Can't wait for Shenmue 3

I hate jokes that rely on visual imagery.

I've had it right up to here with them.

i know it'll have a 16gb internal flash memory which can be extended to 32gb via a M2 Micro Memory Stick.

from CVG:

Because the PSP Go does not feature a UMD drive, games are downloaded from the PlayStation Store. While other PSP models have included the ability to run games and demos downloaded from the PlayStation Store, the PSP Go is the first for which this is the only means of distribution. Currently there are three ways to access the PlayStation Store. The PSP Go can directly download to itself, or users can also download then transfer the games from a PlayStation 3 or the Media Go software on Windows based computers. All current downloadable PSP and PlayStation games available for older PSP models will be compatible with the PSP Go. Sony has also confirmed that all UMD based PSP games released after October 1, 2009 will be available for download, and a majority of older UMD-only games will also be downloadable at that time.

It's good you can download off your PC.

I thought they might have had download pods in Gamestation or something.

If / when this happens, I may pick one up.  The only real enjoyment I get from my DS is the homebrew and emulation capabilities.

Piracy Protection is Why PSPgo's Battery Isn't Removable

In reconfiguring their portable, Sony paid attention. Pandora's Battery made modding the PSP firmware, and thus software piracy, very easy. SCEA's John Koller said the PSPgo's battery was made internal-only for just that reason.

"You won't be able to rip your games and play them on the [PSPgo] system, the firmware precludes that," Koller told PlayStation Insider. "There's no external battery, so there's a number of protections put into place on the system."

The drawback? When that battery starts to go, you can't swap it yourself. Back it goes to Sony for replacement, at a fee if it's out of warranty.

It won't be long before someone works it out

Precisely.  If a human can put something together, a human can take it apart.  That's just something tech companies need to accept.

In related news, I did buy a Pandora batter for my recently aquired PSP, mostly because it was cheaper than a Sony-brand battery.

UK Retailer Declares PSPGo 'Almost' Dead Before Arrival

While not joining a broader boycott among some European retailers, ShopTo's comments in advance of the PSPGo's launch do not exactly encourage sales. "As a format it is almost dead before it has arrived," the ShopTo boss told Eurogamer.

Again, the gripe isn't so much about the new handheld's cost - $250 in the U.S. - as it is the format switch from UMD to download only. It effectively robs these retailers of the margins they reap on game sales. ShopTo's pissed enough that it's grudgingly selling the device without any real push to its customers. "We do have it listed on the site, but we are not concentrating any big marketing behind it," ShopTo chief Igor Cipolletta told Eurogamer.

Sony has decided to cut publishers and retailers for the software of the PSPgo and deal direct with developers, giving them a 70 per cent margin for any items sold on Sony PSN. I believe if they had lowered that to 50 or 60 per cent, and given the opportunity to online retailers, it would have enjoyed greater success and retailers would attempt to promote the console to the market.

Everybody's Favorite Analyst, Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan, thinks those who boycott selling the PSPGo, or publicly support such an action, are behaving self-destructively. "Refusing to carry them subjects them to the risk that Sony will bypass them for Gran Turismo or Uncharted, in which case they lose," he said. "Retailers have to face the fact that games will be increasingly offered over Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, and cope with the outcome."
