I think I'll start a thread for all of the big Steam sales as I find them.
This week (March 25th): Midweek Madness - 50% off Left 4 Dead 2.
I'd buy it if I didn't hate L4D so much.
Sweet.
I'll keep my eye on this topic for some Games for Windows Live titles. ;D
ps. I just got reaquainted with GOG.com (http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/). What a fantastic service!

I love me some www.gog.com. It is great for whenever I get wispy and want to play one of those old PC titles that I've long since lost the disc for. Or for those games that use floppies, as I don't have a floppy drive anymore.
Thanks Handshakes
gog.com looks awesome. I may have to download Gabriel Knight 1 & 2 and do some reminiscing.

Yeah, I guess I was being a bit harsh. Borderlands left a $50 hole in my wallet, so I'm a bit burned up over it still.

Ha!
ps. I love Borderlands. :P But largely due to my natural compulsion to collect things. I love exploring and looting, which basically makes up 80% of the game. ;)
Commando series is a whole bunch% off this week.
For those of you not in the know, Commandos is a tactical squad/stealth based strategy game. Think Metal Gear, only from an RTS perspective and you have to keep track of 3-6 guys on your team at a time. And about 1000000000000% harder and more frustrating.
I believe that they also made a highly forgettable FPS off of the franchise a few years back. What a silly idea, making an FPS out of a series that has nothing to do with that genre (http://360fahrenheit.com/fahrenh1_forum1/index.php?topic=1247.msg29637#new).
Pretty damn skippable IMO, but for $5 it could be good for a laugh.

Okay, this week we have a Dawn of War 2 + Expansion 50% off sale. $15! I hear the singleplayer is worth it alone, and while I haven't played the multiplayer since the beta, I can tell you that at the time it struck me as being very unique and fun.
Also, all Halflife2 related stuff (the game, or orange box package) are 30% off at the moment.
Battlefield 2 and all expansions for 50% off ($15).
Bad Company 2 for 33% off ($33.49).
I'm not sure what the community looks like for BF2 anymore, but I can say that it is my favorite game in the series by a mile.

Is anyone else having trouble logging into Steam?
I was logged in, add some games to my cart, tried purchase, then the whole system kicked me out. Now when I try to login it says my password is incorrect.
I even reset my password and it's still telling me my password is incorrect. I think the sale traffic fried their system. >:(

I think I figured out the problem.
I was trying to buy Dirt 2, was $40 now $10. It looks like they removed the sale price while I was trying to buy it. That somehow kicked me out of Steam and wouldn't let me log back in for some reason.
I finally logged in, removed Dirt 2 from my cart, and now everthing work. I ended up buying Fuel and FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage. Both GFWL games (achievements) and under $7. Cheaper than buying the Xbox 360 versions used at GameStop. ;D

How bad is my game addiction when I buy some game I've never heard of, The Void, just because it is on sale for $5?
I looked up a review and it mentioned that the game is chalk full of naked ladies. Have these Russian developers finally managed to combine my two favorite pastimes into one magical super drug of a game?
I almost hope not.

Indeed.
The MYST sequel, Riven, which goes out of its way to ride off of the name and success of its predecessors so hard that the full name of the game is actually Riven: The Sequel to MYST (I'm not making this up), is now $4.99 (usually $5.99).
Also, Gratuitous Space Battles (http://www.positech.co.uk/gratuitousspacebattles/) (review link (http://www.destructoid.com/review-gratuitous-space-battles-157830.phtml)) and all of its expansions are now 75% off. You can get the full pack for $6.24, usually $24.99. Brit company. Support 'em.
One of my girlfriends in high school played Myst religiously.
Ironically, I made fun of her for being a game nerd. This of course was during my "I'm too mature for videogames" phase. That was quickly abrupted during college thanks to late night Halo/Dead or Alive rivalries. ;D
In honor of this year's Quakecon all ID Software products are ridiculously cheap on Steam. I'd take advantage of it, but I already own all of ID's library.
Also, ID's parent company Zenimax is having sales for some of its more popular games like Oblivion.
66% off Borderlands and all of its DLC. That is $10 bucks for the full game.
... I still wouldn't like it.
Don't hate. ;)
I like Borderlands enough, if it was a GFWL title I'd buy it on PC as well.
You can now get all of the Stalker games in a bundle for around $10.
I have the first one, and it wasn't my cup of tea. That said, I know a lot of people who swear by the series.
Not a "Steam" sale, but a good sale for PC from EA.

