Title: Inception: The Game
Post by: GamerMan316 on September 22, 2010, 09:56:39 AM
A videogame adaptation of Inception – the recent headache-inducing masterpiece from The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan – could be on the way.

Speaking to Variety about the possibility of future sequels and spin-offs, Nolan said, "One thing we are looking at doing is developing a videogame based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can't fit into a feature film."

It could be a while off though. "That's something we've been talking about and are looking at doing long-term, in a couple of years," he added.

In the event that you haven't seen it, Inception follows a team of thieves who implant themselves in people's dreams in order to steal their secrets.

Videogame references – intentional or otherwise - come thick and fast, from Ellen Page's 'level designer', to a mountain set-piece highly reminiscent of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Cliffhanger stage, and a bit where Mario gets to the end of the film and the princess is in another castle.

With you on that, don't think it needed any sequels either, the first one ended perfectly, no need for more.
I remember when Jet Li pulled out of the sequels, Joel Silver (the producer) wasn't too happy about it and started spouting crap like Keanu Reeves is so good in the fight scenes that he could actually beat Jet Li in a fight, what a fuckin' idiot.   ;D

CONFIRMED (http://insidemovies.ew.com/2010/11/30/christopher-nolan-batman-inception/)

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Inception director Christopher Nolan has confirmed he's working on an Inception video game.  When last we heard, Nolan was considering the project, and it seems he's decided on "yes."

"I always imagined Inception to be a world where a lot of other stories could take place," Nolan told EW. "At the moment, the only direction we're channeling that is by developing a videogame set in the world."

Other details on the project are scant. Nolan said he's working with a team of collaborators, and that it is a "longer-term proposition."

Nolan went on to say that he hasn't given a lot of thought to an Inception sequel, but it's not something he's saying "no" to.

Glad to see there wasn't an instant need to 'cash-in' on the film and produce a half-assed game to go along with it. If they take their time and really flesh something out, it could be interesting.

+ Don't really see a need for a sequel to Inception's storyline, IMO.
