quick question
« on: August 02, 2009, 09:16:33 AM »
is anyone else having trouble getting into public matches in gears 2? for some reason when i search for matches, it never gets past the searching part. ive joined friends private matches, but i cant get into public ones. the only thing i can think of is maybe it has something to do with my connection. i switched to DSL, but i havent heard any complaints about lag when i join games. could it be firewall issues? and if it is a firewall issue, how would i go about correcting it?

it's been the opposite for me, i've been getting into matches pretty quickly, a while ago though i'd be waiting ages to play.

Could have something to do with the new download. I have not had any trouble getting into Horde matches.

I used to get Strict NAT quite a lot, one trick that worked everytime would be to just unplug the router (BT Hub in my case) leave it for a couple of minutes then plug it back in & i always got an open NAT.

Then i moved the Hub & put the my ethernet cable into a different port & i've never had a Strict NAT since.

thanks for the tips. the modem the isp sent me was old i think. i bought a new modem/router combo and got rid of the strict setting so maybe that'll help me find games.
