In an (update: now online) interview with trade magazine MCV, Phil Spencer has said that Project Natal is just one of several planned hardware innovations that could replace the need for a next-generation Xbox 360.
When talking about Natal, he states, "It's not about trying to sell consumers a new piece of hardware at the wrong time, it's about evolving the platform continuously. And we are going to find things, like Natal, that are hardware related to also do that."
Could this mean that Microsoft has another peripheral in the works? It's pure speculation at the moment, but Microsoft has always spent big on research and development so there's doubtless more stuff in the labs it can bring out.
This is where loads of threads appear on various sites saying that Microsoft are gonna stick a blu-ray drive on future consoles.
They're trying to make it, that the 360 lasts until 2015 before they release a newer console. Playstation 6 will be out by then, the money grubbers :P
The playstation 6 retailing at £1,999.

Xbox 360's Project Natal motion cam will be out "late next year", according to THQ boss Brian Farrell.
The claim came from a THQ earnings call last night, where Farrell - who we're assuming knows what he's talking about, considering he's making games for the thing - said we'll have the 360 motion peripheral in time for next Christmas.
Officially Microsoft's not said anything about Natal's launch date, though top man Steve Balmer blabbed that we'll be seeing it sometime next year, before withdrawing his comments.
Speaking at E3 last month, Xbox strategy man Shane Kim claimed Natal's launch will be as big as Xbox 360's. "Conceptually, the launch of Natal will be like the launch of Xbox 360," he said. "It's going to be that big. We're not just going to ship it when the hardware and software are ready."
