Walmart is taking pre-orders for a box set of popular Playstation 2 action games ICO and Shadow of the Colossus for the Playstation 3 for just under $40.
While Sony has yet to announce such a bundle, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida told IGN back in June (http://kotaku.com/5574141/looks-like-therell-be-more-ps2-games-released-in-hd-on-ps3) that they are "looking to continue to do these HD conversions" following in the footsteps of God of War and Sly collections for the PS3.
In the case of those games, the classic PS2 titles featured updated high definition graphics.
Kotaku have reached out to Sony for comment and will update if and when they hear something on this.
I will be buying this.

Around a million for Ico, bit more for Shadow of the Colossus. :)
Team ICO Collection "around £25"
The heavily rumoured ICO / Shadow of the Colossus high definition PlayStation 3 collection will be released in March or April next year and cost "around £24.99", industry sources have told Eurogamer.
ICO / Shadow of the Colossus, which popped up on the website of US retailer Walmart over the weekend, will be available to pre-order on UK retailer websites in the next few days, Eurogamer's been told.
Walmart.com has the game down for a 1st April 2011 release, which we understand may be placeholder, and priced $39.82.
Sony's plan with the release is to ape the God of War Collection, a re-mastered port of God of War and God of War II on a single Blu-ray.
Team ICO Collection, which includes high definition ports of PlayStation 2 classics ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, should be priced similarly, according to our sources.
Sony's set to go big at the Tokyo Game Show this week, where we expect to hear more.
Sony told us: "We don't comment on rumour or speculation."
In July Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said the console manufacturer is "keen to look into" converting ICO and Shadow of the Colossus to HD for PlayStation 3.
"As soon as we released God of War Collection, a lot of people were giving us suggestions, and ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, these are at the top of the list," he said.
"We are very aware, and we want to see and play in HD in the better frame-rate as well."
i'm glad i recently sold both my ICO's and my Shadow of the Colossus, as this would only kill the retro prices. i got £25 each for my ICO's and £40 for Colossus.
I've said it many, many times before now, but one more time won't hurt. Shadow of the Colossus is one of THE greatest games i have EVER played. I have played probably 1000+ games, so that's something special. It should be played by everyone.

I got rid of my PS2 before Shadow of the Colossus was released so i'll pick this up on the PS3, your opinions of that game are the same as mine of Ico, definitely one of the best games i've ever played. :)
Ico was brilliant too, but Colossus was immense in everything it did. True gem.
I look forward to playing it.

Team Ico Collection first screens
Ico and Shadow of the Colossus get better
Famitsu has posted a couple of screenshots from Sony's upcoming PS3 Team Ico compilation.
The Team Ico Collection will contain remastered versions of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus on one Blu-ray disc.
Rumours of the collection were ignited again by a Wallmart listing.
The Japanese magazine went on to list the title in its table of contents for PS3 games, which finally confirmed the game as real.
These screens show off Ico, Yorda and the first Colossus, as well as Team Ico's unmistakable visual style.

I have a PS2 (well my son does). I often look out for ICO but it's hard to find, I want ICO on the 360.

Ico and SotC 3D is 'overwhelming' - Ueda3D tech gets a thumbs up from developerLead designer at Team Ico, Fumito Ueda, has shared his approval over the 3D updates of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
According to Ueda - who has been working on upcoming PS3 exclusive The Last Gardian - just the HD upgrade to the games "brings a lot of life" to them.
In an interview with the PlayStation Blog, Ueda said the inclusion of 3D also gives the product "even more 'juice'".
"I'd first like to clarify that 3D is not essential to enjoy these experience - the HD element in itself brings a lot of life to the games. However, 3D will bring even more," he said.
"Both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus were designed with a huge depth of field in mind, demonstrated through the vast landscapes. Although 3D technology wasn't at the point that it is now, it was certainly something we considered. Now that the technology allows it, it gives the product even more 'juice' so to speak."
As if that wasn't enough of a glowing endorsement, he went on to give his unequivocal approval to the tech.
"I've already experienced this throughout the trial build and was overwhelmed with the results. That's how much the 3D element brings to the title," he added.

I remember when Ico came out on the PS2 (back when i had one) and i read a really glowing review in official playstation magazine, I thought to myself damn i am gonna buy that game when it goes a bit cheaper, but sadly i got an xbox not too long after that and apart from playing resi 4 my ps2 was pretty much retired so i never got to play it. :'( I would love a 360 release for the game, but alas it will never happen, unless pigs ever fly of course.

Who's making the Ico/SOTC remasters?
Who has Sony tasked to remaster two of gaming's most treasured creations, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus? Bluepoint, the company that remastered God of War I & II for Blu-ray.
Phew.
Sony Santa Monica's director of technology Tim Moss confirmed Bluepoint's involvement.
"I got to play it," Moss added in a tweet to Eurogamer's Digital Foundry blog. "Can't wait for everyone else to get the chance. It makes my inner fanboy happy."
The Blu-ray remasters of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus chiefly add native high-definition resolutions to the old PS2 games.
But they also add stereoscopic 3D, a feature that's led to some confusion about the remasters' frame-rates. Joystiq was told by a Sony rep at a preview event for the Ico and SOTC remasters that both games run at 60 frames per second, as is the requirement of 3D. However, a post on the US PlayStation blog notes that Shadow of the Colossus runs at 30 frames per second. But that could have been down to the blogger playing the game in 3D (and pumping out two 30FPS visuals, hence the 60FPS requirement).
Whether both games run at 60 frames per second in standard 2D, a number halved to 30 by 3D, remains to be clarified. It's hard to believe Sony would want Ico running at 60FPS and not Shadow of the Colossus.
Let's not forget that both are PS2 remasters, after all - something the PS3 should be well capable of, however much SOTC pushed ageing PS2 hardware.
Ico arrived on PS2, originally, way back in 2002. But despite a gargantuan 10/10 from Eurogamer's Tom Bramwell, the game remained obscure and niche - an undiscovered treasure.
That led to Sony re-issuing the game in 2006, which gave Eurogamer editors Kristan Reed (then) and Tom Bramwell (now) the chance to dribble deliriously over "one of the best games ever made".
Shadow of the Colossus, released in Europe in 2006, proved more divisive. Tom Bramwell picked out a catchphrase Eurogamer 8/10 for the game months after Kristan Reed had smothered it in a 10/10.
Does this indicate that soon after the remasters are out we could see The Last Guardian hit shelves? ;D
I seem to remember a 2011 Q4 release timeframe...

The last I heard, Ico/Shadow is in line for Q1 2011. Last Guardian is in line Q4 2011.
It seems kind of strange to release them so far apart. I predict we'll be sing some changes to these dates.