SPORE Creepy & Cute Parts Pack - $13.37
SPORE Galactic Adventures - $20.07

Good find, Neato. I might pick up Dead Space. Too bad I already picked up Spore last year. Too bad in the sense that I payed almost full price for it and it sucks.

I found the offer in the US store. It may be available in the UK store, but the EA site won't let me see the UK site.
This week's Games for Windows Live Deal of the Week sees the indie hit Osmos (PC) taking a massive hit in price, being reduced a whole 75% from its original price of $10 (800 MSP) to only $2.50 (200 MSP). However, as with all GFWL games, pricing can vary from region to region, so boot up the GFWL client and see how much it'll run you.
The deal will run from today, November 11th, to next Wednesday, November 17th.
I highly recommend everyone BUY THIS!!! as it's amazing

I just found out the GFW site got an update along with xbox.com. Surprisingly, the GFW site looks and functions BETTER than xbox.com. :-\
In celebration of the update, GFW has a daily deal each day this week in addition to the usualy Deal of the Week. The site forces me into the US site, so I can't be sure if this also applies to the UK. Someone take a look and let me know.

The holidays are just around the corner, and Blizzard Entertainment is doing their part to keep everyone jolly this season. They're selling the original World of Warcraft game for just $5 (reg $19.99). Plus, both expansions are on sale too. You can get The Burning Crusade expansion for an extra $5 (reg. $29.99), and the newest expansion, The Wrath of the Lich King, for only $10 (reg $39.99). With the Cataclysm expansion just two weeks away, this is the perfect time to pick up all of the World of Warcraft games for incredibly low prices.
If you're looking to try the game out for the first time, or renew your account for Cataclysm and have maybe misplaced some discs along the years, you don't have much to lose with this deal. You can also buy digital copies of each game/expansion for the same prices. Check out the Blizzard Store (http://us.blizzard.com/store/browse.xml?f=c:1,f:1) for all the deals.
I might get this, i'm looking into PC gaming as when my daughter is about she conviscates the TV to watch The Wiggles ...
I hate MMO's but i have a few hours every night where all i have is the lappy, so i could just piddle about scrounging in Warcraft or maybe hit some GFWL games for added achieves!
For obvious reasons, I'm considering playing the upcoming DC Universe MMO.
I'm also slightly intrigued at what I've seen of Guild Wars 2.
I have absolutely no interest in WoW. :P
Crazy PC deals on Steam this week, including incredibly cheap gift packs of games.
I think that I'll probably buy a gift pack and give the games out to a couple of my buds on Steam and my brother, and the leftover can go to anybody here who wants them.
Which gift pack? Well, I'm not sure yet. It all depends on what strikes my fancy. Knowing my taste in gaming though, it might be a pack of something old and classic. For instance, I almost pulled the trigger on the Deus Ex gift pack yesterday. Deus Ex is considered to be one of the better games of all time, even if it is pushing a decade. But still, it is old and I realize that not everybody can get into it.
It also depends on my shallow wallet. I probably won't throw down more than $30 for one of these gift packs (Deus Ex was $12, for instance).
... And probably it will also have to be a game that I don't already own. A fellow still has to think about himself you know. I'd be severely tempted if Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines came up for sale, just because I want each and every person on the planet to play what I think is the best game ever made... But the last time I bought it for somebody they never bothered playing it because they couldn't get it to work right out of the box (it is buggy and takes some *small* amount of effort to get working), so I don't know if I'll do that again.
Oh yeah, and there is also a big sale at the ubisoft store (http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubina/en_US/home/ThemeID.8605600/ccRef.en_IE). %50 off daily deals, today R.U.S.E. for $25 (R.U.S.E. is a rather unique WW2 rts for the PC).
Highlights of the Steam sale for Thursday were:
Batman: Arkham Asylum for $10
Kane and Lynch 2 for $5
A bunch of indie adventure games for $5 (was $60)
I was tempted to pick up Kane and Lynch 2.
The game packs were:
$15 for 10 Defense Grid: The Awakening
$20 for 12 AudioSurf
$25 for 6 Left 4 Dead 2
$35 for 10 Puzzle Quest 2
Nothing here is really turning me on. I briefly considered AudioSurf. And then I didn't.
If Killing Floor (http://www.killingfloorthegame.com/) game packs go on sale, you can all pretty much consider yourselves proud new owners of that game. I don't care how much the pack costs, I love me some Killing Floor and you should too.
I'm not familiar with how sharing on Steam works, but if you find a good deal on a bundle pack, I'll go 50/50 with ya via PayPal.
Well, so far nothing is really striking my fancy. The sales go on until the 29th and if nothing jumps out at me by then I'll just buy a pack of the best thing they have on sale for that day, whatever that may be.
I'm still hoping for some Killing Floor.
I'll decide tonight, but probably either World of Goo or Trine.

