Title: Dedicated Halo section coming to Xbox Live
Post by: sambo on July 23, 2009, 09:02:10 PM
Microsoft will launch a 'Halo Waypoint' area on Xbox Live this autumn, which will debut the just-announced Halo Legends anime episodes and serve as a hub for dishing out Halo news to the fans.

The unspecified "destination" will "inform fans of the latest "Halo" news and activities, and grant access to content ranging from podcasts, trailers and screenshots, to exclusive video footage you won't find anywhere else."

It's also going to be the jumping-off point for in-game challenges, with a career system and player rankings. There will also, ominiously, be "out-of-game accomplishments". Maybe you've got to get your photo taken wearing a Master Chief Helmet in a public place.

Upcoming Xbox Live destination Halo Waypoint will be broken in two sections, one focusing on Intel and the other on Career.

Intel is the central point for all Halo content, according to Jason Pace, creative director. Here be videos, articles, fiction, screenshots, tips/tricks and more. There will be "exclusive content you won't be able to get anywhere else", such as the Halo Legends animated series, said Pace during a video presentation (caught by Joystiq).

Waypoint will offer new content "every day", some of which will come from the community as well as Microsoft.

Career is the part that tracks member progress across multiple Halo games which, at launch, will be Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Wars and all the associated DLC.

Career converts Achievements into an overall ranking and recognition system, which is broken into milestones and rewards. Milestones are based on total Halo gamerscore, whereas awards are given for groups of related Halo 3 Achievements. The Vehicle Specialist award is given for a earning a minimum number of vehicle-related Achievements, for instance - and will improve in tier as you earn more.

"Keep an eye on your career: we're just beginning with Waypoint and there's a lot more to come," concluded Pace.

Halo Waypoint will be added to the Games on Demand section of Xbox Live from 5th November - Bonfire Night. Silver members will have access for "a limited time after launch".

This is my biggest gripe about Gears. How do they manage to cheat?
I want to know so I can do it and get back at them.
GoW just sucks! >:(

From what I've seen on the xbox.com forums, the banhammer runneth over on Gears cheaters lately.  Even people that get matched into a public game where cheating is happening end up losing their ranks.  It's crazypants.  I refurse to play public Gears, only private with you guys.
