Title: Wednesday Theme Night - Arcade Games (August 4th)
Post by: Failed on July 31, 2010, 09:40:40 AM
Who fancies some Arcade folly, i'm not too sure what everyone owns so i'll just post all my competitive arcade games to start the ball rolling. Some acronyms may be involved :P

South Park, Bomberman,  Zombie Apocalypse, Age of Booty, Qix++, Castle Crashers, MvC2, SSF2THD, MTG, Battlefield 1943, Peggle, both Worms, Uno, Soulcalibur, Doom, Texas hold'em, Marble Blast Ultra.

Out of those i'd be really keen to play Bomberman, MvC2, Peggle, Worms 2 or Marble Blast.

We could play an hour of one game and then an hour of another.

Doom for me, we could probably blag the online kills achievement at the same time, though the last time I played it online it was a massive lag fest.

I've only got Battlefield 1943, South Park, Zombie Apocalypse and Peggle from the rest.

Doom was good for me last time i played it online, but the guy i played was super good, i got 2 kills he got 3million or something similar

i like Peggle but i think it's only 4P

peggle or doom or texas hold em would be good. If there are too many we could possibly set up two games.

August 4th is when Castlevania: Harmony of Despair comes out. How about we all buy it and play the hell out of it? I'd be up for it.

Out of principle, I refuse to pay full price for XBLA games.  I'll wait for it to either go on sale, or trade for a download code on CheapAssGamer.com

Same reason I haven't bought LIMBO yet.  Fantastic game!

You're telling me that with that huge list of arcade games you own, 80% of them being unplayable poop, you suddenly are a conscious consumer? Blah.

Does anybody still play Castle Crashers? I'd be willing to buy that if somebody else wanted to put some hours into it with me.

No way.  I buy all kinds of useless crap.

My principle is the monopoly of digital ownership.  When I buy a disc, I can sell it, trade it, break it.  When I buy a license, I'm stuck with it for life.  So I seize every opportunity to take advantage of rare moments the monopoly gives a little.  I buy `em not really because I really want.  I sort of buy them just so I go to bed thinking I beat the system in my own little lame way.

It's a compulsion probably.  Pavlov's dog or something.

OH!  Idea!  Next Wednesday's theme can be 'Game You Hate' night.  We all vote for the least popular game that the majority owns.  And we can complain about it the entire night.  Awesome.   :D

I'm on board.  I actually bought it because Slamurai made me.  He's looooooves the game.

If you ever want to just goof around in the game, regardless of achievements, he's the man to invite.

If you want to whore some cheevos, I'm your man.   ;D  I have a high-level blue knight, but I think I'm supposed to level them all up for cheevos.  I'll create a Castle Crashers thread in the Co-Op board.

So Doom, Peggle or maybe Battlefield 1943 seem the most popularist.

so we'll play somethign from 10-11 and then something from 11-12.... unless people want earlier times.

I have the full 200G on battlefield 1943, but if ya need another player i will play for laughs. We will prob have to go public as you need like a million players or something for private matches. Maybe after battlefield we could play a little doom or peggle if there is time.

Any takers to host Doom or Peggle?

Alternatively, there were a lot of people interested in Castle Crashers in the Co-Op topic (http://360fahrenheit.com/fahrenh1_forum1/index.php?topic=1524.0).  If someone didn't want to play Battlefield and would rather play Castle Crashers, you're more than welcome to host it.   :)  Just post it here so everyone knows to look for you online.

After my Battlefield 1943 session is over, I'll jump into Castle Crashers if there's room.  If not, I'll host a Castle Crashers session and anyone left over after playing Battlefield/Doom/Peggle can join in (if you're still awake).   ;D

And it was pretty fun!  What with being on the other team from everyone else and all.

I played around in the menus for a while to figure out why it kept separating us.  I'm pretty sure it has to do with the "Squad" feature.  It's definitely not user-friendly, but I think if we all make sure we're in the same "Squad" before entering the game, it will keep us on the same team.

We'll try again.  Great fun tonight everyone.  Thanks for the laughs.   ;D
