Title: My PC just died and I'm not happy
Post by: bobbus74 on April 18, 2010, 10:08:38 PM
My PC just died on me and I'm not happy. I think and hope it's just the PSU but not sure yet. it just cut out on me and has no power at all. Quad core CPU, geforce 9600 gfx card, 3gb RAM, 1.75TB HDD sitting there doing nothing. It's not even that old, I bought it 18 months ago. I'm pretty pissed off at the moment and just needed to share my frustration. Sorry.

Yea sounds like a PSU problem, sucks man feel for you, at least out of everything that can go wrong, PSU's are the cheapest and easiest to repair.

Sorry to hear that fella, I know nothing about PC's and all stuff like that so I hope you can fix it easily!!
Maibs is quite an informed chap so I would take solace in what he says.

I'm gonna put an old PSU inside just to see if I get any results. That way I should know if it's definitely the PSU. I'll probably buy a 750/800 watt PSU to give me a bit more juice for upgrading in the future. Anyway, hope that's all the problem is, I'll let you know when I finally fix it...

Finally got my PC back up and running today, it was indeed the PSU. I think the previous one was working too hard as it was only 260watts powering a quad core processor and GForce 9600. I purchased a nice shiny 800 watt baby to ensure I have enough juice flowing through my poor little rig. Bought it from scan.co.uk, really good site for PC parts, definitely recommend them. http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/800W-EZCool-Infinity-PSU-Dual-Quad-Core-SLI-SATA-24V-Dual-12v-Intel-v22-120mm-Fan
Anyway, just glad to be back up and running again so I had to share it!

Been going to scan for about 6 or 7 years now, maybe more, it's near The Reebok if anyone is interested, a friend of mine gets discount off everything there and builds PC's for a living, great shop & site.
