Sega has announced Captain America: Super Soldier is in development.
Captain America will take up his shield and face-off against Red Skull.
Sega promises "a highly athletic combat system with fluid platforming and a highly tuned suite of shield attacks," as you fight your way through a "massive castle-turned-military installation".
The story is penned by Christos Gage, fresh from Marvel's Avenger: The Initiative along with other titles such as Iron Man, Civil War: House of M and so on.

Sega brings to life the Star-Spangled Avenger.
It's bizarre that Captain America: Super Soldier was on the showfloor of the New York Comic Con. The game was literally announced days prior to this weekend, so to see the game so soon was a shock. Granted, the demo version on the floor was in its pre-alpha stage and was a completely hands-off experience for press and Comic Con attendees. However, a few of us Crave guys (Joey Esposito, Joey Davidson, and myself) were given a demo walkthrough of this early build of the game by Next Level Games' Brandon Gill, acting Game Director on Captain America: Super Soldier.
For those completely shocked that there is a Captain America game coming out, remember there is also a movie in the works. The Captain America game is obviously releasing in conjunction with the film, but it was stressed that Captain America: Super Soldier is completely standalone. Developer Next Level Games has crafted a completely original story for Captain America: Super Soldier that isn't a retread of what the movie covers. This game is not a Captain America origin story like it's movie counterpart. Super Soldier actually takes place a few years into World War II--with Cap still relatively new to the whole inspiring leadership role--and sees Cap infiltrating a giant castle under Hydra management with intentions of taking it down. The game's story is also written by comic scribe Christos Gage, so that's big news for comic fans, as he knows his Captain American mythology.

And the Cap lore plays a large part into this video game. With Sega and Next Level Games dovetailing the story of Super Soldier from the movie's plot, they are free to incorporate a large number of classic Cap villains and easter eggs. You can expect villains such as Red Skull, Arnim Zola, Hydra and even the obscure Iron Cross. Christos Gage mined the wells and threw in a lot of winks and nods to appease hardcore fans of the character.
Firstly, Brandon Gill elaborated on the setting of Captain America: Super Soldier. As previously mentioned, the game takes place completely within the walls of a massive Hydra castle. But Brandon Gill assured us the environment and setting would not become boring. The game actually has a large number of unique and varied settings. "The game two bastions, a village inside, and Hydra are actually tunneled underneath, as well. There are also two full cell-blocks, and research and development labs."
Moving on to combat, Captain America: Super Soldier--even in this early phase--has touches of greatness reminiscent of Batman: Arkham Asylum. Much like Batman is in Arkham Asylum, Cap is also quite nimble and able to bounce between multiple enemies, dishing out punches, kicks and brutal counters. The move-set in this demo was limited, but the animations showed promise. Captain America: Super Soldier will also have an ability upgrade system where Cap finds intel littered throughout the environment, teaching him new moves and how to effectively take down specific enemy types.
A Captain America game would not be complete without full gameplay integration of Cap's famous shield. Thankfully, Next Level Games seems to be doing some rather cool things with Cap's best line of defense. Clearly you can use the shield to block hand-to-hand attacks, but you can also ricochet bullets back at attackers with an easy to grasp counter mechanic. The shield can also be thrown at multiple enemies at once, even incorporating a third-person shooter targeting system that works rather well if the enemies aren't in close proximity.
Effectively beating the holy hell out of Hydra cronies also earns you "Focus." The Focus Meter has four levels of power, with each combat button on the controller performing a different Focus maneuver. Focus Moves can also be exponentially more powerful depending how much Focus you save up. The only one we saw in the demo had the game going slow-mo, the background turning blue, and Cap punching the targeted enemy square in the jaw, shattering his Hydra mask. It was completely badass, each and every time Brandon Gill showed it to us.

Platforming is also a big part of Captain America: Super Soldier. The difficulty here doesn't spawn from certain platforms being hard to reach, but is instead all about keeping a rhythm. Pressing the jump button at the moment Cap grabs a pole or platform makes him bound off it with slick, fluid animations. If timed correctly, Cap will look like a parkour master moving throughout the environment.
The camera also shifts from 3-D to 2-D during these platforming segments, giving the game a cool old school gaming aesthetic while also making it easier to see what your jumping to.
The demo of Captain America: Super Soldier ends with a classic villain—re-imagined for this movie universe—confronting the Star-Spangled Avenger. It's still way too early to make a judgment call on the quality of this movie tie-in game. But what we were shown showed a lot of promise. The game definitely succeeds at making you feel like you're in the boots of Captain America, and that's a great first step.

Following the X-Men Origins: Wolverine strategy. I approve.

Q: how was it completely hands off when like me and like 200+ people played it?
Sambo created a thread on this the other day so i've merged them both. :)
