Microsoft reaches milestone in Japanese hardware sales
The Japanese chart is still topped by the DSi however
The Japanese hardware chart was dominated again this week by Nintendo's DSi LL (surely everyone has a DS by now).
The portable powerhouse was given a boost in sales last week thanks to some new colours for the LL and continues to benefit from the new paint job.
Microsoft's Xbox 360 dropped down to 7,303, last week's big release, Monster Hunter Frontier, pushed sales to an impressive 17,370. The 360 also managed to achieve the 100,000 units sold milestone this year, undoubtedly helped on by Capcom's wildly popular hunting game.
Here's the break down for June 21-27:
1. DSi LL - 32,661
2. PSP - 24,685
3. Wii - 21,964
4. PS3 - 20,077
5. DSi - 18,271
6. Xbox 360 - 7,303
7. DS Lite - 5,339
8. PS2 - 1,594
9. PSP go - 1,024
Year-to-date Japanese hardware sales:
1. DS - 1,180,325
2. PSP - 1,101,666
3. Wii - 818,945
4. PS3 - 756,325
5. Xbox 360 - 105,969
6. PS2 - 45,372
It's all down to Monster Hunter, hopefully it'll be released over here too.
