Help with Headset mic not working
« on: January 03, 2013, 04:22:54 AM »
I doubt I'll actually be able to fix this but before I go and buy a new headset thought would ask here first, I've got a pair of Mad Catz AMPX headset and they've been working great for months and then xmas night for some reason the mic has stopped working, I can still hear the game audio and people talking to me without a problem but for some reason the mic won't pick my voice up, has anyone had anything like with their own headsets and any tips to fix it, I've searched internet but i think because my headset are cheap ones people don't care. lol, thanks in advance

Try recording a voice message while shifting your mic around.  If you hear static or partial words during playback, the wiring is simply shot.  You can try rewiring it with some light speaker wire, but it might be more work than it's worth.

Ok thanks I'll try it later, I bought a replacement mic from tesco's but for some reason when I have the mic on my ear it doesn't pick my voice up unless I hold the mic right next to my mouth, starting to think this is some sort of weird way xbox is trying to tell me I talk too much s**t, lol
