Split/Second has been given a release date and new name.
Subtitled Velocity, the title will be released in Europe on May 21, according to MCV.
Set within a fictional television show, the player must accumulate power-ups through drifts and jumps, which can then be activated to collapse parts of the track and open up new routes.
The title was awarded the Best Racing Game by critics at E3 2009, and was dubbed "our surprise of the show" at the Eurogamer Expo last year.
Split/Second: Velocity will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
Burnout with Weapons, sounds fun!

Demo is on Live. Wasn't too impressed, car didn't seem to handle very well. Might give it another blast, for a second opinion.
Anyone get this game yet? It gets positivie reviews on Amazon, I noticed some reveiwers said the game was much better than the demo.

Black Rock wants Split/Second feedback
Brighton developer Black Rock Studios has called on gamers to give it feedback on racer Split/Second: Velocity.
It's launched an online survey it hopes will help shape downloadable content and future titles.
On Monday Black Rock Studios' Facebook page revealed plans to release four downloadable content packs for Split/Second, including a new environment.
The first three will be vehicle-orientated and are due "in the next couple of weeks".
Finally, Black Rock will release a "major DLC pack featuring a new environment" for the game in September.
Yesterday Black Rock released a Split/Second title update, which grants the ability to filter lobbies dependant on car class – a change based on feedback garnered from forums and Facebook.
Split/Second: Velocity came out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in May.
