Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is the story of Nathan Drake, a fortune-hunter with a shady reputation and an even shadier past who is lured back into the treacherous world of thieves and mercenary treasure-seekers. The tenth game by premier PlayStation 3 developer Naughty Dog, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves allows players to take control of Drake and embark on a journey that will push him to his physical, emotional and intellectual limits to discover the real truth behind the lost fleet of Marco Polo and the legendary Himalayan valley of Shambhala.
Hold on to your Naughty Dog hats -- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is coming out Oct. 13, 2009. Yes, the sequel to IGN's 2007 PS3 Game of the Year finally has a release date and is set to drop Nathan Drake into another life and death quest for riches. Elena Fisher is back, but things don't seem lovey-dovey with her and Drake, and the game even introduces a new love interest in Chloe Frazer.
Fans have a lot to look forward to as October gets closer, but until then, the brand new box art below will have to do.

Uncharted 2 dated for Europe
Naughty Dog co-president Christophe Balestra has confirmed via Twitter that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will be out in UK on October 23.
That's 10 days after the US release, which was confirmed for October 13, along with a bunch of pre-order deals that snag eager beavers codes to download gold guns in the game.
On a side note, Naughty Dog's Jennifer Clark has also today revealed that the firm has struck a deal with ESC-Toys to put out a line of Nathan Drake vinyl toys.

If I do pick up a PS3 this year (which is very likely), this will be one of my most anticipated purchases.

Uncharted 2 "impossible" on Xbox 360
Naughty Dog co-president Christophe Balestra believes the technical demands of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves make the game "impossible" to recreate, like-for-like, on Xbox 360.
"I guarantee that this game couldn't be working on Xbox 360. It would be impossible. I'm 100 per cent sure of this," Balestra told ars technica.
"It's the combination of Blu-ray and hard drive," he explained, revealing that "every single bit" of the 25GB disc had been filled.
"You can play the entire game without loading. We don't require an install. We're doing all the post-processing effects on the SPUs [Synergistic Processing Units]. The quality of the depth of field we have, you can't do that on the Xbox.
"We've invested a lot of time maximising the power of the machine," added Balestra. "That's our job, to make the PS3 shine."
It's not the first time Naughty Dog has talked-up technical prowess of Uncharted 2 or the power of the PS3 itself. The Sony-owned studio has said the sequel uses all of the machine's power, whereas the first game - a poster-child for PS3 - used only "30 to 40 per cent" of its capabilities.
Naughty Dog also houses Sony Worldwide Studio's ICE Team, which concentrates on making PS3 tools and engines to power first-party games.
It's no surprise that Balestra said Naughty Dog is "very open" to sharing advancements with third-party PS3 developers as well as closer siblings - like God of War III developer Sony Santa Monica - then. "That's part of our job," he offered.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune remains one of the best-looking games on PlayStation 3, and the sequel looks even better.
Uncharted 2 Collector's Edition Includes Art Book, Knife
(http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/9/2009/09/thumb160x_fortune.jpg)
Introducing the Uncharted 2: Fortune Hunter Edition. It's the game's fancy-pants version, and includes a copy of Uncharted 2, art book, collector's case and a replica of the game's mysterious, ancient artefact. Sounds good. Only, there's a catch.
See, Naughty Dog & Sony want this to be a genuine limited edition deal. Not something anyone plonking down $5 at GameStop can get their hands on. So they're going to be giving them away in competitions on the PlayStation.Blog, the game's multiplayer beta and in PlayStation Home.
Interestingly, we've been told that in addition to the stuff outlined above, the Fortune Hunter Edition will also include codes for special downloads...not sure what those would be, exactly, but they definitely suggest some kind of rare downloadable content. Multiplayer skins/weapons, perhaps?
I preorded the game at GameStop to get some bonus goodies, including early access to the Multiplayer beta. However, they keep shifting the dates for when the beta begins, I have no clue when it will actually start. I may have already. :D
Uncharted 2 public demo announced
We all know there have been numerous opportunities for PS3 owners to play Uncharted 2. Firstly, there was the closed beta and starting in less than two weeks there will be the multiplayer beta that you can gain access to by simply preordering the game at a local GameStop location. If you didn't preorder the game at GameStop and missed out on the closed beta from a while back, don't be discouraged, Naughty Dog and Sony are going to give you shot at the end of the month.
That's right; starting on September 29th, there will be an open multiplayer demo available to all. What kind of content the demo will offer isn't known, yet. It will be different from the closed beta from June, though. If it'll be different from the GameStop beta isn't known.

Apparantly Naughty Dog have maxed out the PS3 hardware with this game.
Playstation won't be happy with them saying that, they'd want people to think the best is yet to come!

