Sims 3 arriving on all major consoles
EA has announced that those little sims are packing their bags, and will be moving onto a console near you in the Autumn.
Although hopefully they won't set your console on fire, as they seem to regularly do with the pixel houses they inhabit (at least when we watch our other half playing the game, anyway).
The Sims 3 will grace the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii consoles, along with the Nintendo DS handheld. Previously, it has been a PC exclusive, and indeed was the best-selling PC game in 2009.
The game will comprise of the same core life management experience, with characters to look after and fulfil – or to frustrate, if you prefer taunting little pixellated people.
Although some new features will be introduced on the consoles, apparently to make it easier to mess with the lives of your subjects. (Read: Console players are impatient so let's give them more instant gratification).
"We're bringing players the best console and handheld game for The Sims franchise to date and are excited to offer a unique experience for all types of gamers on their platform of choice," commented Sam Player, Executive Producer at EA.
"Building on the unique traits system, living open neighbourhood, lifetime wishes, and endless customization options, we've tailored each platform of The Sims 3 with exclusive features to allow for even more control, creativity, and connectivity."
So called "karma powers" will let you grant your sim an injection of luck, or perhaps instant beauty. However, as they're karmic, these effects may return later in the game to bite back (the super-botox will wear off, and overnight the sim's face will slacken to resemble an elephant's unmentionables).
On the PS3 and Xbox, EA is touting the fact that The Sims 3 will have a slick, integrated exchange system, so players can easily share creations and content (and achievements on Facebook).
More impressively, the Wii version gets a new beach town, a collection of adventure quests, and a "Life Moments" mini-game which can be played head-to-head with a friend.
Nintendo DS owners will be able to get really creative, using the stylus to draw walls and floors, and generally design their sim's house, or sculpt their character's facial features.
The X360 and PS3 extras certainly seem a bit lame in comparison to what Nintendo owners are getting here.
AVOID ;D

Not asking for much are you? :D
The Sims sucks billy big balls and it will never rear it's ugly crappy head on my 360.
the sims is awesome. you can go on your rant as much as you like but then you will suck at it anyway. you won't be able to get a job he he he ;)
I played the Sims on Xbox or PS2 several years ago. It was my only experience with the franchise.
I didn't really like the game, but I found myself obsessively playing it for hours upon hours. The game is a curse to anyone with compulsive habits. I do not think I'm going to temp myself with Sims 3. :-\

Not a rant, just facts, sh*t game.
I also can't suck at a game that i'll never, ever, ever play, also a fact. :)
Just because you don't like it that doesn't automatically make it crap it just means it isn't to your taste.
I really don't like world of warcraft but something ridiculous like 12 million people love it.
Sims is a good game. Used to love the original. :)
Will get this one when it comes out. Play some co-op eh T-J?

I played the first game & didn't like it, so for me, it's crap, makes perfect sense really. :)

crak is so wrong btw
crak is SILLLLYYYYYYY ;D
Looks like i'm in the minority again on this one, just like how I thought the PS2 was a crap console, I like being a minority, I am ginger afterall. ;D
I played the Sims on the PC years ago and enjoyed the house creation aspect of it, but I don't like games without an end, so the game itself was a bit tedious.

think of the cheeves my friend. :)
I'm not score whoring at the moment, I'm playing games I like or want to finish rather than ones just to get the achievements. I'm sure that'll change back in time.

With you on this one mate. sh*t is an understatement. Two of my exes have loved the games. When I audition for the next one I'm gonna make sure she shares my hatred of the game.
Sims is an aweful game, i'll never play this even if it has Avatar-esque achievements
Good to know that others share my opinions on this crap franchise. ;D
Achievements (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/the-sims-3/achievements/)
i like the sims-sorry x
I played The Sims and The Sims 2 on my PC and enjoyed them. I thought about The Sims 3, but decided to shell out the money for my 360 Slim instead of buying a new computer that would run the darn thing. I might not get this as soon as it comes out because I am getting Fallout: New Vegas next week, but I think I will let my sister and her husband know that I want this for Christmas. ;D
the sims is awesome, nuff said.
I'd rather blow my own brains out Full Metal Jacket style than play any of these crappy games. ;D
By re-reading through this thread would it safe to assume that this game may interest the female gamer more than a male one?
I'm after a game that I my missus can play bearing in mind that all she wanted to do in AC:Brotherhood was ride the horse around and use up all my parachutes?!?
yes, the only way you could possibly lke The Sims is if your of the female persuasion.

If you managed to have Sims 3 at the top of your 'recent played' list, that would have been epic.
On a serious note, I was a quasi-fan of the Sims (2?) on the original Xbox. However, once I realized there was no clear conclusion to the game, I couldn't get myself to play it anymore. The same reason I stopped playing WoW.
My 2 sisters actually asked for the Sims 3 for Christmas, so I bought it for each of them. However, they quickly returned it when they realized they couldn't play it together online. Xbox Live has spoiled them. ;D

See, 2 girlies who both want Sims 3... no shock, except maybe it's neato's sisters who scare me with their mean-ass skillz at L4D and Halo
