Gears of War Triple Pack
« on: January 03, 2011, 11:37:50 AM »
Thought i'd start a seperate thread on this!

'Gears of War Ultimate' bundles first two games next month
Grab Gears of War 1 and 2 for just $29.99, out February 16

Gears of War Ultimate is a new compilation releasing in February that'll include Gears of War 1 and 2 in a single, ultra-cheap $29.99 package.

That's according to a GameStop rep who just told CVG that the bundle will be out on February 16. This comes after the unannounced compilation was listed on - and swiftly removed from - the GameStop website over the Christmas break.

The listing contained no information on the product other than a release of February 15 - a day earlier than the rep suggested, and the aforementioned price.

Microsoft had since confirmed the legitimacy of the listing to IGN, but refused to offer any further details except that it will "not involve Gears of War 3 or the beta", and that the 'Ultimate' title may not be final.

The rep couldn't confirm whether or not the compilation would include all the downloadable content for the game, or any other new features outside the inclusion of the two games.

Still, two of the best games on Xbox for 30 bucks - bargain.

Just seen this too, wouldn't be surprised if it was fake but worth a read nonetheless.

MICROSOFT RESPONDS TO GEARS ULTIMATE USING KINECT RUMOR

Yesterday we posted a story in reference to the Gears of War Ultimate bundle possibly using Kinect, which we had still classified as a rumor.  While there had been no official word at that point, it was a rumor that was swirling around the internet and was starting to make a ton of sense.

Earlier this morning, Microsoft sent an e-mail over our way debunking the rumor completely.  While we'll keep the name of the employee confidential, we'll post a snippet of what they had to say in the e-mail.

"A clarification In response to your recent article: Microsoft will release a Gears of War bundle this spring. It will be a collection of the first two Gears of War games and a token to download all previously released Gears of War 2 add-ons via Xbox LIVE. It will not include any new or additional features, such as Kinect support."

There you have it ladies & gentleman, Kinect will officially NOT be involved in the Gears of War ultimate package.  It's nice to see that Microsoft has come out and at least stated what will be involved in Gears of War Ultimate as well.

Gears of War Triple Pack announced
Microsoft and Epic unveil new Gears bundle for Xbox 360

Microsoft and Epic have officially announced the previously rumoured Gears of War Triple Pack.

Set for release on February 15 for $29.99 in the US, the pack will bundle the first two Gears of War games and Gears 2's Road to Ruin campaign. We'll add a UK release date when we get it.

On top of that, it boasts a total of 38 multiplayer maps spread across both titles. It doesn't include Gears of War Map Pack 1 or the Hidden Fronts Map Pack, but both can be downloaded freely on Xbox Live, Destructoid reports.

Unlike Epic's other game launching next month, the People Can Fly developed Bulletstorm, the Gears Triple Pack won't include access to the Gears 3 multiplayer beta.

Is it all on one disc?

and that's not really a Triple Bundle.

I'm all for waiting for price drops, but now it seems a shame I didn't wait 6 years for this... #)

Though, from the perspective of someone who hasn't experienced the series, I can see the value.