Agreed. Expect a retraction sometime in the near future. ;)
Uncharted 2 gets 21/20 in French PSM3
Better-than-perfect, sets "a new milestone" says mag
According to French gamers who've got hold of their localised edition of PSM3, Uncharted 2 has been given a better-than-perfect 21/20 score. But that's not the only high-five it's been given.
According to translations, the mag's verdict states: "Long, visually stunning, deep and explosive, Uncharted 2 combines all the qualities you can find in a videogame, and more. A new milestone has been reached in videogame history." So they quite like it, then.
Drake's second outing has also done well in the US Official PlayStation Magazine, getting a 5/5 score in the issue which has Drake himself on the cover.
"We've been working incredibly hard over the past two years to make Uncharted 2 the best game we've made yet and we're all smiles to hear that we're not the only ones who think we've got something really great on our hands," said Naughty Dog marketing man Arne Meyer of the glowing OPM review.

That's effen retarded. Even if it is the best game ever made, you cannot exceed the spectrum of your own scale. That just makes it look like a marketing play, instead of an actual rating.
Naughty Dog thanks Bungie & Infinity Ward in final credits for Uncharted 2, how nice!

Naughty Dog explains why they thanked Bungie and others
Naughty Dog gave their thanks to other development studios during the closing credits of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The most surprising of which was Bungie, developer of the Halo series for the Xbox systems.
During a live chat session with fans, Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann explained why they choose to thanked Bungie and other development studios:
Re: thanking other developers. We try to be quite open with our technology and our process. We exchanged technology and ideas with other developers. We wanted to make sure we thanked everyone that helped us out in some way.
It seems quite a bit unusual seeing two exclusive developers for rival systems exchanging ideas and technology with each other. However, the exchange is working out quite well for both developers since Halo 3: ODST for the Xbox 360 and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves for the Playstation 3 are two of the most acclaimed games of 2009 so far.
Awwww ..
Hugs all around.
Drake's Voice Actor Says Jackman's the Man
(http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/2009/10/custom_1256783579976_hughjackman.jpg)
In a podcast interview, Nolan North, the voice of Nathan Drake, indicated that Hugh Jackman is the preferred actor - by producers - for the upcoming Uncharted movie.
Desmond - er, Drake - er, North - told the Official Playstation Magazine UK's podcast that not only is Jackman who he'd like to see take on the treasure hunters role, but the film's producers agree too.
Jackman is who I'd like to see. I think the producers would like to see Jackman too, because he has that tough guy exterior, but [...] there's also a lot going on behind his eyes. A lot of emotion and sensitivity on that brusque exterior, and he has great comic timing. He's a phenomenal actor. I just hope I get a part on the movie so I can work with Hugh."
For his part, North said he'd of course "love to do the movie; obviously I'd love to do it as Nathan Drake," however, "I've done film and television and I understand the reality of the business."
mmmmmm Hugh is so dreamy, i watched X-Men Origins last night, it was like watching porn.
He lets me call him Hughey when were in bed.
More Uncharted 2 Co-Op? Certainly Sounds Like It
(http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/9/2009/12/500x_unchartedcoop.jpg)
Uncharted 2's co-op play seemed to go down well with players, so it's only natural to see developers Naughty Dog talking about adding even more to the game via downloadable content.
Speaking with G4, Naughty Dog's Evan Wells has said "So for future DLC, could we add more co-op? Probably more in the arena-style type of gameplay, like our Survival and our Gold Rush modes."
"The objective-style co-op that we have where we have those little narrative moments...it's something that we are considering and we'd really like to do, but it's a much, much bigger investment of time because we have to do a lot of motion capture with the actors and record a lot of voices. So we would absolutely want make sure that we talk to our community and make sure there was the proper demand for it."
So come 2010, you'll probably get more co-op. You may even get more story-driven co-op. Merry Christmas, Uncharted 2 fans.
Uncharted 2 skins DLC confirmed
The downloadable add-on for Uncharted 2 revealed by Sony Japan last week has been confirmed for worldwide release, although it's not free as was originally reported.
It will, however, feature the skins based on characters from Sony stable-mates Killzone 2, Resistance 2 and InFamous for use in multiplayer that we saw in those screens.
The PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack will be released alongside a demo of the game in this week's PSN updated on Thursday, 28th January. It will cost $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99, according to the PlayStation blog. It contains seven skins: good Cole, evil Cole and Zeke from inFamous, Sgt Nathan Hale or a Chimera Hybrid from Resistance, and a Helghast Trooper and Tomas Sevchenko from Killzone 2.
There's no word on the other updates mentioned by Sony Japan - reportedly maps and skins adapted from Uncharted 1 due on 25th February, and a co-op mode with new maps and skins on 15th April. Naughty Dog did say that some of the news was "inaccurate" when it was reported on Friday.
Finally got round to starting this game in the last hour, after about an hour of bloody updates, only on the 3rd level but loving it so far, i'll post back after i've given it a good go, might even post a review but as it's for the PS3 I doubt anyone will care :)

Are you to the 'fountain' section yet? This was a section specifically mentioned by ND as not having enough polish on it in that they don't really tell you what you need to do after you get to the fountain. If you need help hear, just give me a shout.

Great to know. If I get stuck I'll know exactly who to ask for help. :)

I picked this up about a week ago and I really like it. They've got their own little version of Horde too.
