EA Canada announced Fight Night 5 back in July with Fight Night Champion, promising new features, a larger roster of fighters and brand new single player mode.
Saying at the time:

Fight Night Champion will break the mold of what is expected in a single-player sports game. Players will be introduced to an entirely new way to step between the ropes and experience the drama, emotion, excitement and tragedy of world championship boxing.
Fight Night Champion is due March 2011 and here's a Trailer
Another crap boxing game incoming, oh joy!
They kinda broke the mold with FNR3 - not sure anything that they've offered since really appeals. Might have some to do with the lack of interest in boxing in general.

Among them are British hero Joe Calzaghe, grilled food expert George Foreman, porker Erich "Butterbean" Esch, Jake "The Raging Bull" LaMotta and Ukranian monsters Wladimir and Vitali Klistchko and British junkie Ricky Hatton (I added that last part) ;D

EA has announced that David 'The Haymaker' Haye, the current WBA World Heavyweight Champion, will be adorning the UK box for Fight Night Champion.
Haye will also be fully playable in the game and, as "a champion in every sense", will lead a roster of "many other current boxers and all time greats".
The game features a revamped control system, excessively named "Full Spectrum Punch Control". Apparently this is the "most realistic punching system ever seen", whilst still being accessible for newcomers.

Doesn't really work on a topic with just a few replies!
EA has put out two new trailers for Fight Night Champion, one showcasing offensive tactics and the other defensive ones.
Gameplay producer Brian Hayes walks you through the tutorials, explaining the game's revised analogue controls, which have been designed to be more accessible than those in previous Fight Night titles.
Punching and blocking are now easier to get to grips with, but we do worry that the series could lose some of its organic feel and skill level for the sake of accessibility, and there's a danger of punches becoming too quick and snappy if a simple flick is all that's required.
I'm loving the demo of this game. The fighting feels like it has some real depth.
Agreed - tried fighting as Tyson vs. Ali and at first, I couldn't resist going in full brute force, but after a couple of replays found the need strategize a more concise plan of attack to even get a decision.
with boxing a little strategy goes a long way. O0
My wrist is so sore from playing this demo too much.
Gamestop has Fight Night 4 for $15. How much is FN4 like FN:Champion, anybody know? Is it a worthy investment?
I don't know, but I remember not liking the demo for FN4 as much as I'm liking this one. It may have been that it(FN4) felt too loose compared, (with regards to controls) to FN3, which I enjoyed pretty well. FN: Champion feels more like a balance between the two, IMO.
This could prove interesting:
any1 plan on buying this game? I do like the way this one plays but not sure if I'd pick it up unless you guys do.

I won't be buying it anytime soon. I will probably pick it up once it's in the $20 used range.

I'm with Neato on this one. I like it enough that I want to own it at some point, but I don't need it enough to buy it at full price.
sounds good to me.
Well I told myself that if I can beat all the boxers on the demo that I would buy the game. Well it looks like I'll be buying it.
Here are the strategies I used.
Ali V.S. Tyson = Double & triple the jab, followed by straight rights, stick & move(Tyson sucks against the jab)
Tyson V.S. Ali = Block while moving in, stick to the jab and straight right. Wait for Ali to move in then mix in hooks and uppercuts.(Not too bad as Ali does move in often)
Pacquiao V.S. Cotto = Counter using his speed, dont slug it out with him.(easy)
Cotto V.S. Pacquiao = Block and use the jab as your counter punch followed by some hooks. Make sure you move your head as Pacquiao is very accurate. (this was the hardest one for me)
I gave this a rent the other day, it's not a bad game actually and looks like it's way deep with regards to the career and the online gym concept. I'm not a hardcore boxing fan, but it's got some points of interest.
yeah, to me its pretty challenging...I played FN3 and I could win against the hardest difficulty in the 2nd round. I had to play as a Featherweight V.S. a Heavyweight in order to get somewhat of a challenge. I've been checking on Half.com for a good deal on the game. Let me know if you come across anything cheap.
