magazine, which has been snapped and uploaded by a reader.

Mad Hatter also appeared in Batman: Arkham City, but only as a minor character. Looks like the mind-controlling mad scientist will be playing a larger role this time out.

Last week Copperhead was revealed as a character in the upcoming, Warner Bros. Montreal title.
