Title: Obituaries
Post by: dfusioness on May 02, 2011, 09:02:31 AM
as previously mentioned by windy, can a mod merge all obits to here , thanx xx

Slightly depressing. I think we could have the odd 'single thread' about Famous people, but maybe not every single person that dies ....

If the demand for an actual obituary on a gaming forum is high, i can't see why we can't do one though.

There is an awful lot of 'RIP' topics cluttering the forum.  I'll drop them all in here later today, if only for the purpose of cleaning up the forum.

Just have one or as Failed said none, can we vote on it? if im dead does my vote still count? or does my count vote? :-X

On 2nd thought, I see how having a designated Obituary topic will get pretty depressing.  By this time next year, there will probably be dozens of pages of nothing but the news of people dying.

No disrespect to the dead, but that's probably a dark cloud a little too heavy for a gaming community.  Everyone is still welcome to post new topics for notable passings in the 'Odds & Ends' board, or related topics (ex. actors deaths in Movie News).  I'll leave that up to your own discretion.  But collecting dozens of pages about death is probably a bad idea in the long run.   :(

It's a good idea, fizz.  Just not for this site.

Just one thread title RIP and thats it.It would be kinda depressing alright, and notables only.No Bernie from down the road went onto the roof to get her cat, slipped and fell into the pool and drowned.

No Master Thread topic, sorry Windy and fizz. We discussed it on the Mod Forum (suprisingly maturely >_< ) and decided although the odd thread is fine, a stickied Master Thread is too much.

(see neato's above thread ;oP )

okay, fair enough, though i did mean just for famous people, not everyone lol, just thought it was a good idea to tidy things up, but thinkin about it, it would be depressing, sorry x

If it's a movie star we can post it in the movie news thread, sports star then put it in the football thread, musician then our soundtrack thread, the Queen then either the jokes thread or the about damn time thread :-) etc.  Saves cluttering the boards.

Thats eh kinda what I meant lol in the odds and ends just one single lone thread! :P
Title: Re: Obituaries
Post by: Failed on May 03, 2011, 05:21:54 AM
It's already been decided theres not going to be a Master Thread for these.

You should also refrain from posting unless you think it's debate worthy (Osama) or Gaming Related (ex.Hideo Kojima) but not if it's just gonna accrue a dozen 'RIP' replies.

it's my fault for thinking that ted lowes death was something people might want to know, obviously no snooker fans. I say just get rid of the odds and ends thread entirely or re name it, at the moment it sounds like you can post anything non game related if this isn't the case it needs changing. just a thought.

You seem to be causing a much bigger disturbance to the population than Failed, especially considering you misinterpret 1/2 of what he says, and usually assume the worst.

Personally, I think Failed does a great job.  And until someone convinces me otherwise, he'll remain a mod.  Posting random snarky remarks on every topic only convinces me that you care more about proving some ill-conceived point than actually communicating like an adult.

not gonna happen, and as long as you have a child thinking he's calling the shots, i will never return , just want to say goodbye to all my friends, those who still want to speak to me on xbl, see you there, clearly im not allowed to be upset at the fact that posting about stuff is now subject to clearance, thanx for all the fun , just sorry its had to end like this xx

That is completely in your own perception.  Again, you are far too quick to misinterpret and assume the worst.  This is not the first time.

I know that's intended to be a dig at me, but I'm not offended.  I know why she left, and the irony of this situation and your comment is amusing.

Title: Re: Obituaries
Post by: Jaynestown on May 15, 2011, 06:17:15 AM
Yes. Basically we got Pepe 4 years ago and were told he couldn't live with other guinea pigs, but after having him for around 6 months we realised that he actually craved company so we took him to a rescue and he "chose" Leo out of a group of 3 baby guinea pigs and they lived happily together for 3 and a half years before Leo died on Wednesday. I guess he just couldn't cope without him and just gave up as he showed no symptoms of the illness that Leo had been fighting for two months.   :(