Yeah, about that... See, I had this Calc 3 exam this morning, and when I got home from school last night all I did was study for the exam and blow off some steam by watching a Netflix romantic comedy... And I kind of forgot about picking up the pack of World of Goo... Soz mates!
Okay, this time I super promise that if another reasonably priced multipack of games comes around before Xmas I'll pick it up for the team. Hopefully the selection will be better, but I'll jump on whatever presents itself first.
I'm in no hurry. I probably won't be playing much until the Spring anyway. Just let me know if you find a good deal and I'll throw some PayPal your way. :)

Continuing the GFWL sale, today is Max Payne 2 for a dollar (which I just bought).
Anyone get the impression that GFWL is one of those things that Microsoft decided to do just for the sake of fulfilling their pathological need to compete, however badly, in every realm of technology? It is so ramshackle and featureless, but they just couldn't let Steam have all the fun.
I agree, but they do have the odd good deal ... like Age of Empires 3 Collection for 10p/c

Earlier this week I got Star Wars KOTOR for $2.50. It's probably not as good as I remember, but I do want to play it again at some point, and the original Xbox version still costs well over $10 if you're lucky enough to find a copy.

The PC version of KOTOR is a buggy mess, I'm afraid. The good news is, if it even works for you at all then you probably home free.

Thanks for the heads-up. Worst-case I'm out $2.50. Oh well ... consider it a donation to steam/bioware and whoever else has their hand in it. ;)
Ain't a video game company more deserving of donations than Bioware ;D
By the way, don't buy BRaid from the Xbox marketplace. Drop into Game and pick up the PC version for 99p instead. I forgot to grab it on the way to the counter today, I am kicking myself for this oversight.

This is one of my favorite games of all time. BUY IT AND THANK ME LATER!
Also, Bloodlines makes you work a bit to enjoy it. Go here (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2025035) and do everything it says. The important part is installing the unofficial patch, as the game is super buggy without the community patches.
Trust me, it is worth it. This is the best rpg you will ever play.
I bought it before I posted. Thanks for the info.

If you want a nostalgia injection into your Steam, the Genesis / Dreamcast bundles are a super value.
AvP is only $5.
There's also a few GFWL titles (The Club, Virtua Tennis 4, Universe at War).

HERE (http://forums.xbox.com/gfw/general/f/259/t/23247.aspx) is a list of current & future GFWL titles. With the exception of some "arcade" games (World of Goo, Where's Waldo, etc.), the retail games available on Steam are GFWL.
There is no way that I know of to search for GFWL titles in Steam. You have to just know what game you're looking for. In the descriptions of most (not all), Steam specifies GFWL.
