free demo's days are numbered are they? Gamers will soon have to buy brand new games to play online or pay extra will they? Gaming is getting way too expensive. If gamers have to start paying exta to play online and buy game demo's then microsoft will seriously have to think about making gold membership free, as the two main selling points of gold are being able to play online and download free game demos. Next they will be charging extra for the instruction manuals!

Already do, they make up a small percentage of the RRP  :)

smart arse  ;)

Crysis 2 in autumn, MP beta planned

EA has said that Crysis 2 will be released this autumn and will be preceded by the unceasingly popular multiplayer beta.

The autumn target was specified in an advert in trade mag MCV, EA having previously said to expect it in calendar-Q4. October or November, then, presumably.

As for the beta, there are no exact details on it, but fans of Crytek's output who sign up to today's relaunched MyCrysis service will be in with a shout, according to the developer.

Check out our most recent Crysis 2 hands-on preview to find out what happens when nanosuits get real in New York.

Crysis 2 is due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Crysis 2 playable entirely in 3D

Crytek's upcoming first-person shooter Crysis 2 will be playable entirely in 3D.

That's according to Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, who spoke to USA Today ahead of E3 this week.

"The success of 3D movies like Avatar and the introduction of 3D TVs from the hardware manufacturers tells us that this is the next big movement in entertainment, much like HD was years ago," Yerli said.

"For games especially, 3D gives gamers an increased level of immersion, which can enhance an intense experience like Crysis 2."

According to the USA Today piece, the game will be fully 3D on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and even multiplayer content will be in 3D.

With that said, those of us who haven't bought a 3D TV or monitor will be able to play it all in old-school 2D instead.

Crysis 2 delayed to early 2011
Shooter out in first three months of next year

EA has pushed the release of Crysis 2 back to its fiscal Q4 2011 - which means it will arrive in the first three calendar months of next year.

The news was delivered in EA's Q1 financial results earlier this evening - and means the Crytek FPS will go up against the likes of Gears Of War 3 and EA's own Bulletstorm in the quarter.

The PS3, 360 and PC game was previously expected to release in autumn this year.

That was according to an advert in an issue of trade mag MCV, which displayed the autumn date along with the tag line 'be the weapon, save New York'.

Before that, the official word on its release was 'holiday 2010' (Christmas, for us non-Americans).

EA confirmed in June at E3 that the shooter would be playable in 3D.

First Crysis 2 beta only on Xbox 360

The first round of Crysis 2 closed multiplayer testing appears to be for Xbox 360 owners only.

An invitation sent out to community site members (and Kotaku) declared that "this tech test is limited to Xbox 360 consoles only this time around".

That infers that PC and PS3 owners will get a chance to play at a later date. All three platforms will need testing, clearly.

Nevertheless, we're asking EA for clarification.

The closed multiplayer test invitation doesn't mention a start date.

Crysis 2 was, not so long ago, delayed from autumn 2010 to March 2011. Developer Crytek promises to set the bar technically for a console game (its first); EA is bullish about review scores of 9/10 or higher; and apparently stereoscopic 3D makes the game more fun.

Xbox 360 gets exclusive Crysis 2 demo

A multiplayer Crysis 2 demo is heading exclusively to Xbox Live on 25th January, publisher EA has announced.

The demo will feature the game's Skyline map and two game modes: Team Instant Action and Crash Site. The former pits two teams against each other as they attempt to kill as many opponents as possible to earn higher ranks. In the latter you'll battle for control of alien drop pods, earning points by guarding their pods and keeping enemies at bay.

EA also revealed what goodies lie in store for anyone prepared to stump up for a pre-order. Early birds get a limited edition of the game which includes a camouflage skinned SCAR assault rifle and early access to the Holo Decoy - a weapon attachment that projects a moving holographic mirror of the player.

On top of that, you'll also get Platinum Dog Tags displaying your multiplayer rank and stats as well as a Bonus XP award to boost your rank.

Crytek's highly anticipated follow-up to its phenomenal 2007 shooter is due for release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 25th March.

I'm definitely in for Crysis 2. I think this is my multi-player game for the summer to see me through until Gears 3.
