I'm trying to grind at each bonfire as I reach them, going verrrry slowly through so far. Todays tasks: recover souls!!! get drake sword and attempt the bell gargoyles, although heavy knight and channeller stand in the way :( I'm in no rush through this experience really hooked in though, starting to really think about each run. Btw Elite guards with rapiers and bucklers can be nasty!

Well, Prism you have the right attitude about advancing, but I wouldnt grind those Rapier Knights. Early on they can kill you in almost one hit with their parry attacks. When I started playing, I didnt even know that enemies could parry. So it was back to the bridge, back through the rats, back through that area with all the soldiers with the guys shooting crossbows, and then back through the mess hall with all the hollows... just to get another shot.

I was terrified when I got to the Heavy Knight for the first time. I ended up killing him on the first try by baiting him and then hitting him with firebombs. I was too far to mess around.

I sort of miss the fear of playing the first time, when I never knew what was around the next corner or how long I would have to go before the next bonfire. Alas that is the price of experience. Playing in human form mixes this up a little at least, since you never know when you might be invaded.

The PvP I had at the Forest was actually pretty fair for the most part. There were some cheap equipment strategies and also cowards, but it wasnt unbearable. I consider someone a coward, who has the audacity to enter my world, start fighting me, quickly start to lose, then try to run into an area with vicious ai enemies (feral cats I think). He can chill over there, I will just challenge the boss.

The final area on the other hand, every time I have been invaded, it has been a cheap lagstepper, which so many PvP whores swear by. They use the Dark Woodgrain ring and flip around, which I dont care about. But then they somehow lock you into a backstab from the front, I dont know if it's lag or what, and I dont care what anybody says, there is no fairness in that. Imagine if regular enemies could just back stab you from the front, no parry or anything. So I kind of lost my zest for PvP for a while. In normal PvP, it's incredibly fun and engaging, win or lose. That cheap stuff just takes all the fun out it.

Yeah I watched a video about the 180 turn thing, pretty cheap. Dying in the right place, it seems like something odd to say but it's true, being able to recover is vital.

I know this will sound funny, but I finally beat the last boss and went on to new game plus. I had been putting it off for a while, but now the deed is done. Soloed him. Died the first try. Beat him the second try. He isnt too bad at level 110, but he doesnt like to let you heal.

Having fun already in my new game plus.  :)

Nice well done. I'm still at the burg bonfire! I had to go back and grind some souls just to boost faith for the basic heal miracle requiring faith 12 (8 start on pyro) just one of those things. I've out grown this bonfire long ago, got the drake sword but I'm saving it, time to step up now. Just getting the time to play is difficult right now. I think I've used the drake sword on two enemies just to test it but I'm saving it!

Starting to learn to fight better as well with different techniques and weapons, amazing how they are all so different and require different tactics!

Spears/halberd fricking rock though!

What level are you know Prism? I just made new character if you ever want some co op help sometime. I am at level 15 right now, but I am going to keep my level low to help out another friend.

Why are you saving the Drake Sword now? I hate the thing personally, because it fights like a broadsword, but it gets outdated pretty fast if you begin to upgrade your stats and weapons. It's useful to start, not so much later. It has no stat scaling, and it doesnt seem to hit as hard as its attack power reflects.

Spears are good in PvE but not so much PvP. Just be careful to keep an eye on your stamina!

Saving it for the Bell Gargoyles, but mainly just saving to avoid breakage, I have a repair box so shouldn't really matter. I think I'm @ 29, four levels just to put into faith lol it's done now. If I had have known sooner it would have been lesser req levels. Im getting like 5-10mins playtime which sucks, hopefully tonight I'll find time to ring that first bell! I have a ton of titanite as well so I should start using some of that.

I think this first few hours with the game have just been a big learning curve, dying to get things moving on but time has been an issue!

Oh and gotta love the bottomless box as well :)

Before the patch, you couldnt get the bottomless box until the depths. You kids have it so easy!

At the point you are at Prism, you could be considered a little overleveled, but that is not entirely accurate. Your equipment is more important at the stage you are in. I wouldnt sit on any titanite. You can always buy shards later. Better to use it and have a higher attack or defense. Also, if you have acquired the repairbox, weapon durability will only ever be an issue if you get hit with equipment corroding attacks. Regular use never puts much strain on a weapon with over 100 durability. You could use that drake sword for 5 hours straight and never need to repair it. Beyond that, weapons never break permanently (with the sole exception of crystal stuff). When they "break", they just become uselessly weak until you repair them.

Cool I think equipment is more important than all out soul level at least right now, doesn't hurt to get a little ahead so to speak. So I'll add using those t*ts. to the priority list, see what I did there! :)

You know what's stupid, I didn't even realize you could upgrade armor!
See that's what happens when the manual/game/guide(ok maybe the guide does I didn't know to look!) don't tell ya and everything is from scratch!!

Ok so here's where I am now, that first bell is done whoop!! talk about procrastination. Sitting on level 44 and thumping into stamina atm. Prowling Demon is gone and killed my first Black Knight<tough s.o.b.s., well relatively speaking. Continually learning more and more, especially about stamina/item discovery. I had 8 humanity in H form, and was at 198 discovery, died and lost one reversing hollow and went down to 192, interesting and something to watch out for.

So I'm gonna farm out the baldur set (have the leggings) from the sword/rapier dudes at the church as well as some titanite and then move on to the lower section. Capra Demon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I may need to call for some help if anyone of you fall in the range. We'll see what happens.

I think for sure I'll need help through either blightown/ sen's , I think I'm underestimating myself though, this game is not that hard!!!! :P

Oh and I've just hit the sweetspot with the game now, it feels like a personal journey sob! :'(

Game of 2011 for me.
Same for me. Hope you pick it up. If you do and want to do some co op or honorable PvP in NG+ let me know.

@Prism: You get 100 points of item discovery for being in human form. Then you get some points for every every point of humanity you have up to 10 humanity. The patch increased item discovery received from humanity overall. Best just to get the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring and be done with it though, but you cant get that until Sen's Fortress.

Sen's, by the way, is another beast entirely. It takes a completely different set of skills than what you will have used much so far. Dont want to give anything away though.

My closest character is between 80 and 90, but you will be that level in no time! :P  I make a good guide for blighttown, and have guided folks through it several times.

Cool, sen's seems like buuhh I dunno, a crazy place.  I'm gonna try the aural spell on the capra demon, I heard it works well to get rid of the dogs and get to the stairs. Some farming tonight for personal gain just for the sake, well I need it too and then hopefully boot his ass. Looking forward to the gaping dragon is he really that slow?
